CHESS Health Adds Integrated Video Calls to its Digital Health Platform for Substance Use Disorder

CHESS Health, the leading provider of comprehensive addiction management technology, today announced the general availability of CHESS Video, a new addition to the CHESS platform enabling integrated telehealth through the patient-facing Connections App and provider-facing CHESS Dashboard.

CHESS Video provides a safe and highly secure solution for patients struggling with substance use disorder (SUD) to participate in one-on-one video calls or group meetings with their counselor, recovery coach, health plan care manager, or any member of their care team. In addition to security controls specific to the sensitivity of addiction-related data, CHESS Video differentiates itself from other video platforms by offering clinicians key patient information and functionality such as setting medication reminders, integrated into the CHESS Video dashboard.

CHESS Video has been available to an initial group of treatment organizations since November; their feedback has been uniformly enthusiastic.

“I love the ability to meet with patients through CHESS Video, it is easier and so much more convenient for everyone,” said Keith Leff, certified peer mentor at Valley Hope. “Having video calls integrated into the Connections App, along with peer support, secure messaging, reminders, and completing assessments, really helps to keep patients engaged.”

“The pandemic has fundamentally changed how SUD treatment is delivered. The Connections App offers those in recovery access to support at any time, day or night. With the addition of CHESS Video, treatment organizations now have an easy to use, private and secure platform for SUD treatment for use by their clinicians and peer support specialists,” said Hans Morefield, chief executive officer of CHESS Health. “We have been listening diligently to the needs of our customers and those they treat, and we look forward to witnessing the positive impact this functionality will have for those in SUD recovery.”

“Having a single platform that combines eIntervention, eRecovery and eTherapy solutions as well as telehealth will provide us with tremendous flexibility to work with those struggling with addiction issues, especially during the pandemic,” shared Bruce Johnson, executive director of Pace Inc, a treatment center in Delaware. “This platform is helping to keep people in treatment longer while reducing the risks associated with isolation during this difficult time.”
