Paso Robles Bathroom Remodeling Company Reports ‘Top Tips for Remodeling a Bathroom for Disability or Aging in Place’

Paso Robles bathroom remodeling

Bathrooms in private homes don’t have to strictly follow ADA requirements, but the guidelines are still an excellent reference.

When someone in the family becomes disabled it’s often necessary to remodel the bathroom so that room is easier to use. Frank Cueva, owner of Central Pacific Construction, bathroom remodeling experts in Paso Robles said, “The best way to start is to have a list of how the bathroom needs to change so that it’s easier to enter and exit, bathe, and all the other things we need to do in a bathroom.”

Fortunately, bathrooms in private homes don’t have to strictly follow American with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, but using those requirements as guidelines is very useful. A private residence must be ADA compliant if a portion of the residence is used for certain kinds of business.

The degree of remodeling depends on the nature of the disability and the person’s preferences. Remodeling for wheelchair access and transfer has different needs than remodeling for someone who is still relatively able to get around under his or her own power or aging in place at home.

  • The door needs to be widened for wheelchair or walker access. The bathroom door should be at least 32-inches wide with a clearance of at least 36-inches. Shower doors also need to follow the same measurement.
  • Grab bars help people stabilize themselves while sitting down or standing up. Grab bars also give someone with balance concerns something to hold on to for extra support. Some of the best places to install grab bars are in the shower, near the shower door for entering and exiting and near the toilet. They need to be positioned 33-36 inches from the floor so they are easy to reach and solidly installed. The length varies according to use, although ADA compliance requires specific lengths for specific locations.
  • Wheelchairs require more floor space to navigate. The ADA requires a 30-inch by 48-inch access to the sink and also requires the center line of the toilet be between 16 and 18 inches from the side wall.
  • Add a shower or bathtub that is easy to get in and out. Showers can have curbless floors for wheelchair access or so there is nothing to trip over. Consider a walk-in bathtub. Add seating for the shower.
  • Replacing the toilet may not be necessary because riser seats can be installed to bring the seat to an easy height for transferring to and from a wheelchair. It’s also easier for some with arthritis or balance issues to have a higher seat.

Other considerations when planning the accessible bathroom include:

  • A bathroom for use during the remodel
  • Remodeling cabinets and shelves for easier access
  • Making sure that frequently traveled paths throughout the house are smooth and obstacle free
  • An idea about what you want the final bathroom to look like

Thomas Paul’s newly released “The Return of Jesus” unfolds a compelling look into what the rapture will bring forth

News Image

“The Return of Jesus”: a brilliant work that revolves around the subject of Jesus’s Second Coming as it looks into what could happen when the time of the rapture comes. “The Return of Jesus” is the creation of published author Thomas Paul, a writer who designed and managed the construction of numerous buildings in the southwestern US for over three decades. He grew up and experienced a wonderful childhood on Geneva Lake in southern Wisconsin.

Paul shares, “When Jesus returns, he will come to redeem the elect. Some would call this extraordinary event the rapture of the elect. It is an out-of-body experience that occurs when God causes the soul to leave the physical body of a human being. After leaving the body, the soul is beamed up to Christ the King who is magnificently exalted in the sky above planet Earth. When the soul reaches its destination, it is metabolized into a resurrected or glorified body. This new body is perfect in every way and far superior to the mortal body that was left behind. This miraculous event is reserved for the elect who were chosen by the Creator before the creation of the world. Will you be among the chosen elect? The Author invites you to come on a whirlwind journey into the future to envision what will happen before and after the rapture of the elect.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Thomas Paul’s new book is a stirring biblical exploration that will take the readers into a journey that will enlighten their Christian spirits across pages of insights and messages about His Coming.

The Miracle Project Announces Upcoming Virtual Musical Production, The Influencer

As they work together to virtually produce, edit, act, choreograph and compose original songs, they’re also expressing feelings, sharing imagination, emotional intelligence, and empathy for each other. Some experts might say that’s impossible – they’ve done the impossible.

The Miracle Project, a fully inclusive neurodiverse theater, film, social skills, and expressive arts program for individuals with autism and all abilities, is premiering the original musical film, The Influencer, via Zoom on June 25.

This original musical follows a close-knit Midwest family as they move to the big city and become negatively influenced by work, peer pressure, and social media. Created with, starring and filmed entirely during quarantine by teens and young adults on the autism spectrum and their peers, the musical deals with making choices between what others expect of you, who you want to be, and who you truly are.

Originally set to premiere as a staged production at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, The Influencer will now be streamed twice, with the first showing on Thursday, June 25, at 5 p.m. (PST) and second on Sunday, June 28 at 4 p.m. (PST). Following each show, there will be a 15-minute live talkback Q&A discussion with the directors, editors, actors, and songwriters from The Miracle Project.

“It’s been a remarkable experience to watch our students produce an original musical from miles apart. Not only are they facing the challenges that quarantine brings everyone, but the students and young adults of The Miracle Project’s Company class have also debunked some of the common myths around autism,” said Elaine Hall, founder of The Miracle Project and director of The Influencer. As they work together to virtually produce, edit, act, choreograph and compose original songs, they’re also expressing feelings, sharing imagination, emotional intelligence, and empathy for each other. Some experts might say that’s impossible – they’ve done the impossible.”

Celebrating the diversity and inclusion of students with all abilities and those on the autism spectrum, The Miracle Project gives students the opportunity to express themselves through collaborating on creative ideas, writing, music, dancing, and acting.

RSVP’s required and can be made online at http://www.themiracleproject.org/theinfluencer. Once a guest has registered, they will receive a private zoom link for the musical.

Susie Bunt’s newly released “Someone To Believe In” holds an insightful understanding of Jesus’s teachings in His four gospels

News Image

“Someone To Believe In: A Simple Look at Jesus’s Life, Death and Resurrection”: a profound read that offers a clearer understanding of Jesus and His saving grace. “Someone To Believe In: A Simple Look at Jesus’s Life, Death and Resurrection” is the creation of published author Susie Bunt, a writer and a faithful servant to the Lord.

Bunt writes, “In this book, I wanted to give you, the reader, a different perspective on Jesus’s life and resurrection through the four gospels. My perspective is coming from a prodigal child of God—someone who grew up going to church and knowing about the Bible but never truly knowing what it really meant.

“In the last few years of my life, I have come to know God through Jesus, and I wanted to share that knowledge. I have found similar books, but they are from professional pastors, evangelists, theologists, and so on. I have yet to find a book on Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection from a simple Christian in simple language.

“Throughout this book, I have gone through Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John and gave you my understanding of Jesus’s teachings. Everything is biblical. My hope is for the reader to have that aha! moment while reading this book. I pray that the reader gets a better understanding of who Jesus is and what He has done for us (His lambs), for He is truly the Son of God, the Messiah and our Savior!”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Susie Bunt’s new book is a hope-filled creation that wishes to inspire others to follow God into faith and be blessed by Him in all manners of their life.

Brothers Heating, Cooling and Plumbing, a local HVAC and plumbing provider and part of the American Residential Services (ARS) Network of Brands, is providing a new HVAC system to Sarah Hagman-Lee, a deserving nurse as part of the ARS Cares Healthcare Heroes program. The program is an extension of the year-round, company-wide ARS Cares initiative, and is rewarding more than 50 free home services makeovers to healthcare professionals across the country during the current COVID-19 crisis.

“We received many inspirational nominations from our community, and as giving back is a key pillar of our business, we are proud to help support them through the ARS Cares Healthcare Heroes program,” said Manning Savage, Operational Manager of McCarthy Services.

McCarthy Services, a local HVAC and plumbing services provider and part of the American Residential Services (ARS) Network of Brands, is providing a new water heater to Andrew Smith, a deserving ICU Nurse as part of the ARS Cares Healthcare Heroes program. As an ICU nurse at MedStar Washington Health in DC, Andrew Smith has been diligently working on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis. In the middle of the crisis, he and his wife welcomed their first child into the world. After spending almost two months in NICU they were finally able to bring their baby home. In an effort to keep his new baby safe, Smith had been isolating from the family, staying at a hotel. When that was no longer financially possible he fixed up the family basement. A failing water heater only added more stress to the family. McCarthy Services is happy to provide much needed assistance to this local hero. The installation of Smith’s new water heater was completed on June 12.

ARS/Rescue Rooter of Raleigh Surprises Healthcare Hero on COVID-19 Frontline with Home Services Makeover

“Our employees are committed to giving back to the community, and these installations are one way we can support the selfless support of our healthcare workers as they continue to help make our community safer,” said Jason McFadden, Sales Manager at ARS/Rescue Rooter of Raleigh.

ARS/Rescue Rooter of Raleigh, a local HVAC and plumbing services provider and part of the American Residential Services (ARS) Network of Brands, is providing a new HVAC system to Mary Byrne, a deserving nurse as part of the ARS Cares Healthcare Heroes program. The program is an extension of the year-round, company-wide ARS Cares initiative, and is rewarding more than 50 free home services makeovers to healthcare professionals across the country during the current COVID-19 crisis.

“We received inspirational nominations from our community through the ARS Healthcare Heroes program, and are proud to complete these surprise home makeovers for our deserving healthcare workers,” said Jason McFadden, Sales Manager of ARS/Rescue Rooter of Raleigh. “Our employees are committed to giving back to the community, and these installations are one way we can support the selfless support of our healthcare workers as they continue to combat one of the worst public health crises and help make our community safer.”

As a nurse at WakeMed in Raleigh for over 21 years, Mary Byrne is known for her dedication and the compassion she shows to all of her patients. “She has been on the frontlines in the COVID pandemic since the beginning, and she wouldn’t have it any other way,” her daughter explains. Byrne’s HVAC system has been failing for a while, but as a widowed mother of three children she has struggled to find a way to replace it. Before her husband passed away, he renovated the upstairs of their home so their adult son with down syndrome would have a private space of his own. Unfortunately, their current HVAC issues have prevented their son from staying in this space. The installation of Byrne’s new HVAC system was completed on June 11.

Following the announcement of the ARS Cares Healthcare Heroes program on May 13, family, friends, and co-workers were invited to share stories of why a Raleigh frontline worker was deserving of home improvements that would deliver relief and relaxation. ARS received more than 400 nominations.
