Can the Love of God Help Overcome Tragedy?” is a heartfelt memoir of the author’s journey to healing

News Image

“Forever Whitney: Can the Love of God Help Overcome Tragedy?”: a captivating tome that encourages the readers to be hopeful in life. “Forever Whitney: Can the Love of God Help Overcome Tragedy?” is the creation of published author Karen Clark, a woman who developed a love for writing music. She also used music to make up songs that would help her study for tests. She even wrote a song and produced a music video with her students when she was teaching eight grade reading and english.

Clark writes, “Ever hear the phrase ‘Here today, gone tomorrow’ or ‘Tomorrow is not promised,’ or even ‘You never know what you have until it’s gone’? All three of these statements hit home for Karen Clark the night she received the phone call that would rock her world forever. It was that type of phone call that every person hates to wake up to, they have nightmares about, and they have no idea how to function when one receives it. Do you cry? Do you pray? Are you hopeful, or do you just sit and wait for the inevitable to happen? How do you go on with the rest of your life knowing that a piece of you is missing and will never return? Do you have friends that you can lean on? Or do you keep your emotions balled up inside and try to face this on your own?”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Karen Clark’s new book is a thrilling account that will let the readers experience the variety of emotions that the author went through during her journey to healing.

This book encourages every reader to be brave no matter how big and unyielded their battles in life are and through this heart-touching narrative, the writer gives everyone hope and assures them that there will be healing of wounds in life as long as they lift their trust to God.

Hope Is Found in Its Defeat” is a profound creation that catches the feeling of what one longs to come back to

News Image

“The Lie: Hope Is Found in Its Defeat”: a fulfilling journey that ventures into the depths of God’s power and His love for mankind. “The Lie: Hope Is Found in Its Defeat” is the creation of published author Maurice G. Cabirac, a writer who spent half of his life knowing Christ. His years of experience in life has enabled him to see clearly the tremendous effects of what the revelation of the grace of God can do in the human heart.

Cabirac shares, “Our ability to see is indispensable to our being able to navigate the world in which we live. Our vision is very precious to us. Yet there is vision that goes beyond physical sight. It is the ability to see and perceive life as it truly is. This vision is even more valuable to us than our physical sight, for it enables us to understand life. It empowers us to deal with life situations in wisdom. Simply put, the proper perspective of life is what enables us to overcome anything this world may presents to us. When this form of vision is clear, life can be experienced to its fullest.

“In The Lie, we will explore the reality of a deception that exists in the world and in the hearts of every human being. This deception so powerfully affects the human heart that it obscures our ability to see life clearly or to reason about it according to truth. This deception, completely unseen by the world, has devastating effects in our lives and in the world itself. But when the light of truth illuminates the darkness of that deception, exposing it for what it is, our sight is restored, and Real Life is the result.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Maurice G. Cabirac’s new book is a stirring testimony that is also concrete proof of what grace can produce in one. The author hopes that this creation leaves an impact in each of the readers’ hearts.

National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) Provides Guidance on SECURE Act

In addition to serving as experts on how to plan with trusts under the SECURE Act, NAELA worked to obtain changes in the final bill to ensure that trusts for people with disabilities could retain ‘the stretch’

The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) recognizes the impact that the new Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement (SECURE) Act will have on estate plans, especially those that involve leaving funds to people with disabilities. The SECURE Act brings major changes to retirement tax policy, particularly the rules that limit “stretch” IRAs. The “stretch” allowed an inheritor to take money out of a retirement account over their lifetime. The SECURE Act requires most, but not all individuals, to take the money out in 10 years. Yet, many estate plans do not leave retirement accounts outright to inheritors, but in a trust for their benefit. NAELA members understand how these changes will impact trusts, including supplemental needs trusts for people with disabilities and trusts for minor children.

“In addition to serving as experts on how to plan with trusts under the SECURE Act, NAELA worked to obtain changes in the final bill to ensure that trusts for people with disabilities could retain ‘the stretch’,” said NAELA President-Elect Wendy Cappelletto, Esq., CAP.

Families should review their estate plans in light of these changes. NAELA member attorneys are well-equipped to assist with your estate planning and retirement needs. Find a NAELA member attorney in your area.

Challenged Athlete Foundation to Host Nordic Skiing and Biathlon Clinic for Adaptive Athletes at Tamarack Resort

“Tamarack is grateful to host the CAF Biathalon and Nordic Skiing Clinic,” said Tamarack General Manager, Brad Larsen. “We are lucky to witness these amazing athletes take on new challenges. These extraordinary events show that being serious about accessibility in recreation benefits everyone.”

The Idaho chapter of the Challenged Athletes Foundation is scheduled to host a Nordic skiing and biathlon clinic for adaptive athletes, January 18-19 at Tamarack Resort, Tamarack, Idaho.

Nearly 30 adaptive athletes as young as 6 years old will receive world-class training from Paralympians and Olympic biathlon and skiing coaches including BethAnn Chamberlain, U.S. Paralympic Nordic development coach; Greg Mallory, Kristina Sabasteanski, Sean Halstead and “One-Arm” Willie Stewart, Paralympians; Eric Reynolds, Olympian; Marc Mast, elite Nordic coach and designer of adaptive Nordic equipment; and Wilson Dippo, Bogus Basin Nordic skiing and adaptive Nordic coach. Kevin Holtry, a Boise Police Department officer injured in the line of duty in 2016 will also be in attendance.

“There are nearly 200,000 Idahoans living with disabilities,” said Jennifer Skeesick, CAF-Idaho Regional Director. “These clinics provide an opportunity to strengthen the existing adaptive sports community in Idaho and empower individuals with permanent physical challenges through sport.”

Most medical insurance does not cover adaptive sports equipment, making the cost of equipment an obstacle for those with physical disabilities. By partnering with an accessible resort that can provide ski in/ski out access, and by making adaptive equipment readily available, CAF ensures clinic attendees can focus solely on acquiring new skills, increasing self-esteem and enhancing their quality of life.

“Tamarack is grateful to be the host of the CAF Biathalon and Nordic Skiing Clinic,” said Tamarack General Manager Brad Larsen. “We are lucky to be able to witness these amazing athletes as they take on new challenges. These kinds of extraordinary events show that being serious about accessibility in recreation benefits everyone.”

Future scheduled clinics include a sledge hockey clinic in Boise, Idaho, February 8, and a sledge hockey and standup/wheelchair curling clinic in Hailey, Idaho, March 6-7.

The Council on Accreditation (COA) Publishes 2020 Edition Standards

Countless hours were invested by our team of staff and volunteers to bring these updates to fruition. We are thrilled to release standards that focus on the areas most relevant to our organizations, tying directly to their results all while preserving the rigor of COA accreditation.

The Council on Accreditation (COA) is proud to announce its publication of new 2020 Edition Standards. The Standards will affect private, public, and Canadian organizations seeking accreditation, and can be viewed online at https://coanet.org/standards.

The changes come after COA sought feedback from its volunteers, organizations, and partners, who provided valuable insight into which aspects of COA’s accreditation process were most helpful. All of the work was done with a single goal in mind: to increase the value of accreditation by focusing on those practices and activities that will have the greatest impact on the people and communities its organizations work with. With this focus, the COA Board of Trustees recently approved COA’s updated mission as “partnering with human and social service organizations to strengthen their ability to improve the lives of the people they serve.”

COA President & CEO Jody Levison-Johnson commended the group effort that culminated in the 2020 Edition, noting that “countless hours were invested by our team of staff and volunteers to bring these updates to fruition. We are thrilled to release standards that focus on the areas most relevant to our organizations, tying directly to their results all while preserving the rigor of COA accreditation.”

The 2020 Edition focuses on the standards that promote the development of effective, mission-driven organizations that are equipped to meet the needs of their clients. Through efforts to refine the standards and focus on those that most impact client outcomes, COA has reduced both the standards and required evidence by about 30%. This will help organizations spend less time compiling evidence, and more time improving practice.

A PDF summary of the standards changes can be found at https://go.coanet.org/2020Edition.

COA will be hosting a webinar on January 16th at 2 PM EST to answer questions about the new Standards. Register at https://bit.ly/2Rgq9Ls.

Emme Masters’s newly released “God Called Her Adam” is a powerful read that centers on women as who they are designed to be rather than who they are told to be

News Image

“God Called Her Adam”: an important exploration through biblically-inspired selections, with spaces for self-reflection, that deal with women and the society they are born into. “God Called Her Adam” is the creation of published author Emme Masters, a woman of strong Christian faith. As a diligent study of God’s Word, writing is her preferred vehicle to educate readers, as well as her method of relaxation, expression, and documentation of her walk with God.

Masters shares, “God called her Adam. Man called her Woman. Fallen Man called her Eve. What do you call her?

“This book was crafted from an earnest search for God’s truth of the female portion of humanity. My goal was to rightfully reflect God’s will for women and His will for me. I couldn’t reconcile the God who created both male and female in His image and gave them dominion with the church teaching of women’s blind obedience to men. I had to know the truth, even if it confirmed that I was to park my mind and follow men. But what I found in God’s word, hidden in plain sight, is that God intended greatness for women from the very beginning.

“I hope you enjoy the fruit of my research and discovery. Most importantly, I hope you allow the Holy Spirit to reveal to you the identity of the Godly woman and that you be her. God called her Adam.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Emme Masters’s new book is a thought-provoking manuscript that reveals the truth of what women deal with every day—being molded into someone lesser than what God blessed them to be.

The Birth Injury Lawyers Group Launches New $2,500 Scholarship for Students with Cerebral Palsy

The Birth Injury Lawyers Group is pleased to launch a new $2,500 college scholarship for students diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

“As we work with medical specialists and life care planning experts, we see the challenges that those affected by cerebral palsy face,” said attorney Robert Goldwater of the Birth Injury Lawyers Group. “That is why we started this scholarship to help dedicated students with cerebral palsy seize educational opportunities and fight for their goals.”

Goldwater is a parent to triplets, two of whom were diagnosed with cerebral palsy, making his work as a birth injury lawyer especially meaningful to him.

Criteria for Cerebral Palsy Scholarship

To qualify as an eligible scholarship applicant, a student must have received a cerebral palsy diagnosis. They must currently be enrolled in high school with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher. Furthermore, the student must already have been accepted to a four-year university or college. All applicants are required to agree to the Terms and Conditions as outlined in the scholarship information page on the Birth Injury Lawyers Group website.

How to Apply for the Scholarship

Any student interested in applying for the Birth Injury Lawyers Group Cerebral Palsy Scholarship must complete the application form which includes a mechanism for uploading any relevant documents on the scholarship information page on the Birth Injury Lawyers Group website. Applicants may not email their applications and supporting documentation.

The deadline for applying for the Birth Injury Lawyers Group Cerebral Palsy Scholarship is June 15, 2020. The firm will contact the winner by email and/or phone in August of 2020.

How the Winner Will Be Determined

Goldwater’s personal experiences with his children enable him to anticipate the challenges that students with cerebral palsy face. “I know that the winner of this scholarship will put it to good use in pursuit of a college degree,” he said.

In keeping with this spirit, the Cerebral Palsy Scholarship will ask applicants to write and submit an essay responding to the following question:

“How has cerebral palsy affected your educational goals and how will the scholarship money help you in reaching your academic goals?”

The applicant will be chosen based on their background, academic achievements, and the essay that best embodies the spirit of hope that the Birth Injury Lawyers Group wishes to impart to children with cerebral palsy who might doubt their potential in life.

“The winner of this scholarship is someone we believe will make the most of it, will be an unstoppable force when it comes to pursuing their academic goals and their life goals,” Goldwater says. “They shall serve as a role model, a living embodiment of the possibilities that lie ahead for someone with cerebral palsy. They will be a beacon of hope.”

About the Birth Injury Lawyers Group

Robert Goldwater founded the Birth Injury Lawyers Group in 2003, a year after his wife gave birth to triplets who spent nearly the first year of their lives in various hospitals due to the numerous complications they suffered. His aim as a personal injury and medical malpractice attorney is to help families of children who suffer birth injuries, specifically those that could have been prevented were it not for negligence or medical malpractice.
