LAPD Deputy Chief Al Labrada Takes It To The Track With MotorGospel Ministries Cadet Race Team

MotorGospel Ministries Welcomes Celebrity Guest Driver LAPD Deputy Chief Al Labrada

His pit crew will consist of Cadets from LAPD Rampart Division under the supervision of 5-time champion Aaron Schwartzbart…

MotorGospel Ministries is pleased to welcome LAPD Deputy Chief Al Labrada to Irwindale Dragstrip on Thursday, September 23rd, 2021 as the latest celebrity guest driver in their anti-street-racing campaign. By competing in MotorGospel Ministries Cadet Race Team car, DC Labrada joins both luminaries such as Mayor John Lewis of La Mirada, and rehabilitated street racers that were arrested and sentenced to community service in MotorGospel Ministries anti-street-racing program. His pit crew will consist of Cadets from LAPD Rampart Division under the supervision of 5-time champion Aaron Schwartzbart and LAPD Youth Service Officers Regenia Andrews and Larry Covington.

Neil Newman and his Shoot Cut Deliver team will be filming DC Labrada’s track debut for MotorGospel Ministries latest anti-street-racing video. The partnership between Newman and Schwartzbart has resulted in more than 20 documentary shorts since 2006. Together, the two have garnered countless laurels and reached millions with the anti-street-racing message.

Schwartzbart is quick to recognize LAPD Rampart Captain Al Lopez and Sergeant Marcela Garcia for bold innovation in building bridges between the LAPD and the community. They opened the door to MotorGospel Ministries After School Auto Shop Club at Rampart Station and this led to the introduction of DC Labrada as a guest driver at the track.

In operation since 2001, MotorGospel Ministries successful anti-street-racing program has had robust support from LA City Councilmember John Lee and has been featured in multiple media outlets including CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox 11, Spectrum One, Sky News, Good Life TV, Hip Hop Weekly, the Daily News and the OC Register.

Founder Aaron Schwartzbart left the space program in 2012 after 28 years as a rocket scientist to devote full time to the ministry. With degrees in physics and theology, he is a 5-time champion race car driver and an ordained minister. Schwartzbart and the cadre of motorsports professionals supporting him volunteer their time so the anti-street-racing program can be offered at neither cost to the taxpayers nor the LAPD.

For more information, contact Officer Larry Covington at 31347@lapd.online, 213-484-3072 or Tere Schwartzbart at motorgospel@gmail.com, 818.620.7132.

Alan Ernst’s newly released “Threads of Understanding (The Journey Home)” is a spiritual exploration of the connectedness of life

News Image

“Threads of Understanding (The Journey Home)”: a potent reminder of the grand scheme of God’s plan. “Threads of Understanding (The Journey Home)” is the creation of published author Alan Ernst, a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, in 1949. Ernst survived polio at age seven, which later led to exclusion from serving in the Vietnam War. He grew up during the cultural revolution of the sixties, eventually attending art school in Pittsburgh and earning a diploma in interior design that led to a satisfying career in architecture.

Ernst shares, “As the book is titled Threads of Understanding, so are we—each life a strand that, in total, forms a world population determined at any one time by a collection of censuses. Whether or not we know at any specific moment what that total might be, we estimate or are in flux with a rash of opinions.

“Much of our life in how and what we think are based on opinions to which we feel entitled that in turn have become fact. As many of our opinions are based on emotions, personal or that of family history, with values set accordingly, we hold them important; thus substantiating the influence they have to the here and now of our personal circle of circumstance. Perhaps opinionated fact would be a better term, for it abounds in about every social interaction we are faced to deal with.

“Yet for the most part, we seem to concur with the fact that life is too short, and whether or not William Shakespeare assembled those words in phrase of understanding similar, we continue to think and say in a myriad of ways those words some speculate originated back in the seventeenth century. Is life too short, or again is that an opinion to which most would classify as a fact?

“Challenging everyone to think beyond opinion, the intent of this book is to provide those threads of understanding to which reaches far beyond that of our emotions and senses. Shake the burden of discord we find of life and that of how we feel and think about ourselves and others.

“While religions and that of seeking perpetual days of happiness seem foremost to finding meaning in life, reading this book will hopefully bring you the understanding to change the norm and in fact given time change how we live with a new appreciation of life itself and the meaning for which was intended. Though living together, we are each on our own.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Alan Ernst’s new book is a thoughtful exploration of God’s creation. He presents an eloquent discussion for the consideration of anyone who has ever questioned the how’s and why’s of life.

Charles H Atkinson’s newly released “Living in an Angry World” is a thoughtful reflection on living in the modern world that seems to be overflowing with anger

News Image

“Living in an Angry World”: a potent exploration of how faith can increase one’s joy in life. “Living in an Angry World” is the creation of published author Charles H Atkinson, a loving husband and father who devoted thirty-five years to serving as an educator. Now an octogenarian, he enjoys working with outreach programs through a local church that support those in need of comfort or assistance.

Atkinson shares, “I have spent my life in public education and have been concerned about the education of young people for many years. I served in junior high and senior high schools for thirty years. I was, I felt, called by God to be a teacher. In my mind, to be a teacher requires, first of all, a love for those that you teach. As a teacher, guidance counselor, and administrator, I have seen students and parents in the act of growing up together.

“At the same time, God has been good to me in that he has placed love and concern for people in general as a part of my nature. I am eternally grateful for that.

“I am now getting some age on me, and though I have been a people person all my life, I see other people who seem to be doing more for God than I have done, and I must say that I am ashamed that I have not done more.

“It has been on my mind and heart that I needed to do more to help people. I have watched as our nation and the world have seemed to be angry. There are lots of things that people can be angry about. And I am thinking, from what I am seeing, that there are many people out there who use every one of them as a way to express their anger.

“As I lay on my pillow at night, God seemed to bring to my mind certain scriptures from the Bible that I have been schooled in all my life. The message seemed to push me to examine what I was seeing as a part of our social order and see if I could apply what God was saying in his Word to helping people realize that the answers we are seeking can only be found in the teachings of God’s Word.

“To that end, I have tried to examine problems that I was seeing and to provide some help for those who are angry and hurting themselves and others. If I have been able to do that in this work, give God the glory. He is the answer to the unrest of the human soul. Only he can solve our anger problem. May God bless you as you seek his guidance. I have no answers; only God does!”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Charles H Atkinson’s new book is an encouraging and thought-provoking discussion of modern struggles and God’s unending grace.

With reflections and strategically selected scripture, Atkinson hopes to inspire those in need of God’s encouraging presence.

Freed-Hardeman University Climbs into U.S. News & World Report’s Top Five Best Value Schools

Freed-Hardeman University’s campus

We are delighted to be recognized as one of the top five universities for Best Value; we know the amazing faculty and students we see here each day, but it is an added confirmation when outside sources recognize the academic excellence too.

Freed-Hardeman University continued to move up in the U.S. News & World Report rankings released Sept. 13, 2021. FHU is ranked in the Top Five of the magazine’s Best Value Schools; it is the sole representative of universities supported by members of the churches of Christ to appear in the rankings.

The Best Value ranking specifically considers a school’s academic quality and the 2020-21 cost of attendance for a student who received the average level of need-based financial aid. Last year, FHU ranked eighth; this year, it is ranked fourth.

FHU also moved up five spots, from 36 to 31, in the magazine’s rankings of Regional Universities—South. It is the only school affiliated with churches of Christ to appear in the top 100 in the regional ranking.

“A mission that focuses on our Lord should strive for excellence. Therefore, we are delighted to be recognized as one of the top five universities for Best Value,” FHU President David R. Shannon said. “We know the amazing faculty and students we see here each day, but it is an added confirmation when outside sources recognize the academic excellence too. However, the most important confirmation is seen in our enrollment growth, which means that our students and their families concur with the U.S. News & World Report’s assessment. To Him be the glory.”

For the third consecutive year, FHU had a record fall enrollment with a total headcount of 2,320, a 6% increase over the previous year. Undergraduate enrollment at FHU jumped 4% for a record 1,797, including the greatest number of first-time freshmen in 11 years. The full-time equivalent of 1,630 is also a record. The Fall 2021 enrollment also packed residence halls, with 1,206 students living on campus, the most ever.

Each year U.S. News & World Report assesses the nation’s institutions of higher education on 17 measures of academic quality. This year, the magazine considered 1,466 bachelor’s degree-granting institutions. The 2021 edition can be found at http://www.usnews.com/colleges.

The mission of Freed-Hardeman University is to help students develop their God-given talents for His glory by empowering them with an education that integrates Christian faith, scholarship and service. With locations in Henderson, Memphis and Dickson, FHU offers bachelor’s, master’s, specialist and doctoral degrees. Additional information about the university may be found at http://www.fhu.edu.

Donald H. Ledbetter’s newly released “No…I Won’t Go There” is a moving argument for the importance of rejecting temptation and sin

News Image

“No…I Won’t Go There: When We Understand Who We Are in Christ We Will Not Allow Our Mind to Fulfill the Temptation to Sin”: a potent statement dealing with temptation in the Christian life. “No…I Won’t Go There” is the creation of published author Donald H. Ledbetter, who has served in several ministries over a dedicated sixty-year career. He carries three degrees: a Bachelor of Arts (1959), a Master of Divinity (1962), and a Doctor of Theology (1975).

Dr. Ledbetter shares, “In this writing, we have considered how Jesus set the pattern for our early Christian faith in the Great Commission and how a spiritual battle can be expected as we learn to overcome the old sin nature. We learn that the baptism by the Holy Spirit occurs when the Holy Spirit immerses the new believer spiritually into the death of Jesus on the cross. As the new believer surrenders to the indwelling Christ, the filling of the Holy Spirit is experienced. However, when we sin against the Holy Spirit by lying to, grieving, or quenching Him, our fellowship with Jesus is broken and must be restored by confessing our sin. Because we have the power of the resurrected Christ living in us, we begin our new life in Christ from the position of victory, seated together with Jesus in heavenly places. Even though we have this position of victory, we are tempted by the old sin nature, but a way of escape is provided by our saying, “No, I won’t go there,” to the temptation. Through this journey we learn to surrender our all to Jesus so He becomes our life as we live each day here on this earth. When we do this, Jesus lives His life through ours.

“It is my earnest prayer this book will enable us to understand how much God loves us and who we have become in Christ. Because of who Christ is in us through the Holy Spirit, we have the authority to say no to the temptation of sin. When Jesus is our life we live with joy, peace, and victory in our hearts, whatever the circumstances of life may be.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Donald H. Ledbetter, Th.D.’s new book is a thoughtful look into the author’s teachings on living a godly life for Christ.

The author writes in hopes of encouraging and inspiring those who may not know what path to take to truly have Jesus within their life.
