Children’s Book on Cerebral Palsy Hits #1 on Amazon

“Children and adults alike can learn from Frankie that being different makes us special.”

Lace-up your shoes for a lesson in empathy as you experience life through the challenges and adventures of Frankie, a little girl with cerebral palsy. Freiling Publishing is proud to announce that “This Girl’s Got Grit” debuted on Amazon as the #1 New Release in Children’s Special Needs Books.

The author, Felicia Flewelling, bravely shares the real-life struggles and stories of Frankie, a character modeled after her own daughter. Flewelling’s experience raising a daughter born with cerebral palsy provides her with the perfect voice to educate and enlighten, teaching us all to embrace life with the grit of Frankie.

Frankie is a little girl who loves life and lives it to the fullest, even while boldly tackling daily challenges that most of us would never have to consider. She glows with grit, persisting until she accomplishes anything that she sets her mind to do. Flewelling artfully teaches empathy through the pages of this story as the reader experiences a glimpse of the challenges that Frankie overcomes each day.

Cerebral palsy is one of the most common childhood disorders with more than 500,000 having at least one symptom, and 10,000 babies are born each year with cerebral palsy. Cerebral Palsy is a group of permanent movement disorders that appears in early childhood. Signs and symptoms vary among people and over time and include poor coordination, weak and stiff muscles, and tremors. There may also be problems with speaking, vision, swallowing, and speaking. There is no cure and while symptoms may get more noticeable over the first few years of life, underlying problems do not worsen over time.

The illustrator, Leslie Click, captured Flewelling’s attention with a piece of art she once gifted to Frankie. Her whimsical art is based on real photographs of Frankie’s life.

Tom Freilling, Publisher, says, “Children and adults alike can learn from Frankie that being different makes us special and that learning about others can help foster acceptance and connection. This is a story that will be told and retold in homes and schools across America.”

This Girl’s Got Grit is available wherever books are sold for $20.99.
