The SEATRAC Mover system consists of the solar powered conveyance track that is totally controllable for any tidal changes and stored away in an optional SEATRAC Combination ADA Compliant Changing Room / Storage Room. The system provides a fixed track chair that moves an individual into and out of the water. If someone chooses to take a swim or just get partially into the water, the system is the ideal way for them to do so unassisted. The system has multiple safety features and is constantly communicating to the team at TOBEA.

The system also provides a series of optional services available that will be there for a person with disabilities to be able to enjoy a day at the beach. Options include ADA compliant signage, an ADA compliant changing room / storage room as well as a security locker, an optional ADA compliant shower & chair with grab bars. For user security a smart phone enabled 2-Step authentication system is available on any SEATRAC system. The solution can also include ultra strong 13′ square umbrellas for lounging areas on portable walkway sections, all to provide the ideal total Beach Experience.

“It gives people with disabilities the freedom and flexibility to do things on their own that before this, they had to have their friends and family to help them, which was a Herculean task in many cases, and basically wheelchair users & those with disability issues, they had no freedom or independence,” said Brian Bergman, Contract Administrator and owner of TOBEA West, Inc. and SeatracUSA.com

TOBEA West, Incorporated found at www.seatracusa.com has plans to provide the systems to resorts, municipalities as well as public and private beaches.

The website will soon begin to show beach locations where you can find the SEATRAC systems.

Since 2012, TOBEA (Thinking Out of the Box Engineering Applications) engineers have deployed and refined systems that have been encouraging, assisting and inspiring people to gain independence and further their access to the beach and the water safely over 500,000 times with zero injuries.

Do Consumers Support Farms with Beginning and Female Farmers?

New research released by AAEA members and President in JAAEA

MILWAUKEE, Aug. 30, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Between 2013 and 2017, farms managed by beginning farmers in the U.S. only accounted for 17 percent of all farms and 8 percent of total agricultural production, those numbers keep decreasing, unfortunately. The average net worth of beginning farm households is about half the size of established operations, and the average farm size of women-operated farms is half that of their male counterparts.

In the new study “Do Consumers Support Beginning and Female Farmers?,” published in the Journal of the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association, Shuoli Zhao from the University of Kentucky, Michelle Segovia from the University of Delaware, Marco Palma and AAEA President Rudy Nayga from Texas A&M University, and Ronald Rainey from the University of Arkansas study if consumers support the entrepreneurial activities of beginning and female farmers.

The authors state, “There is an aging farming population and we do not have enough entrepreneurs replacing retiring farmers. Having strong consumer support for beginning farmers could be the catalyst for farming interest, profitability, and competitiveness, especially for new, female, and minority farmers. While our study confirms a willingness to support through effort provision, policy assistance is still vital, impacting areas like access to credit, land, equipment and continued education assistance.”

4kiz, a Social Networking App for Kids Under 13, is Now Available Globally in Six Languages

4kiz, Inc. has recently released English, Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese, and Korean versions of “4kiz,” a social networking application for children under 13, and has begun global distribution in six languages in addition to Japanese.

TOKYO, Aug. 30, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — 4kiz, Inc. has recently released English, Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese, and Korean versions of “4kiz,” a social networking application for children under 13, and has begun global distribution in six languages in addition to Japanese.

https://4kiz.net/

All major social networking services (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, etc.) are restricted to those 13 years of age or older under their terms of use. But with many children under the age of 13 possessing smartphones and tablets in recent years, an increasing number of elementary school students are using existing social networking services in violation of their terms of use, exposing them to unsafe situations.

To solve this issue, “4kiz” was developed as a safe and secure social networking application for children under 13 that allows children to post and share short videos and images of their drawings, artworks, insect and plant observations, cartoons, cooking, programming, and other works, as well as their daily lives.

The Japanese version was first released in the summer of 2022, and has been used by more than 10,000 children, who have posted a wide variety of contents and interacted with one another. It has been reported on television, newspapers, and online media, and has attracted attention as a safe social networking service specialized for children. Based on the success of the Japanese version, 4kiz have now started global distribution in six languages (English, Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese, and Korean).

─ 4kiz has the following main features and functions.

【Free for children ages 4-12 from their smartphones and tablets】

  • The 4kiz application can be installed for free on smartphones and tablets from the “App Store” on Apple devices or “Google Play” on Android devices.
  • Children between the ages of 4 and 12 can register for use upon parental approval.

【Nurture children’s creativity by posting short videos and images of their creations.】

  • Short videos or images of 5 to 60 seconds are allowed for submission. Media can be edited within the 4kiz application by taking new pictures, loading existing files, and placing text and stickers on the video or image.
  • This gives children an opportunity to enhance expression, communication, and creativity by posting short videos of creative works such as drawings, insect and plant observations, picture diaries, songs, cartoons, performances, programming, pets, discoveries, and scenes from daily life.

【Expand children’s curiosity and connect over what they love.】

  • Follow, comment, hashtag, and trend functions, as well as a recommendation function that displays recommended posts and friends, can help foster a healthy community where children can connect with one another and stimulate their curiosity about what they like.
  • The community function allows users to create groups based on their favorite themes and chat with each other in real time.

【Stimulate communication among family members】

  • Not only parents, but also grandparents and relatives can be invited as family users to view and comment on the children’s posts.
  • The system also has a separate comment section for children of the same age group and a family comment section that only family members can see, allowing children to comment without feeling shy, thus helping to stimulate family communication.

【Implemented safe and secure design】

  • Children’s privacy is protected by using a nickname as a username, and instead of the child’s portrait, each user can create their own avatar from illustration designed by a picture book artist.
  • Words that encourage bullying, slander, and crimes are set to be detected so that they cannot be written, thus preventing cyberbullying, and enhancing safety.
  • Inappropriate posts are automatically detected by AI to prevent inappropriate content from being displayed to children.
  • Parental control functions allow parental accounts to regulate comments, likes, and follows, decide whether parental confirmation is required before posts are made public, and set usage hours for their children.

─ 4kiz users’ comments and reviews

“My daughter has always watched YouTube and TikTok on her own, so I was worried about a lot of things, but now that we have this app, she jumped right in and started posting! She posts her illustrations because she loves to draw, and she enjoys getting advice in the comments!”

“My elementary school daughter, who has always loved drawing, is really into it. When she posts illustrations, she has drawn on the drawing app, she is happy to receive comments and likes from other children and to exchange requests with them. As a parent, I feel safe letting her use this app because there are no exchanges of bad words or slander like on other social networking services.”

“My child was interested in social media, but I was worried about letting my child use a social networking service that adults use, so I used this one. The text and screen design are cute. My child was immediately interested in posting and seems to enjoy using it.”

─ Android version (Google Play) and the iOS version (App Store) can be installed free of charge from the following URLs.

─ The mission of 4kiz, Inc.

4kiz, Inc.’s mission is to “create connections around the world that will help children realize their unlimited potential.” Through this social networking application, 4kiz aims to develop children’s curiosity by connecting them with their favorite things, and to foster their creativity by sharing their creations with one another.

It is a new online learning platform for children and a new SNS (Social Networking Service) = “Social Networking School.” By implementing a design that allows parents and children to work together and enhances safety, 4kiz will create a safe community and provide opportunities for children to output for healthy communication and connection online.

During the tour, students will cheer on their classmates while learning about real money matters such as budgeting, saving, and investing. The first leg of Million Bazillion Live! will visit: Kansas City, MO; Dallas / Ft. Worth, TX; Austin, TX; Fayetteville/Little Rock, AR; Baton Rouge, LA; Atlanta, GA; Charlotte, NC; Washington, DC; Philadelphia, PA; and New York, NY. The second half of the tour will commence in Spring 2024.

“We’re excited to continue our partnership with Greenlight to bring this crucial programming and essential life skills to schools across the nation,” said Neal Scarbrough, Vice President and General Manager at Marketplace. “This initiative is an extension of Marketplace’s mission to bring more young Americans under the tent of financial literacy and empower them with the knowledge they need to successfully navigate their futures.”

Personal finance education still isn’t a requirement for students to graduate in all 50 states. 27 states don’t require a personal finance course, even though teens score an average of 64% on the National Financial Literacy Test. At the same time, 93% of teens know they need financial knowledge and skills to achieve their life goals — and 97% of parents agree.*

“At Greenlight, we’ve always been focused on empowering young people with the financial knowledge, skills, and confidence they need for a healthy future through our award-winning banking app and engaging educational resources,” said Jennifer Seitz, Director of Education at Greenlight. “With the upcoming Million Bazillion Live! tour, we look forward to reaching even more families and educating local communities on the critical topic of financial literacy in a fun and entertaining way.”

“American Public Media has principles that guide how we partner with brands while honoring the trust and reputation our programming has earned with audiences,” said Tom De Napoli, Vice President of Revenue Strategy at APM. “Our partnership with Greenlight is a great example of how each campaign we develop must offer cultural meaning to our audiences, drive business results for our partners, and elevate the content it surrounds. With the Million Bazillion Live! tour, we are extending our public media mission into new storytelling spaces – classrooms across the country – to educate the next generation about financial literacy.”

FHU Students Spread God’s Love on Spring Break Mission Trips

One particular encounter touched the hearts of many on the trip. “In one home there was a young girl who was a stroke victim, and she wanted a Baby Yoda plush doll. Some of the students made the trip into the city, about an hour away, and found one to buy for her. We were all moved,” Gough said.

Members of Sigma Rho spent time at Seamark Ranch in Green Cove Springs, Florida. The experience was so enjoyable for students Bethany McGee and Hannah Howell that they plan to return next year. Seamark Ranch is a Christian home to nurture and support children from families in crisis.”

“I never realized how much a place like that could impact kids. We think this can be an opportunity for us to return continuously and build a relationship with Seamark because they really did touch our hearts while we were there,” McGee said.

Xi Chi Delta traveled to the Navajo nation in Kayenta, Arizona, where they packed goodie bags and fellowshipped with the residents in the area. “It was a great opportunity for the whole group to experience a different culture,” Makenna Minor said.

“My story could be the story of tens of thousands of nonwhites, mixed race, people of color, ethnicity, culture, class, and caste born and living in a world of white supremacy,” said Scheepers. “I am not seeking empathy, as I have grown to embrace opportunities of privilege and leadership in the church, my career and society. This is seen through my eyes within the contexts of my growth, pain, and successes before I emigrated to the USA.”

Scheepers will continue to dedicate any proceeds from his book to several charities to honor the legacy of his two deceased children, Robin and Sandi. The beneficiaries will be the ministries of spiritual dancing, and junior choir at St. Timothy’s Anglican church in Factreton, Cape Town, and a scholarship fund for psychiatric students in need of financial assistance in Cape Town.

“This book is meant for the eyes of the beautiful people of the Cape Flats and surrounding areas of Cape Town,” said Scheepers. “My late children have been my inspiration, and this book is to become a legacy of their purpose.”

Women of Global Change Uganda Chapter Launches Campaign to Support Children’s Education

Rebecca Nakiwanuka, President of the Women of Global Change Uganda Chapter, emphasized the campaign’s potential to transform lives. “In our neighboring villages, there are countless bright young minds, eager to learn and positively impact their communities. By providing them with essential resources, we not only open doors to education but also instill hope and self-belief that can shape their futures,” she remarked.

Each school uniform, an essential aspect of a child’s education, costs approximately $50. The campaign aspires to secure supporters who resonate with this cause, individuals and organizations alike, to ensure that children have access to these necessities. The Uganda Chapter has even created a program to make it so the women of the village will learn how to craft the uniforms to make them more financially accessible for families.

With a distinguished track record of creating positive societal change, the Women of Global Change, a registered USA non-profit has garnered five Presidential Service Awards for their remarkable work on both national and international levels. Dr. Dame Shellie Hunt, Founder of Women of Global Change, voiced her endorsement of the Uganda Chapter’s mission, affirming, “Education is the cornerstone of empowerment. The Uganda Chapter’s heart-centered efforts perfectly align with our organization’s values. By investing in these children’s education, we are building a foundation for stronger, more resilient communities.”

The Uganda Chapter envisions garnering support from influential figures, like Ugandan artist and humanitarian Eddy Kenzo, who is known for his dedication to enhancing educational accessibility and opportunities for the Ugandan youth. The chapter hopes to unite with Eddy Kenzo and others who share the vision of creating a brighter future through education.

The “Empowering Dreams, Brightening Futures” campaign aspires to heighten awareness and secure contributions from individuals, organizations, and corporate partners, all united to advance children’s education. These donations will directly facilitate children’s access to education, creating a profound and lasting impact on their lives.
