Caring Transitions Expands Access to Compassionate Care Services in Worcester

Caring Transitions is a franchise designed to minimize stress by utilizing specially trained professionals to oversee every detail of a senior’s transition with compassion, including decluttering, organizing, packing, move management, unpacking, resettling, and cleanouts. The company also manages both in-home and online estate sales. The online estate sales are hosted on CTBIDS, the brand’s widely popular auction platform, which can support its clients in liquidating unique and everyday treasures that many cherish.

With a diversified career spanning over a decade in senior case management and real estate, Burgos brings a blend of compassion, expertise, and a community-centric vision. He worked helping seniors with daily living requirements and providing support with housing, medical needs, and everyday necessities. Many seniors didn’t have family local to assist them, so Burgos was their only help.

“For various reasons, many seniors find themselves figuring out their next move on their own,” Burgos insisted. “My goal is to fill this gap, making life a bit easier from the start with cleanouts to finding and settling into their new places. The blend of my real estate experience and what Caring Transitions stands for really opens a chance to do something special for our community.”

Caring Transitions of Worcester Commonwealth serves Worcester and surrounding areas, including Leicester, Spencer, Paxton, and Holden. Caring Transitions currently has more than 280 franchise locations serving families across the country.

“Cesar will make a huge impact on the community by providing top-tier transition services from decluttering a room to helping family members move their loved ones into a senior community,” said Ray Fabik, President of Caring Transitions. “His experience helping the senior population and his real estate background makes him the perfect fit for our Worcester location.”

Intelligent.Com Survey Finds Americans’ Faith in College is Declining, Yet 9 in 10 Parents Still Want Their Child to Go

“Despite the high price of college for most people, a degree does pay off – and an advanced degree can double your lifetime earnings,” says Professor and Higher Education Advisor Diane Gayeski. “It is not just what is learned in class that prepares you for a specific job. The college experience includes exposure to new kinds of people and places.”

The survey results indicate that nearly all respondents feel the cost of college is expensive with 57 percent saying it’s ‘way too expensive’ and 36 percent saying it’s ‘too expensive.’ Overall, the top reasons cited by those who believe college isn’t worth it include the cost (75%), the belief it does not improve job prospects (51%), the belief what’s taught is not valuable (31%), and belief it’s too liberal or political (26%).

Among parents with children under 18, 91 percent are inclined to want their child to attend college, with 54 percent saying they “definitely” and 37 percent saying they “probably” want their child to go to college. Notably, among those who say they don’t feel college is worth it, 69 percent want their child to go to college.

Intelligent.com commissioned this online poll, which was conducted via SurveyMonkey on September 14, 2023. The survey included 1,202 American respondents who were recruited through SurveyMonkey Audience. Respondents were selected to represent the U.S. population by age, gender, and region.

This Black-Owned, Female-Led, Advertising Agency is Going Global and Redefining the Industry

Acquiring Toronto-based Gabriel PR was driven by a need to scale their business to compete more readily with other agencies and effectively service larger, more established clients and brands. “As a black-owned, female-led business, it’s challenging to scale on your own. Coming together has enabled us to provide our clients with a full range of expert services under one roof,” says Sandra Gabriel, Partner and President, PR & Communications.

“We believed that mergers and acquisitions were reserved for large corporations,” comments Ceruti, “but we were inspired by Master P’s keynote speech at the Black Enterprise Entrepreneurs Summit in Philadelphia, where we met Gabriel PR and started this journey.”

This acquisition was critical for 360aac as the first half of 2022 saw record growth within the marketing industry. “We saw 789 marketing industry deals, compared to the record-setting 571 deals in the first half of 2021. In order to stay relevant and viable, we needed to be larger and more specialized in key growth areas such as digital marketing, AI technology, metaverse marketing, public relations and crisis communications,” explains Vania Abdul-Badee, Co-Founder and CMO, “when considering our combined service offerings, we found very little duplication which allowed us to elevate to a true full-service advertising and communications agency.”

“Whether we’re working on advertising campaigns, branding, or design projects, our main goal is to develop the best strategy to help our clients succeed,” said Tamara Jones, President, 360 Bahamas. “Coming together and expanding across North America and The Bahamas allows us to take on clients in multiple markets and execute on an international scale.”

The 360 journey nearly saw its end during the COVID-19 pandemic in March of 2020 when one client after the other called in to terminate their contracts. It wasn’t until all contracts ended that they made the decision to apply for certifications that opened the doors to corporate and government contracts, making 2020 one of their most profitable years. Today, they have 7 active certifications.

Although the agency officially relaunched in August 2023, they have made headway in the market since coming together in July 2022 by speaking at the FutureProof conference in California and the NMSDC annual conference in New Orleans. “It has been incredibly busy, but gaining exposure through strategic partnerships and conferences has positioned us for success, and we are looking forward to the opportunities that lay ahead,” comments Ceruti.

360aac will be attending the NMSDC annual conference in Baltimore, MD from October 22-25, 2023.

Servicon is Officially Certified as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council

Servicon’s certification was conducted and approved by the WBE Council-West, WBENC’s regional certifying partner. Attaining the certification is a meticulous process, including an in-depth review of the business’ history, current operations, a comprehensive legal and financial document review, and a site inspection. The certification process confirms that the business is at least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by a woman or women and that the business has appropriate structure and strategic business planning and implementation in place. Servicon is 60% woman-owned owned and its chief executive is female.

“It is a tremendous honor to receive WBENC certification,” says Servicon President, CEO, and member of Servicon’s ownership, Laurie Sewell. “We are proud to be recognized as a woman-owned and operated company, especially given Servicon’s long history of strong women leadership, starting with our company’s co-founder, Gloria Mahdesian. Servicon’s past president and CEO, Terry Sweeney, was my mentor.

“WBENC certification exemplifies the strength of women in leadership roles and the great value they bring both to the business world and the historically male-dominated commercial cleaning industry. I also think it serves as an example for other women entrepreneurs of the business success they can attain.”

Sewell plans to participate in the WBENC mentor program to help other women owners and operators who are starting out to grow and improve their operations.

Stakeholder Benefits

Servicon’s head of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives, Maritza Aguilar, also sees great value in the WBENC certification. “I am proud to be part of a woman-owned and operated business,” she says. “Laurie has always used her leadership to elevate women. It’s important for the women in our organization and our communities to see this ability to grow and be successful as a woman entrepreneur. Our certified status also aligns with our customers’ supplier diversity programs and helps them meet their supplier diversity goals. Many companies want to do business with underrepresented minorities, especially women-owned and operated companies as reputable as Servicon.”

By including women-owned businesses among their suppliers, corporations and government agencies demonstrate their commitment to fostering diversity and the continued development of their supplier diversity programs, which, in turn, empowers women as leaders and brings about a more diverse and sustainable economy.

About WBENC
WBENC is the leading U.S. women’s business development and third-party certifier of women-owned and operated businesses. Play Yellow Celebrates its 5th Anniversary with a Commitment to Children’s Hospitals

The 5th-anniversary celebration of Play Yellow took place earlier this week at the annual Play Yellow Invitational in West Palm Beach, FL, from October 15 to 17, 2023. The event was a testament to the enduring legacy of Jack and Barbara Nicklaus’s commitment to children’s hospitals, with the aim of helping the 12 million children treated at local member hospitals each year.

At the 2023 event, celebrating the spirit of giving back and championing the cause of children’s hospitals, professional golfer Brandon Matthews was honored with the prestigious Play Yellow Ambassador of the Year award.

Matthews has a strong affinity for children’s hospitals and the impact they have on local communities. His annual Play Yellow golf tournament, the NEPA Invitational, supports the Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, a member hospital of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Since 2021, the event has distributed over $350,000 to benefit the hospital and provide care for kids across Northeast Pennsylvania, where Matthews was born and raised.

“I’m truly honored to be an ambassador for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ Play Yellow campaign. I’ve seen firsthand the impact of our fundraising efforts on kids and their communities,” Matthews said. “I am just so thankful to have the opportunity to be involved with Mr. and Mrs. Nicklaus, and playing a small part in a very important endeavor.”

In addition, the 2023 Corporate Partner of the Year award was given to the PGA TOUR Superstore, and the 2023 Best Play Yellow Event was given to the Drew Neville Charity Classic.

The Nicklaus’ have devoted their lives to supporting philanthropy, including children’s hospitals. The Play Yellow program is already leaving an indelible mark on member hospitals in the U.S., including:

  • Shodair Children’s Hospital: In 2021, Shodair Children’s Hospital set out to create a Play Yellow event as their one and only golf fundraiser in Montana. Initially, they didn’t think they could surpass $50,000 in fundraising, but with the support of Play Yellow, their event eclipsed $300,000 in donations last year. This significant support enables Shodair to provide acute and residential psychiatric services for the youth of Montana.
  • Carilion Children’s Hospital: Inspired by their daughter Charlotte’s battle with rare pediatric liver cancer, Kelly Woolwine and his wife Jess organized the Charlotte’s Play Yellow and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Celebrity Invitational. The Play Yellow team provided unique support by enrolling celebrity friends to participate, and the event aims to raise a substantial portion of the $20 million goal for a new pediatric cancer center in Roanoke, VA.
  • Children’s Health Foundation of Oklahoma: The Children’s Health Foundation of Oklahoma set out to create a signature golf event in 2023. Play Yellow and Jack and Barbara’s legacy helped create an elite-level event that generated over $700,000 in its first year for their Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery Center.

“Play Yellow was born out of our love for children and our passion for making a difference,” said Jack and Barbara Nicklaus. “We’re deeply grateful for the support this program has received, and we look forward to making a continued positive impact in children’s healthcare for many years to come.”

Play Yellow allows the golf community to give back to the areas in which they play and support. Funds raised benefit local member hospitals and are used where they are needed most, making a significant and encouraging effect on patients and their families.

To further their vision, the Nicklaus’s are calling on the entire golf community to step up and join them in raising funds to support member children’s hospitals across the U.S. and Canada.

Join Play Yellow to change kids’ health to change the future. Visit PlayYellow.org to learn more and make a difference today.
