Seatrac Mover System

Seatrac Mover System

“It gives people the freedom and flexibility to do things on their own that before this, they had to have their friends and family do this with them, which was a Herculean task in many cases, and basically they had no freedom or independence,” said Brian Bergman

SEATRAC is an environmentally friendly solution as it utilizes solar energy as its only power source. The SEATRAC system is patented in Greece, the EU, and the USA, and TOBEA West is the exclusive distributor for the whole western hemisphere. Over the past 10 years, SEATRAC has proven popular in Europe, especially in Greece where the device was invented. There are more than 160 of these devices are in use in Europe from Italy to Latvia with more on the way.

The SEATRAC system consists of the solar powered conveyance track that is totally controlled by the user. There are currently two models, one for minimal tidal changes and one that can be moved for any tidal change and stored away in an optional SEATRAC changing and storage shed. The system provides a fixed track chair that can be moved into and out of the water if someone chooses to take a swim or just get them to the water’s edge. The system has multiple safety features and is constantly communicating its operation to the team at TOBEA.

The system also provides a series of optional services that will be there for a person with disabilities to be able to enjoy a day at the beach. Options include signage options, a changing room and storage shed as well as security locker and an optional shower and smart phone enabled login system.

“It gives people the freedom and flexibility to do things on their own that before this, they had to have their friends and family do this with them, which was a Herculean task in many cases, and basically they had no freedom or independence,” said Brian Bergman, Contract Administrator and owner of TOBEA West, Inc. and SeatracUSA.com

TOBEA West, Incorporated found at http://www.seatracusa.com has plans to provide the systems to resorts, municipalities as well as public and private beaches.

The website will soon begin to show beach locations where you can find the SEATRAC systems.

Since 2012, TOBEA (Thinking Οut of the Βox Εngineering Applications) engineers have deployed and refined systems that have been encouraging, assisting and inspiring people to gain independence and further their access to the beach and the water.

X-Bots Robotics Train Boys & Girls Clubs of America Keystone Teen Leaders on STEM Education Program to Impact Toddlers with Mobility Challenges

A Boys & Girls Clubs of America teen leader reviews the manual while a peer mentor demonstrates how to rewire the electric car that will be given to a toddler with mobility challenges.

“Through the generous support of the PPG Foundation, we’re launching a nationwide expansion of the X-Bots Robotics Mobility Program across Boys & Girls Clubs to bring STEM programming to youth who can explore these disciplines,” said Elisa Avila, Executive Director of X-Bots Robotics Inc.

During Boys & Girls Clubs of America‘s National Keystone Conference on July 24 in Anaheim, California, the X-Bots Robotics Inc. trained 100 Keystone Club teen leaders on its X-Bots Robotics Mobility Program presented by PPG to impact toddlers with mobility challenges.

The X-Bots Robotics Mobility Program is a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program that partners youth in a Robotics team with participating teens from Boys & Girls Clubs, challenging them to work together to build specially designed physical therapy cars for toddlers with cerebral disorders affecting their body mobility. Together, X-Bots Robotics, the PPG Foundation and Boys & Girls Clubs of America are facilitating an opportunity for hands-on STEM learning for teen participants to put their skills to work to serve families with toddlers who have mobility challenges. The training, held at the National Keystone Conference, will empower Keystone’s teen leaders to return to their hometown communities and Boys & Girls Clubs and encourage local leaders to offer this mobility program.

“The STEM education program gives young people an opportunity to explore possible careers in fields they would not have otherwise learned about,” said Oscar Hernandez, CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of Whittier. “We want kids and teens to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens and this partnership enables them to plan for the future while giving back and serving others.”

As Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premiere teen character and leadership program, Keystone brings together young people between the ages of 14-18 to focus on service and leadership through involvement in Keystone Club. This unique leadership development experience provides opportunities for teens to participate in activities in four key focus areas: community service, academic success, career preparation and teen outreach. With the guidance of an adult advisor, Keystone Clubs aim to have a positive impact on members, the Club and community. This year, 1,000 teens gathered in Anaheim to empower one another and their local community.

“We’re glad that together with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, we can offer this hands-on technical engineering programming that not only develops youths’ leadership skills and inspires them to pursue a career in STEM, but also serves their communities.”

The training prepares youth leaders to become peer mentors at their local Clubs, encouraging kids to apply practical solutions and share immersive lessons in engineering all while having fun. As participating Keystone Conference leaders, all youth have demonstrated exemplary leadership in academic success, career preparation, community service and teen outreach, making them well-positioned to bring back this community service to their Clubs as this training workshop is the first step to national expansion.

National Keystone Conference community service brought by X-Bots Robotics Mobility Program presented by PPG reached an estimated 160 youth (combined X-Bots Robotics teams and Boys & Girls Clubs youth leaders), and youth modified 21 cars for toddlers with mobility challenges. Five additional cars reconfigured in training workshops leading up to the conference were given to physical therapists and occupational therapists, who volunteered, for use at their clinics. There were more than 100 volunteers at the workshop.

The PPG Foundation is supporting X-Bots Robotics in its expanded program of STEM educational opportunities to impact a greater number of students, toddlers, and their families. As a global supplier of paints, coatings, optical products, and specialty materials, PPG recognizes the importance of immersing young people in STEM concepts that are linked to real-world solutions and innovations, such as robotics and mobility technology that may one day redefine solutions for our global society.

“At PPG, we know that education sits at the helm of the innovation that will shape our world for generations to come. Through this partnership, our aim is to open future opportunities to both the students who will find and explore their passions in STEM fields and families who will benefit from the new mobility cars,” said Malesia Dunn, Executive Director, PPG Foundation and Corporate Global Social Responsibility. “In all that we do, we aim to protect and beautify the world. The X-Bots Robotics program reinforces this by fueling future inventors with inspiration and the joy of experimentation and discovery while experiencing the immediate impacts both community service and STEM concepts make in the lives of others.”

The X-Bots Robotics Mobility Program has focused on applying GoBabyGo!, an open-source movement focused on real-time, real-world solutions for mobility, to provide STEM education and leadership opportunities for middle school and high school students. The program is a unique combination of peer-to-peer learning paired with a half-day hands-on workshop that draws in the families and toddlers who benefit from the finished product.

Founded in August 2015, X-Bots Robotics Inc. aims to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders by developing a passion for STEM careers at a young age. The nonprofit organization provides students with a unique opportunity to engage in hands-on technical engineering training that develops their leadership skills to inspire others through outreach efforts. ATD Aims to Increase Talent Development’s Capability in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion With New Education Offering

“A common misconception is that DEI is an initiative or program when in fact, to create a lasting impact, it must be fully integrated into an organization’s culture and talent management practices.” — Courtney Vital, vice president of learning at ATD.

The Association for Talent Development (ATD) has launched a DEI in Talent Development Certificate program that is specifically designed for talent development practitioners. It is the first education program of its kind for the L&D profession and those who develop others in the workplace.

Company culture has moved to the forefront of workplace discussions, and DEI is playing a critical role in that conversation. This certificate course explores key themes and concepts around diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and the tools necessary to support DEI in organizations. Talent professionals are in a unique position to foster more inclusive workplaces and ensure all employees are respected and engaged. They can do this by taking a holistic view of organization-wide DEI efforts, connecting these individual efforts to an overall strategy, and aligning leadership around goals and measures of impact. However, one of the most significant barriers to DEI integration is lack of clarity on who should drive efforts and how to execute those efforts in a way that will create meaningful and beneficial change.

The new ATD offering addresses those challenges by providing participants with a personal, professional, and organizational perspective on DEI and strategies to expand their mindset, practices, and influence. The course uses an interactive and practical approach designed to give participants the resources and tools necessary to communicate with key stakeholders and turn strategies into action. ATD modeled inclusivity practices in the development of this unique offering by convening a group of subject matter experts to contribute to the conversation around what a new standard of practice around DEI needed to look like for the talent development profession. This guidance directly informed what’s taught in the course and is aligned to the Cultural Awareness & Inclusion Capability of ATD’s Talent Development Capability Model™. The Capability Model gives talent professionals a blueprint of what they need to know and do to be successful as individual and organizational contributors.

“A common misconception is that DEI is an initiative or program when in fact, to create a lasting impact, it must be fully integrated into an organization’s culture and talent management practices,” said Courtney Vital, vice president of learning at ATD. “We see talent development professionals as uniquely positioned to support, enable, and drive DEI efforts because of their understanding of how people contribute to an organizational ecosystem and the levers of opportunity available to communicate, train, equip, and empower employees toward the goal of creating a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment.”

This new certificate program will help TD professionals:

  • Identify factors that shape identity and culture, including race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation/identity, age, physical abilities/qualities, and neurodiversity.
  • Discover how cultural norms affect beliefs, values, behaviors, and decisions and their potential impact on workplace dynamics.
  • Demonstrate inclusive leadership skills, including co-creating an environment where diverse perspectives are considered, using storytelling to create safe spaces, and making space for people to be seen, heard, understood, and valued.

Topics covered in this three-day in-person and virtual course include building self-awareness of DEI, exploring cultural dynamics at work, communicating within and across differences, and integrating DEI into the talent development strategy. The DEI in Talent Development Certificate is eligible for 21.0 professional development hours or recertification points from the ATD Certification Institute (ATD CI) for the APTD® or CPTD® credential and has been approved for 21.0 (General) recertification credit hours toward PHR, SPHR, and GPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute.

Information about the certificate can be found here.

ZVRS and Purple Communications Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion

I am so proud of this DEI recognition – only possible with the passion and unwavering support of our employees — and ZP remains unequivocally committed each and every day to providing a place where everyone is welcome.

ZVRS and Purple Communications (ZP), a leading provider of communication solutions for the deaf and hard of hearing community, is pleased to announce that for the third consecutive year it has been named one of the “Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion” and again earned a top score of 100 percent on the 2022 Disability Equality Index® (DEI).

The DEI, a joint initiative of leading nonprofit organizations the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and Disability:IN, is considered the world’s most comprehensive benchmarking tool for disability inclusion in the workplace. This year, ZP joins 240 companies out of a total of 415 DEI participants to receive a top score of 100.

“We are very pleased and honored to once again be recognized as a Best Place to Work,” said Sherri Turpin, CEO of ZP. “At ZP, we believe that ensuring a diverse and inclusive workplace is a must mission for every leader and every organization. I am so proud of this DEI recognition – only possible with the passion and unwavering support of our employees — and ZP remains unequivocally committed each and every day to providing a place where everyone is welcome.”

The 2022 DEI measured: culture and leadership; enterprise-wide access; employment practices; community engagement; supplier diversity and non-U.S. operations. The 2022 DEI also included new non-weighted leadership questions about including disability in corporate board diversity criteria.

“Disability inclusion is a rapidly expanding aspect of corporate culture, and it’s gratifying to partner with 415 companies on the 2022 Disability Equality Index,” said Jill Houghton, President and CEO of Disability:IN. “These top-scoring companies not only excel in disability inclusion, many are also adopting emerging trends and pioneering measures that can move the disability agenda from accommodation to inclusion and ultimately, genuine belonging.”

“There is no single best way to practice disability inclusion, however, the companies taking the DEI share the desire to create a workplace that fosters the concept of bringing your whole self to the office,” said Maria Town, President and CEO of AAPD.

“We look forward to working with all of the participants to help identify meaningful ways to build upon their current practices as we continue on the disability inclusion journey together.”

SkysTheLimit.org Celebrates Disability Pride Month; Supports Differently Abled Entrepreneurs

logo

Whatever their reasons for starting their own businesses, Sky’s the Limit is there for entrepreneurs of all abilities. At Sky’s the Limit, we celebrate all of you during Disability Pride Month.

SkysTheLimit.org (“Sky’s the Limit”), the digital community transforming the playing field for entrepreneurial success, is pleased to celebrate all the differently abled entrepreneurs who are pursuing their passions and interests by building their business from the ground up.

For many individuals with disabilities of working age, pursuing traditional employment can be a daunting prospect strewn with challenges and uncertainties. Unfortunately, a good number of these relate to whether, in today’s jobs market, it will even be possible to gain meaningful employment, given a general lack of awareness around best-practice for workplace disability inclusion.

Even for those able to successfully navigate the recruitment process and get a foot in the door, doubts and insecurities often remain over whether colleagues will be able to understand the day-to-day impact of their disability. Moreover, given that they are entering an established corporate structure with pre-existing protocols, practices and workplace culture, employees with disabilities may rightly harbor concerns over their employer’s capacity to flex to meet their changing and often complex needs.

As unfair as it may be, workplace disability inclusion awareness might be growing but still has a long way to go. These are some of the reasons why disabled people start their own businesses at a rate almost twice that of their non-disabled peers, according to the latest U.S. Census. Research shows that there are four primary reasons for disabled entrepreneurs to start their own businesses: economic motives; flexibility and self-determination; avoiding discrimination; and personal development and being able to contribute something.

Whatever their reasons for starting their own businesses, Sky’s the Limit is there for entrepreneurs of all abilities. At Sky’s the Limit, we celebrate all of you during Disability Pride Month. We invite everyone, of all abilities, to visit our platform at Skysthelimit.org and get started today, for free mentoring and coaching, business resources, and funding opportunities. At Sky’s the Limit, we believe nothing should hold you back from pursuing your business goals.

About SkysTheLimit.org:

SkysTheLimit.org is a non-profit organization whose platform connects underrepresented entrepreneurs with volunteer business professionals for free one-on-one mentoring. Sky’s the Limit’s mission is to build a global community where all entrepreneurs and their allies can build meaningful relationships and grow together. The team also provides education and training opportunities to all members as well as monthly funding opportunities.

Interprenet and London Metropolitan University Celebrate New Partnership

Interprenet and London Metropolitan University Celebrate New Partnership

We see a growing demand for remote simultaneous interpretation (RSI) and are thrilled to equip aspiring interpreters with the skills essential to a smooth, high-quality RSI experience.

Interprenet, a leading global language service provider, is pleased to announce that the first cohort of students from London Metropolitan University’s (LMU) Conference Interpretation program have completed a practice program that allows them to shadow professional interpreters during live events. As part of a partnership between Interprenet and LMU, the shadowing component kicked off in September of 2021 to sharpen the interpreter’s listening skills and their ability to recognize different accents.

The first cohort of students to successfully complete the shadowing program will now be able to move on to practice interpreting using dummy booths at real events. This component of the program allows them not only to hone their skills using Interprefy’s state-of-the-art interpreting platform, but also to prepare for unexpected situations that arise during live events. Target languages in which students practice include Arabic, Mandarin, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish. Twelve students in the class of 2021-2022 already completed the live practice interpreting program using dummy booths.

Acquiring real-life skills essential to a smooth, high-quality RSI experience

“We are delighted to see our partnership with LMU thrive and congratulate the first cohort of students who represent the next generation of world-class language interpreters,” said David Medrano, CEO of Interprenet. “We see a growing demand for remote simultaneous interpretation (RSI) and are thrilled to equip aspiring interpreters with the skills essential to a smooth, high-quality RSI experience.”

The London Metropolitan University’s master’s courses in Interpreting and Conference Interpreting are among the top postgraduate programs in the world preparing students to work as professional conference interpreters for international organizations and the private market.

“This new scheme offers a two-way dialogue between academia and employers that continuously informs the curriculum. Students can then safely apply their newly acquired know-how to real life assignments. This form of experiential learning makes all the difference to professional growth,” said Danielle D’Hayer, Associate Professor at London Metropolitan University and course leader for the Interpreting MA and Conference Interpreting MA.

“When I started recruiting interpreters for RSI back in 2018, all roads led to London, where we currently have more than 100 interpreters,” said Carolina Herrera, Global Services Director at Interprenet. “Many had been through London Met’s interpretation program, so we thought giving the students a chance to experience the challenge of real-life events would put them in a great position to find work upon graduation.”

Independent market research firm CSA Research estimates that the remote interpreting market is growing 14% compared to pre-pandemic levels. As the world of simultaneous interpreting continues to shift to remote interpreting, it is critical for aspiring interpreters to master the use of modern RSI technology and rise above the challenges of real events. The partnership between Interprenet and LMU is a key component in training interpreting students to graduate with the necessary skills to transition smoothly to the workplace.

NCIA Announces CEO and Co-Founder Herbert J. Hoelter’s Semi-Retirement and Foundation Launch

News Image

“I have always felt that everyone deserves a second chance to be successful. And I am incredibly proud of the work we have done these past 45 years providing services for over 21,000 people, often when no other agency or program was available,” said Herb Hoelter CEO and co-founder of NCIA.

After 45 years of inspiring work, Herbert Hoelter, co-founder, is stepping aside from his role as Chief Executive Officer to launch and lead a new foundation dedicated to helping the National Center on Institutions and Alternatives (NCIA) expand its resources and impact as well as continuing to operate NCIA’s Criminal Justice Services Department.

“I have always felt that everyone deserves a second chance to be successful,” said Herb Hoelter. “And I am incredibly proud of the work we have done these past 45 years providing services for over 21,000 people, often when no other agency or program was available.”

NCIA provides integrated services for disabled or disadvantaged people, community living facilities, a Youth in Transition School, career development programs for the reentry population, and many other programs that improve lives and communities.

Since its founding, NCIA has operated in all 50 states, helping with over 15,000 criminal justice cases. It has grown from its initial work in criminal justice and institutional reform to supporting over 300 adults with disabilities, 75 youth with disabilities, and 500 economically disadvantaged people every year.

We are thrilled to announce that Carole Argo, NCIA’s current COO, will be stepping into the CEO role. Argo has been with the organization for over 13 years, serving in several capacities. Before joining NCIA, Carole served in Executive leadership roles in multiple companies and industries.

“Carole is capable and dedicated, and I couldn’t be happier that she has agreed to step into the role,” Hoelter says. “Her leadership has already helped us increase our reputation, enhance our effectiveness, and make us more sustainable. Carole and I share NCIA’s values and vision, and I look forward to seeing what we all can achieve with Carole at the helm.”

As of September 1, 2022, Herb Hoelter will focus his attention on launching and growing the NCIA Foundation. He will continue to serve on NCIA’s Board of Directors.

Because the people NCIA serves face multiple challenges, including intellectual and developmental disabilities, criminal records, lack of a support network, addiction, mental illness, and homelessness, the new foundation will help provide additional resources to help staff find creative ways to support those who need help the most, especially when few other social programs exist to meet an individual’s compounding needs.

“NCIA’s model of timely intervention, unconditional support, and personal attention has become a national model,” says incoming CEO Carole Argo. “With the help of the new foundation, we will be able to continue guiding even more disadvantaged people toward productive, socially acceptable lives.”

NCIA will celebrate Herb Hoelter’s 45 years of service and the launch of the foundation on September 15, 2022, at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum in Baltimore, MD. Sponsorship opportunities are available. For more information, please contact Sandra Mock-Myers at

This name change to Amramp Accessibility is a big move for our company because it more clearly defines what our company offers to people with mobility challenges.

On Independence Day, July 4, 2022, Amramp announced a name change to Amramp Accessibility, along with a new logo, new website and a new tribal narrative – Find Your Forward.

“This name change to Amramp Accessibility is a big move for our company because it more clearly defines what our company offers to people with mobility challenges. We made the announcement on our website on Independence Day because of the freedom and independence we provide to our customers with the products and services we offer,” said Justin Gordon, CEO.

The new website features a two-minute heartwarming story about a woman who finds her forward to spend more quality time with her granddaughter.

As Gordon explains, “Your Forward is what makes you get up in the morning. What moves you to move on. For people with mobility concerns, it could be wanting to spend time with children or grandchildren…wanting to continue to be part of the community…and sometimes just returning to normal daily activities like gardening, painting, meeting with a friend…or just being able to go outside to get the mail every day by yourself. We want to help them celebrate that and share their stories.”

Based in Randolph, MA, Amramp Accessibility provides more freedom and independence for people with mobility challenges with wheelchair ramps, stair lifts,

grab bars, vertical platform lifts, pool lifts and other accessibility equipment for residential homes and commercial buildings. Amramp Accessibility has a nationwide network of franchises from coast-to-coast and parts of Canada.
