Author Shares Personal Journey with Faith and Provides Suggestions on How to Implement Faith in Other Areas of Life

“I believe my views were formed though many years working in the halls of our federal government by day and ministering in the D.C. area in my spare time, nights and weekends. This book contains a unique message that is relevant to this time in our nation.”

Author Jerry Aveta has published his first book, a memoir, which tells the story of his own journey with faith throughout his life. Aveta demonstrates through personal testimony how faith is shaped through the experiences of family, community, sacrifice and heartache. In “The Evidence of Things Unseen,” a means to revitalize religious communities is suggested based on an experience with God.

Having worked in ministry for over 30 years, Aveta found himself without an outlet to express how his experiences and opinions helped him understand the current state of communities of faith and the nation at large. Aveta started writing this book in the form of journal entries covering his experience with evangelical communities of faith, how religion effects the politics of a nation and more. The book was easy for him to write because it is based on his own life and biggest passions.

“I believe my views were formed though many years working in the halls of our federal government by day and ministering in the D.C. area in my spare time, nights and weekends,” said Aveta. “This book contains a unique message that is relevant to this time in our nation.”

Ultimately, “The Evidence of Things Unseen” shares a deeply personal and enlightening story about a man learning about his own faith throughout his life experiences and the effects of it on the community and nation. With the encouragement and support of his wife, what started as an exercise of journaling his thoughts turned into the message captured in the book.

Author Delves Into The Highly Important Yet Often Overlooked Disability Ministry

News Image

The inspiration behind this book was to introduce more leaders to the ‘why’ of disability ministry and the Kingdom impact it can have.

Author James Goben provides readers with a truly thought-provoking writing in Reaching The Overlooked: Why Disability Ministry Matters ($13.49, paperback, 9781662842573; $5.99, e-book, 9781662842580).

As a parent of a child with special needs, Goben combines Scripture with hard data and a few candid personal experiences to paint a vivid picture of why disability ministry matters to the local church and the Kingdom. He shares the question about where disability ministry fits in with the goal of the church to bring people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Goben acknowledges that while the Bible has a lot to say about the disabled and their place in the church, it is often overlooked. He explains that nearly half of special needs families have left a church because there is no support for them.

When asked what inspired him to write this book, Goben said, “The inspiration behind this book was to introduce more leaders to the ‘why’ of disability ministry and the Kingdom impact it can have.”

James Goben lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado with his wife and 4 boys, one who has epilepsy, autism, and developmental delays. After years in the construction industry, God called him into ministry. In 2020, Goben graduated from Moody Bible Institute with a Bachelor of Ministry Leadership degree. He is a volunteer disability ministry leader, a full time caregiver for his son and connoisseur of the dad joke. His blog about raising a child with special needs can be found at http://www.lifewithsuperd.com. Goben enjoys hiking, hunting, fishing, shooting, woodworking, and riding dirt bikes. He is also a ham radio operator.

Sonia D. Evans’s newly released “Does God Really Have Your Back?” is an engaging exploration of faith, life’s challenges, and truly trusting in God’s plan

News Image

“Does God Really Have Your Back?”: a poignant discussion of personal and spiritual growth. “Does God Really Have Your Back?” is the creation of published author Sonia D. Evans.

Evans shares, “People often use this phrase ‘God has your back’ almost as a rhetoric. So much so that it sounds like the ‘I love you’ at the end of every phone conversation and the ‘God bless you’ when someone sneezes. It seems nice, but when the rubber meets the road, do we really have what it takes in the midst of trials and suffering to say with confidence that God has our back? Are we confident that we can affirm that statement or will we falter?

“The writer experiences a sudden challenge toward the end of 2018 and asked herself the same question. It caused the writer to reflect on the incredible journey that God brought her through, from being Catholic to a born-again Christian.

“From the dusty roads of India to the cobbled streets of Britain and on to America, where God made her dreams come true, she recounts the challenges and the faithfulness of God that affirmed to her that he had her back always. The first time Evans tried to go to America as a nurse, she attended an interview in London, and was turned down. She returned home disappointed and called another agency in America only to find out that a plane had crashed into the Pentagon. That was the day 9/11 happened. How astounding and shocking! She wondered if that would be the right choice. Was it a sign? However, she did not give up. She persevered and eventually made it to America.

“The writer relives how she came to the USA as a single person with no family and no driver’s license. Having made it as a nurse and recently as a nurse practitioner, she finds herself at the brink of yet another setback which she would like to think was a setup by the God who really had her back. The loss of a job as a new nurse practitioner. Read how a faithful God protected, delivered, and made a way for her.

“She invites you to go on the journey with her and to take courage and strength as you walk the road of faith into the unknown abyss where your faith will be tested and while your answers are still invisible. The writer gives you steps to use in the faith walk even as she practices them and goes through the challenge of waiting on God for the answer to the problem.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Sonia D. Evans’s new book is a thoughtful reflection on the peaks and valleys of a life lived in determination.

Evans shares key moments that have shaped and guided a strong relationship with God in hopes of empowering others to nurture a strong, faith-based life.

Janice H. Robinson’s newly released “God’s Whistleblower” is a thought-provoking discussion of tithing and the modern church

News Image

“God’s Whistleblower”: a powerful challenge to the established practice of tithing. “God’s Whistleblower” is the creation of published author Janice H. Robinson, a retired executive chef.

Robinson shares, “We’re in a season of unprecedented life-changing situations and circumstances. With COVID-19 and its effects on our lives—horrific death tolls, food shortages, and unemployment being at an all-time high—we are out of patience with unnecessary foolishness, lies, and deceptions of any kind. I believe that God will work it all out for our good and restore us in a mighty way, but I admonish you to use wisdom with your finances and increases that God blesses you with this time. Keep in mind that the church leaders are in collusion all across the world and will be coming for your increase with a vengeance once this pandemic eases up, and they can install that tithing lie back into its rightful place. Many have tried to tell you the truth about tithing, but now it’s my assignment, and I won’t fail. Indisputable evidence along with plain old common sense—check it out for yourself.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Janice H. Robinson’s new book will push believers to evaluate their knowledge and practices with tithing.

Robinson provides readers with a “food for thought” approach to the established norms of tithing and how they compare to God’s word.

Gateway to God’s Secret Place” is an engaging exploration of key concepts found in Matthew 6 and 7

News Image

“The Perfect Religion: Gateway to God’s Secret Place”: a thought-provoking opportunity for personal and spiritual growth. “The Perfect Religion: Gateway to God’s Secret Place” is the creation of published author Phillip Cimei, a loving husband and father of seven who is a retired principal with a M.Ed. in school administration.

Cimei shares, “The perfect religion is as hard a concept that many deny exists as is the way that Christians can be perfect and have that perfect relationship with God. Yet Jesus said in Matthew 5:48, ‘Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.’ Can we find that perfect religion? Can we find that perfection Jesus commands? And can we find that connection with God in His secret place?

“The Perfect Religion: Gateway to God’s Secret Place attempts to open the door to the room we must enter to find God, who is in the secret place. When we connect to our Father, we will understand the will of our Father. We must find that place to have that one-on-one connection and let the Holy Spirit lead us down the path of righteousness.

“When we understand this secret place’s location, we can then understand the teachings of Jesus on the Sermon on the Mount. How important are these teachings that Jesus said are God’s will and requirements to enter the kingdom of heaven? “For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.””

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Phillip Cimei’s new book will challenge and encourage readers as a series of key Christian subjects are explored.

Cimei shares in hopes of aiding others to develop and nurture a connection to God through dedicated study of His word.

Consumers can purchase “The Perfect Religion: Gateway to God’s Secret Place” at traditional brick & mortar bookstores, or online at Amazon.com, Apple iTunes store, or Barnes and Noble.

Author Hal Taylor’s new book “From the Hogpen to the Pulpit” is an inspirational story of one man who was saved and called upon to spread God’s word

News Image

Hal Taylor, a pastor for more than 50 years, has completed his new book “From the Hogpen to the Pulpit”: a gripping tale of redemption and purpose through God. In his school days, Taylor was not able to so much as speak in front of a crowd. This book is his testimony about God calling him to spread the Gospel.

Author Hal Taylor writes, “I would like to share with you my story. I want to share how I was caught in Satan’s web of sin and only by God’s grace was I able to escape his powerful grip.”

Published by Page Publishing, Taylor’s incredible redemption tale gives all glory and credit for his transformation to Jesus Christ and reminds readers of God’s power and boundless love, even for those who stray.

Though there is no literal hogpen in Taylor’s past, he uses the term to refer to any person’s life without Jesus, a life which he believes could only end in sin and despair.

“All the dreams that the world offers have only heartache, grief, and despair as their end. Thousands of people have squandered their lives on the pleasures of the world, only to find these things do not satisfy,” Taylor writes.

Readers who wish to experience this stirring and honest work can purchase “From the Hogpen to the Pulpit” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes Store, Amazon, Google Play, or Barnes and Noble.

Beyond Blindness Marks Milestone Year with 60th Anniversary Gala

In recognition of its milestone year, Beyond Blindness is pleased to announce the 60th Anniversary Gala taking place Saturday, Feb. 26 at Marconi Automotive Museum in Tustin. This year’s elevated event will honor Beyond Blindness’ legacy and its vision of creating a world where all children, no matter their abilities, are equipped to live full and rewarding lives. Joining the agency for the celebration of building bright futures is Paralympic swimmer and advocate for disability equality Becca Meyers, who will share her inspiring journey of overcoming the obstacles of being deaf-blind to win gold.

Dining in the dark, the gala’s signature element, will allow guests to personally experience the challenge of vision loss. The evening’s other festivities include a blind wine tasting, an opportunity to bid on exciting silent and live auction items, and immersive exhibits that showcase the organization’s impactful history and services.

Beyond Blindness also will introduce the Dr. Wilhelm de Nijs Vision Award, named for the organization’s Founder and first Executive Director, which honors outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to help people who are blind or visually impaired lead full and rewarding lives.

“We are humbled and proud to be part of the journey of care over the last 60 years for thousands of children with visual impairments and other disabilities, and their families,” says Angie Rowe, President and Executive Director of Beyond Blindness. “At the 60th Anniversary Gala, we are looking forward to celebrating these stories of triumph, big and small, as well as our agency’s own evolution and expansion to positively impact a wider population of children as they prepare to live their fullest lives.”

Proceeds from the 60th Anniversary Gala directly support Beyond Blindness’ Early Intervention, Education + Enrichment, and Family Support Services for children with visual impairments and other disabilities. From birth to age 22, children and their families also have access to counseling, licensed social workers, a low vision clinic, inclusive family events, transitional and individualized education plan support, and a comprehensive resource center.

This year marks a celebration of past, present, and future for Beyond Blindness. Established in 1962 in support of adults with visual impairments, the agency has continually embraced innovation and change over the last six decades. A greater emphasis on early intervention was introduced in the 1980s, ensuring children receive support from the moment they are diagnosed to put them on the best path to independence. At the 2021 Vision Beyond Sight gala, Beyond Blindness revealed its new name and brand position with an expanded vision for service that reflects the changing needs of its community. Today, the agency serves more than 300 children with visual impairments and other disabilities, as well as their families, and looks forward to accelerating its growth and impact into the next 60 years and beyond.

The 60th Anniversary Gala is presented by the Thompson Family Foundation (Diamond Sponsor), and made possible by several generous supporters, including Decade Sponsors The Glaukos Charitable Foundation, Wine Country Gift Baskets, the Konopisos Family, OSRX Pharmaceuticals, and Eide Bailly, and Uplifter Sponsors FivePoint and Carol Trapani.

Tickets for the gala are on sale until Feb. 15; individual seats are $275 or $2,500 for a table of 10 (a $2,750 value). For more information about the event and sponsorship opportunities as well as Covid-19 safety protocols, visit http://www.beyondblindness.org/special-events/gala.

Pastor Releases Modern-Day Daily Devotional Inspired by Her Discussions on Social Media

News Image

“I want people who read this book to see how God meets us when we make ourselves available to Him,” said Howard.

For author Patty Howard, the words ‘so much of our lives is influenced by how we see God’ began a two-and-a-half-year journey of listening to God every morning with the expectation that He would speak. With social media as her pulpit and her friends as her congregation, Howard shared what God gave her every day and the Holy Spirit did the rest. In her debut book, “Meet Me in the Morning: Spirit Meets Social Media,” she has gathered those meditations, originally posted on social media and compiled them into a devotional.

This daily devotional shows how scripture applies to real life, in real time and invites the reader to carry the ideas and insights beyond the page and into their daily life. Howard shares the inspiring meditations in the order she posted them on social media, encouraging self-reflection and discussion. She provides an entry for every day of the year including pages for Ash Wednesday, the Sundays of Lent, Holy Week, Easter, Pentecost and the Sundays of Advent. Howard highlights how these holy days are significant and should be observed no matter what date they fall on in a particular calendar year.

“I want people who read this book to see how God meets us when we make ourselves available to Him,” said Howard. It is her hope that these daily meditations motivate, inspire, convict and convince readers that God sees them, knows them and loves them.
