Chicago Family Law Firm Promotes Attorney Andrew Ference to Partner

Attorney Andrew B. Ference promoted to Partner at Weiss-Kunz & Oliver, LLC

Beyond his abilities in the courtroom or behind a desk, Andrew is simply a guy you want to be around. He is hard-working, interesting, funny, and loyal. In a case, his scrutiny and application of law to facts make him hard to compete with.

The law firm of Weiss-Kunz & Oliver, LLC is honored to announce that Attorney Andrew B. Ference has been promoted to Partner. Attorney Ference brings an unparalleled style of advocacy to each case, whether highly litigated or quickly resolved.

Andrew B. Ference is recognized by Judges and his peers as a skilled litigator and negotiator. He navigates complex legal issues and high net worth estates with precision and practicality and is dedicated to balancing the legal rights and emotional needs of his clients.

Andrew’s wit and wisdom make him a dynamic attorney and a pleasure to deal with in and out of the courtroom. He knows the law. This may seem basic, but a short time among many lawyers will reveal that this is in fact a hallmark of a great attorney, not just any attorney. He is thoughtful in his approach, tending to the individual needs of each client and family while crafting successful strategies that address their goals.

Andrew is pragmatic in his practice, honed from years of experience with Judges. He has a clear understanding of what individual Judges are looking for and how to deliver it in a fashion that is palatable and that sticks.

“We are excited to promote Andrew to partner here at WKO. He is an aggressive litigator, but lends an attentive ear to the needs of our clients. Andrew knows when to talk settlement and when to prepare a case for trial. He brings all the things you want in a partner and we are proud to call him one of our own,” adds Maxine Weiss Kunz, WKO Principal.

Andrew Ference has held membership with the Illinois State Bar since 2012. He is a graduate of Bradley University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in 2009. In 2012, Mr. Ference earned his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law. During his time in school, Attorney Ference spent his time volunteering with St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the Family Advocacy Clinic.

A Cookbook for Romance Readers

Now Available! Love in the Mix: A Cookbook for Romance Readers

Nothing is as vital to a successful and enriched life as the ability to read and, as romance writers, no one appreciates this skill more. ProLiteracy has worked for decades to provide the opportunity for people to become literate, said Authors Leslie Hachtel and Nikki Brock

Authors Leslie Hachtel and Nikki Brock teamed up to support ProLiteracy by collaborating on a cookbook anthology of beloved family recipes from prominent romance authors.

Love in the Mix: A Cookbook for Romance Readers features recipes from romance authors like Kristan Higgins, Lorraine Heath, Collette Cameron, J. Kenner, Dee Davis, Sharon Sala, Tracy Brogan, and Lori Wilde.

Within the pages of Love in the Mix you’ll find recipes from around the world, with anecdotes from the authors about the meaning of each recipe.

Published by ProLiteracy, the cookbook is now available for purchase on Amazon and other major online book retailers. Additionally, it will be available during ProLiteracy’s Great American Book Sale, September 20–26, 2021.

Sale proceeds from Love in the Mix: A Cookbook for Romance Readers will support the mission of ProLiteracy. Additionally, all funds raised during ProLiteracy’s Great American Book Sale will be directed to ProLiteracy grant programs including National Book Fund and Mobile Learning Fund.

“Nothing is as vital to a successful and enriched life as the ability to read, and, as romance writers, no one appreciates this skill more. ProLiteracy has worked for decades to provide the opportunity for people to become literate,” said Hachtel and Brock. “We came up with the idea for a cookbook anthology to raise money for this valuable pursuit, hoping those who read our books will appreciate some of our history in the kitchen, and we look forward to seeing what impact the proceeds of this book will bring.”

“Romance authors have held ProLiteracy dear for decades, so we are thrilled to be working with Leslie Hachtel and Nikki Brock on this unique and creative anthology” said ProLiteracy’s Senior Director of Development Lara Pimentel. “Collaborating on this project gets the word out about our mission while raising funds that will have a lasting impact on learners and local literacy programs, at a critical time.”

Newly Renovated Historic Hacienda, The Santa Cruz, Is Now Booking Micro Weddings, Special Events, and More

El Sagrado Chapel at The Santa Cruz

El Sagrado Chapel at The Santa Cruz

If you want the Santa Fe and northern New Mexico experience, this is it.

The Santa Cruz, a 4,500-square-foot old-world hacienda located in the Santa Cruz River Valley, was recently restored and is now open for bookings.

Rich with history and built in the early 1800s, the structure was originally the only stagecoach stop for travelers making the journey from Santa Fe to Taos along the El Camino Real. The on-site private chapel—a charming, mission-style sanctuary named El Sagrado—is 250 years old and was one of the first erected in the area.

“If you want the Santa Fe and northern New Mexico experience, this is it,” says Amanda Tucker, who owns The Santa Cruz along with her husband, Rick Goldberg. “It’s steeped in culture and history. Better than a hotel any day of the week.” Amanda’s interior design firm, Bohome Interiors, furnished The Santa Cruz with a nod to its background, including hand-carved furnishings, rough-hewn beams, Native American artifacts, rugs, vintage pieces, and colorful folk art.

The home, built with authentic adobe brick, boasts four large bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms, seven fireplaces, a sunroom, bar, and a library that includes a comfortable remote workstation complete with high-speed internet throughout the home. Situated behind a gated entrance, the three-acre grounds are equipped with a swimming pool, hot tub, creek, veranda, generous courtyard, and private chapel.

The Santa Cruz is ideal for micro weddings, where couples have a place to tie the knot and invite their loved ones to stay with them. The property is flush with huge cottonwood trees, ancient weeping willows, colorful flower gardens, and a pristine view of the Sangra de Cristo Mountains. The newly renovated chapel can host an intimate wedding for up to 40 guests, while the outdoor garden can host up to 150 guests. And for those planning larger weddings, there is plenty of space to erect a large tent on the grounds. The venue has a wide array of amenities, its own available staff, and parking for up to 50 cars.

Amanda and Rick have an inclusive approach to working with outside vendors. All wedding planners, event planners, and caterers of the bride and groom are welcome. “We want everyone to experience a weekend of quality time and memories with people you love and hold closest to you,” says Amanda. “We did that for our wedding, and it was an unforgettable experience.”

In addition to weddings, The Santa Cruz is fully equipped to host reunions, yoga retreats, bachelor and bachelorette parties, workshops, spa weekends, corporate events, and more. “We threw a music and fashion show during the SWAIA Native Art Market, and the event was perfect,” says Juliana Brown Eyes. “Beautifully renovated rooms surrounding the courtyard with plenty of space and amenities, the fantastic pool and hot tub. All of it was perfect, and Rick and Amanda were very easy to work with and helped us plan and staff everything. The Santa Cruz is a truly unique venue for unforgettable events.”

About The Santa Cruz

Owned by Amanda Tucker and Rick Goldberg, The Santa Cruz is one-third of the couple’s growing hospitality business. The 4,500-square-foot home, located only 25 minutes north of Santa Fe, boasts a pool and hot tub, a pristine view of the Sangra de Cristo mountains, four large bedrooms, a hacienda-style courtyard, and private chapel. Situated on three lush acres, the home makes a wonderful venue for intimate weddings and a wide array of events. Rick and Amanda’s hospitality business includes two other beautiful Santa Fe properties: Luna Vista in Tesuque and Our Canyon Home near Canyon Road.

About Bohome Interiors

Owned by Amanda Tucker, Bohome Interiors is an interior design firm specializing in creating story-rich atmospheres inspired by culture and history. “The discovery of unexplored places is exactly what pushes me to keep traveling, and, in turn, travel has pushed me to create. I am inspired by the colors, textures, sights and smells that accompany me on each adventure,” says Amanda. Mesmerized by the rare, unique, and eclectic, Amanda seeks to turn each space—whether it be a primary residence, second home, or just one room—into a beautifully detailed sanctuary that transmits the owner’s unique story.

Newly Launched App Helps Users Exercise Relationship Skills and Build Meaningful Connections Through Focused, Regular Interactions

Good Together App

Relationships happen a little at a time, day by day and unfortunately also die the very same way, one missed interaction after another.

As people struggle to connect and loneliness becomes an epidemic of its own, short, meaningful interactions are more important than ever. Jerry Brook, Relationship Guru and Author of Good Together: A Journey Through Relationships designed a free App to help people strengthen their personal and professional relationships in as little as 3, 5 or 7 minute increments. The platform encourages users to focus on their relationships with the same consistent approach of successful exercise programs.

People are searching for ways to build and maintain healthy relationships. It’s my hope that the “Good Together” App will encourage and inspire individuals and groups to exercise those relationships through fun, personalized interactions,” said creator Jerry Brook.

He continued, “Proper exercise is done daily or at least every other day consistently. Relationships are no different. Whether they are family, friendship, intimate, or business relationships, they all have this in common. Relationships happen a little at a time, day by day and unfortunately also die the very same way, one missed interaction after another. Relationships are like exercise and require appropriate interactions a few minutes per day in order to be built and maintained. That’s why I created an app to facilitate regular interactions, timed to just a few minutes per interaction.

Users begin by adding professional and personal relationships in the app. Those relationships are then added to social circles or groups of relationships. The interactions start with four major relationship categories: Family, Friends, Work, and Intimate.

Users can then create their own social circles such as, Parents, Children, Siblings, High School Friends, Work Friends, the possibilities are endless.

Each social circle has a specific set of interactions. There are randomly selected tasks for meaningfully interacting according to the type of relationship.

Players create personal, custom lists of interactions unique to their social circles. They can select an individual relationship, or an entire social circle to begin.

The app randomly selects a time frame of 3, 5, or 7 minutes in duration. The app also randomly selects a player from the list of possible players and an item from the list of interactions for that social circle.

The app removes the burden of time and tasks. There is no fear of trying to decide what to do in the moment or of missing out on meaningful connections due to time constraints. The Good Together app is also customizable for each user.

About the “Good Together” App

The “Good Together” App was created to help people strengthen their personal and professional relationship through fun, personalized interactions. It was created by Author and Relationship Guru Jerry Brook. Jerry fuses his relationship experience with a background in analytics to help others maintain better relationships. As an Industrial Computer Controls Specialist, Jerry’s experience in problem solving and analytical thinking inspired him to look at relationships in a similar way. In addition, he also draws on his own personal relationships to offer practical, intelligent, and sometimes funny relationship stories and advice. He currently lives in Houston, Texas. Local Venue Reveals Tiny Chapel for Weddings and Special Events

Tiny_Wedding_Chapel_Barre_Massachusetts

Tiny Wedding Chapel at Hartman’s Herb Farm in Barre, Massachusetts.

We couldn’t be more thrilled that the construction is complete and we are able to open this special chapel to our brides and grooms.

Hartman’s Herb Farm, Central Massachusetts’ hidden gem for weddings and events, today revealed its new wedding chapel, offering a unique and special location for clients’ ceremonies. At the bed and breakfast and event venue located in Barre, Massachusetts, couples can exchange nuptials or renewals at this quaint and breathtaking chapel.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled that the construction is complete and we are able to open this special chapel to our brides and grooms,” states Carissa Hartman-Wozniak, owner of Hartman’s Herb Farm. “We’ve never seen anything like this in the area. It’s a non-denominational chapel and something out of a fairy tale.” What makes this chapel so special? It was built by Hartman-Wozniak’s brother for his bride.

The white clapboard chapel with soft green trim was designed and built by Ross Hartman, for his May 2021 wedding. A craftsman and residential contractor by trade, Hartman built the 144-square-foot chapel for his bride, with the dual purpose of providing his sister with a new setting for her clients’ events. Couples can get married on the chapel’s rounded front porch, while guests witness from their seats arranged in the courtyard adjacent to the chapel.

Blending in seamlessly with its surroundings, the chapel features rough-hewn beams, a slate roof, and custom-woodworking throughout. Hartman incorporated many special architectural antiques into the construction including stately French doors saved from a Rhode Island mansion, a bell from a church in New Hampshire, and an arched, leaded-glass window salvaged from the first school his bride went to as a child. Honoring his family’s heritage, Hartman added Swedish-inspired details in the woodwork.

Located in Barre, Massachusetts, Hartman’s Herb Farm has been hosting weddings and special events for more than 40 years. The family-run venue is a New England style farmhouse, with large ceilings, exposed beams, and stone fireplaces. The farm also offers accommodations through its five-room bed and breakfast. Hartman-Wozniak, who purchased the business from her parents in 2007, further rounds out their offerings with floral arrangements, cakes and catering, greenhouses, a gift shop, and now the tiny wedding chapel.

Manly Bands Debuts on the Inc. 500 as One of the Fastest-Growing Companies in America

Manly Bands is announcing their debut on the Inc. 500, one of the most prestigious rankings of startups in the country. As the leader for ecommerce men’s wedding rings, Manly Bands is being recognized for the incredible growth they have achieved in just a few short years, transforming a niche category to a disruptive retail industry.

The Inc. 500 has been the first milestone of significant success for some of the world’s most notable small businesses, including Zappos, Under Armour and Patagonia. However, to be named to the Inc. 500, brands must demonstrate superior growth and innovation in their respective market spaces over a period of three years. Judges evaluate revenue growth, entrepreneurial leadership, and effective public relations from tens of thousands of companies in order to award them with national notoriety.

“This is an exciting opportunity for our company,” says co-founder Johnathan Ruggiero, “It’s hard to imagine we first started only a few years ago with a Shopify storefront in an RV. Now, we’re the most popular ecommerce wedding ring brand for men in the United States, and still seeing incredible growth as more couples are choosing wedding bands that represent their personalities, passions, and unique relationships.”

When Manly Bands was founded in 2016, the market for men’s wedding rings was largely ignored. Wedding bands for women already had a wide selection of options, however it wasn’t until Johnathan Ruggiero and Michelle Luchese tried to find the perfect rings for each other that they realized there was huge potential for growth. By prioritizing creative designs, unique materials and excellent customer service they have reinvented the way couples shop for their wedding rings.

Co-founder Michelle Luchese says, “To make the Inc. 500 is a huge honor, but it’s also just the beginning for our brand. With new brand integrations and the launch of our sister company, Rosie Ray, we’re revolutionizing wedding jewelry for all!”

Manly Bands has previously been recognized by Rolling Stone Magazine, Forbes, JCK Online and other publications for their modern designs, simple personalization options, and savvy brand partnerships with Jack Daniel’s and the MLB.

Now one of the top few hundred brands on this year’s Inc. 500, Manly Bands has its sights set on expanding their majority market share and exploring new brand partnerships to continue to attract the attention of couples looking for wedding rings that uniquely define who they are. Manly Band’s position on the Inc. 500 can be found at http://www.inc.com/inc5000/2021 and more about the company can be found at ManlyBands.com.

Military Marriage Day Set to Celebrate Both Oaths and Vows of Military Couples Amid Higher Divorce Rates of Deployed Military Members

B. Carroll Events presents Military Marriage Day (MMD), an annual event designed to celebrate both oaths and vows of U.S. military couples. The second annual event, sponsored by Armed Forces Insurance, will kick off virtually on Saturday, August 14, 2021, with an overarching vision to build strong relationships through inspiring moments and greater growth and connection to military couples.

In 2019, Military One Source reported that 30,608 active duty, guard, and reserve marriages ended in divorce. A recent study by the career website Zippia looked at professions with the highest divorce rates among those under 30, based on the U.S. Census Bureau data. Three of the top ten professions involved military jobs. First-line enlisted military supervisors had the highest divorce rate, at 30 percent. According to other studies, deployed military members in the U.S. Navy, Marines, Army, and Air Force have higher than average divorce rates. The Air Force had the highest rate, at 14.6 percent, with the Navy at over 12.5 percent and the other two branches as high as 8 percent. The impact of these statistics sends ripples that fracture service families, hinder the mission, and causes financial strain and stress to an already challenging lifestyle.

MMD was created and founded at the height of the pandemic by Bree Carroll, 2020-2021 Armed Forces Insurance Air Force Spouse of the Year®, during a time when maintaining healthy relationships seemed harder than usual. As a military marriage coach, Carroll created a safe space that celebrated military couples and provided resources to strengthen pandemic-stressed marriages.

“It is more than just a holiday; the divorce rate isn’t lost upon us, and we are determined to equip couples through our Military Marriage Resource Directory,” said Carroll, which will serve as a support to all active, retired, and reserve married couples.

“As an event sponsor, at AFI, Our Mission is You®, and we wholeheartedly support this movement to celebrate the member and spouses’ commitment to service and one another,” said Lori Simmons, Lori Simmons, VP & Chief Marketing Officer at Armed Forces Insurance.

First Command is proud to continue our sponsorship of Military Marriage Day,” said Kellie Richter, First Command’s Chief Marketing and Client Experience Officer. “During our 60-plus years of providing financial coaching to our Nation’s military families, we have consistently seen that military couples who are strongly committed to each other are best positioned to pursue lifelong financial security.”

“We’re humbly honored to partner with Bree Carroll’s Military Marriage Day,” said Taya Kyle, Founder of the Taya and Chris Kyle Foundation (TACK-F). “Marriage impacts generations in a way nothing else does. Our experience and research show how different military marriages are from civilian marriages. At TACK-F, we are dedicated to providing the tools service couples need to save their marriages. Military Marriage Day is an amazing virtual experience where couples will hear from others and know they are not alone, they are understood, and they are loved by people who get it.”
