We are thrilled to once again welcome a full capacity, in-person audience to Loyd Auditorium this April

There will be “No Going Back” Friday and Saturday, April 8-9, 2022, when Freed-Hardeman University students take the Loyd Auditorium stage for the 45th annual production of Makin’ Music.

After COVID-19 forced Makin’ Music to go virtual with a limited in-person audience the last two years, in 2022 this time-honored rite of spring will be watched in person only. The three weekend performances will be Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at makinmusictickets.com.

Five student groups: Chi Beta Chi, Phi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Rho, Xi Chi Delta and an independent group will perform original songs and choreography at the three-weekend shows before awards are presented Saturday night. A team of hosts and hostesses, emcees and the Makin’ Music Show Band will entertain the audience between the competitive entries.

Hundreds of students will participate in the show as staff or cast members. The 2022 Makin’ Music hosts and hostesses are Brooks Jackson, a senior Bible major from Florence, Alabama; Josh Grooms, a junior Bible major from Duncan, South Carolina; Brooke Roberts, a junior biology major from Knoxville, Tennessee; Mallory Hollaway, a senior elementary education major from Muscle Shoals, Alabama; Kaitlyn Moore, a sophomore nursing major from Henderson, Tennessee, and Maggie Nash, a senior psychology major from Jackson, Tennessee.

The two emcees for the show are Bri Crosby, a senior child and family science major from Valdosta, Georgia, and Lincoln Shotts, a junior public relations major from Meridianville, Alabama. The voice of Makin’ Music is Lucy Johnson, a senior math major from Pinson, Tennessee. The student coordinator is Suzanna Grady, a senior biochemistry major from Murray, Kentucky.

Members of the FHU family — prospective and current students, alumni and friends — are invited to gather in Heritage Commons for the return of Party on the Green Saturday, April 9, from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. While they catch up with friends, guests also can enjoy meals from food trucks, take photos with the FHU Mobile Information Center and more. Prospective students and their families are invited to attend FHU’s Maroon & Gold Day Saturday, April 9; they may register at fhu.edu/maroonandgold. A full list of Makin’ Music weekend activities is available at fhu.edu/makinmusic.

“We are thrilled to once again welcome a full capacity, in-person audience to Loyd Auditorium this April,” Tony Allen, Makin’ Music producer, said. “Having them present to cheer for these talented and hard-working students means a great deal. This is a treasured 45-year tradition, where students make incredible memories and gain teamwork and leadership skills that they will carry with them the rest of their lives.”

The mission of Freed-Hardeman University is to help students develop their God-given talents for His glory by empowering them with an education that integrates Christian faith, scholarship and service. “The Night Before Jesus”: a potent reminder of the blessing of Christ’s birth. “The Night Before Jesus” is the creation of published author Maurio Medley, a Pittsburgh native who now lives in Florida with his loving wife, Jill, and three children, Rio, Joi, and Koa. Both Maurio and Jill are educators within the Orange County Public School system.

Told from the perspective of Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus, you will experience a firsthand look at the unlikely birth of Jesus, the Son of God. Walk with Joseph and Mary as they enter Bethlehem, nervous and unprepared. Experience the fear of not knowing where you are going to spend the most important night of your life. Stand at the entrance of the manger as baby Jesus takes his first breath. Stare into the eyes of the savior of the world with the shepherds invited by angels. Witness heaven and earth rejoice over the most important event in the history of the world. Feel the peace of this silent night turn to threats on the life of many young children as a king feels threatened by prophecy. See a shadow of the things to come as everything in the life of this child points to the reason why he was born.

“The Night Before Jesus is a story that you will read over and over again as the big day approaches. It will make the most wonderful time of the year even more spectacular. It is a story that will become an instant classic in your family. It reminds us what we are truly celebrating at Christmas.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Maurio Medley’s new book is a delightful look at the night God blessed the world.

New book is about the promises and revelations we can manifest by agreeing and declaring daily the Word of God

News Image

“Most of us are living under God’s basic standards and what God has for each one of us. We are not living God’s exceedingly abundantly overflowing life that Jesus die for us to have. We are not living in surplus abundance and prosperity, all that is because we don’t have the revelation of the Kingdom of God. Because when you have revelation, you will have transformation and that will start within your thinking first and then when you speak out the Word over your life, business and all you undertake, you activate and manifest the blessings, breakthrough,” Polina K. Mladenova states.

Written during morning revelations guided by the Holy Spirit, “Kings & Queens in Slavery” (published by AuthorHouse UK) gives readers an inside understanding of biblical promises, blessing revelations that they can manifest through their faith and decrees. “The Word must be daily declared and meditated on, in order to see your life, prosper, you must prosper first in your soul, heart in order to see outside manifestation.” These revelations are keys on how they can design the life they want through agreeing, saying and declaring the Word of God in their businesses, ministry, life, families, children and all they undertake.

“To know that your worth is the same worth of Jesus giving His life for us on the cross is like a wake-up call for some, when they had enough of not living their full potential, their best live or what God has call them to do or have or be. God says that ‘my people perish, because they don’t know the power of God and we lacking understanding, because we don’t know His laws.’ Because of ignorance, we suffer, we’ve been wipe out and treated like we are victims and failures, instead of victorious. God says ‘We are what we think and believe’. So in order to change our lives outside, we need to train, discipline and transform our mindset trough the Word of God,” Polina says

When asked what she wants readers to take away from the book, Polina answers, ‘’ You are who God says you are, what the Word says you have, what the Word says you can do, and not what the world, other people or social media is telling you. We must use our authority and dominion that God has given us to impact and transform cultures, nations, industries. Rather that been manipulated by the world system, living with the full potential of God calling and the abundant life that he has already given us to experience in every single area, by imitating Jesus. You are a Joint Heir with Him, you have 100% access to everything He has. Jesus is King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, which means we are Kings that live by decrees, and Lords that own lands and territories under our domain.” For more details about the book, please visit https://www.authorhouse.com/en-gb/bookstore/bookdetails/836384-kings-queens-in-slavery

Honoring God Through Persistence and Faith During Trying Times” is an encouraging treatise on faith

News Image

“Faithful Living: Honoring God Through Persistence and Faith During Trying Times”: a potent reminder of the strength one can draw from faithful dedication to God. “Faithful Living: Honoring God Through Persistence and Faith During Trying Times” is the creation of published author Donald R. Ruth, a loving husband, father, and grandfather who has served as pastor of St. John Baptist Church of Alsen for nearly twenty-five years.

Ruth shares, “As I write this book, the world has been shaken by a horrible pandemic, namely COVID-19. The initial impacts of this dreadful disease were first seen in America in early 2020. As of today, the COVID-19 death toll in America is nearing six hundred thousand. In addition to the tremendous loss of life, the economy was virtually brought to a standstill because of business closures that were made necessary to stop or limit the spread of this disease. As a result, many people found themselves facing a daily struggle to remain safe while yet trying to provide for themselves and their families.

“Though this book was not written to address faithful living from a COVID-19 perspective, I felt led to share about faithfulness, but from a broader perspective. Having been raised in a family that did not have very much in the way of finances, my parents, who were both strong Christians, demonstrated to me what faithfulness looked like, especially in the face of adversity.

“Hence my title Faithful Living: Honoring God through Persistence and Faith during Trying Times. They, to me, are the epitome of the title of this book.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Donald R. Ruth’s new book will encourage and challenge believers.

Ruth shares a hopeful discussion with thoughtful reflection and relevant scripture for the encouragement of those who seek a deeper connection to God.

Consumers can purchase “Faithful Living: Honoring God Through Persistence and Faith During Trying Times” at traditional brick & mortar bookstores, or online at Amazon.com, Apple iTunes store, or Barnes and Noble.

“All Under One Father in Heaven”: a gripping fiction that examines biblical teachings. “All Under One Father in Heaven” is the creation of published author Rachel Vanderwood.

Vanderwood shares, “With her best friend and fellow Guardian captured by Satan’s army of darkness, leaving her alone to defend the mortals to which they had been assigned, Trinity anxiously awaits the decision of God to either call her back to heaven or reassign her. Determined to avenge her fellow guardian angel and bring justice to those who took him from her, she is elated when the archangel Michael delivers to her the news that God has, in fact, decided to allow her to remain in England and continue her quest to protect the mortals there, as well as seek out and rescue her friend with the assistance of one of heaven’s grounded agents. Although at first eager to establish a trusting relationship with her new partner, Trinity soon finds her once confident attitude to quickly be uprooted and deflated when she learns the identity of the immortal that has been assigned to assist and protect her while she remains on earth. As she struggles to accept and come to the understanding of why God had assigned this particular agent to aide in her fight, Trinity quickly learns that his value far supersedes her initial biases against him. In their search to find Kellan, both Trinity and Jarrik discover unexpected, hidden secrets behind Trinity’s origins, and both come to learn why each was as important as the other to succeed in what they were sent to do.”

God put it on my heart to write the book.

Author Essence C. Atkins provides readers with a thought-provoking devotional in I Am: 31 Daily Reminders of Who You Are in Christ ($12.49, paperback, 9781662841545; $5.99, e-book, 9781662841552).

This beautiful book written by Atkins offers spiritual affirmations aimed to uplift, encourage, and motivate readers. Her powerful words will help people focus on the “good” while more importantly, seeing and believing it. Her positivity combined with a strong faith makes this devotional very special – an impactful start to the understanding that surrounding oneself with positivity attracts more positivity.

“God put it on my heart to write the book,” said Atkins. “And when I thought about what spoke to me during that season, I knew it was to be a book of affirmations supported by what God says in His word. And it all just came together after that. I love how God works.”

Essence C. Atkins grew up in Severn, MD and currently resides in Northern Virginia with husband and two sons. Having attended Catholic elementary school and high school, she grew up knowing about God. However, it was later on in life that she realized that she needed to come to know Him and build a relationship with Him for herself. It took Atkins some years, but in 2013 she began that journey and life hasn’t been the same since. Knowing who she is in God has been a game changer and through her writing, she can now share that with others. It began with Facebook and then the idea for this book was born. Her hope is that she can inspire others and help them start their own journeys or enhance the journeys they are already on. Atkins enjoys spending time with her family, and can often be found cheering for her youngest son and his basketball team. She also enjoys reading, watching true crime shows, and giving back.
