On-demand Wheelchair-Accessible Vehicle (WAV) Transportation Service Launches in San Diego County

“We’re honored to be selected to provide RideFACTNow service to San Diegans,” said Arun Prem, FACT Executive Director. “It’s a significant endeavor, and we are fully committed to delivering the best service possible to ensure individuals with disabilities have access to the resources they require. Our standards ensure every RideFACTNOW journey is not just a ride, but a reliable, accessible experience for those who depend on it. Four months in, we’re proud to have delivered over 5,000 rides for San Diegans.”

In 2022, FACT was selected by SANDAG to receive a $2.5 million grant enabling the organization to administer this service for one year beginning in June 2023. This fall, the SANDAG grant will be open for bids and FACT intends to reapply to continue the service beyond June 2024.

“FACT is proud to work with SANDAG to implement this program which fills a critical gap in our transportation network,” said FACT Board Chair Susan Hafner. “This service creates new, accessible ways for people to connect to opportunities and experiences,” adds SANDAG and San Diego County Board Chair Nora Vargas. “Investing in accessible transportation will continue to remove economic barriers and improve quality of life for this historically underserved community.”

RideFACTNOW brings riders to their destinations safely and punctually, thanks to FACT’s extensive experience in providing specialized transportation. Common reasons for using this service are for medical appointments, grocery shopping, family gatherings, and other essential visits. This affordable, convenient solution will prove integral to the San Diego community in its commitment to ensuring equitable transportation services for San Diegans.

On September 21, 2023, Circulate San Diego awarded RideFACTNOW the 2023 Momentum Award for enhancing “Public Transit Connectivity”.

Author Hopes to Help Women Identify Red Flags They Might Overlook in Romantic Pursuits

“I want to help women realize that choosing themselves is key in living a fulfilling life;” said Tucker, “so they don’t have to endure the trials and tribulations I experienced.”

Tucker breaks the book up into several key messages, encouraging women to set clear boundaries, set the standard for their life, and to shift their perspective. She urges her readers to treat themselves the way they want to be treated, and to love themselves enough to walk away from people, places, and things that are no longer serving their best interest.

“Be intentional about the desires of your heart and the vision you have for your life,” urges Tucker. “Use discernment in your interactions with others, evaluating whether each friendship or relationship is adding value to your life or taking away from it.”

Leading Alienated Child Trauma Expert Unveils the Truth Behind Silent Epidemic of Child Abuse

Lisa Goodpaster shares her own personal story and urges parents and professionals to take action

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 23, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — The child of a divorced home, Lisa Goodpaster found herself feeling like a sacrificial lamb in her childhood; unprotected, sad, and lonely, as a result of her parent’s inability to co-parent and leaving her to be mistreated by her stepmom. In her new book, “Alienated: When Parents Won’t Parent,” she breaks down the system of abuse that she suffered, bringing awareness to the long-term damage that can happen to children of parental alienation.

“Every four seconds, a child loses a parent to false accusations and parental alienation. Every six days, a child dies in the United States due to high conflict divorce and custody cases. Currently, there are 35 countries that are fighting this silent epidemic,” Goodpaster said. “This book dives deep into the mind of an evil stepmother. The evidence she used to erase my parents is used in the book to educate and bring awareness to things that parents should never do.”

In “Alienated,” Goodpaster details the survival patterns that she developed to cope with her hostile environment and explains how parental alienation affected her personal growth and how she overcame it. By sharing her story, she wants to help others understand just what parental alienation is and to sound the alarm to both parents and professionals to help stop this plague of child abuse.

“My mind was held hostage, I felt broken on the inside, and I was left with over 20 different physical symptoms from the toll it took on my mind and body,” Goodpaster said. “Once I found my alienator’s journal, her script of lies, I was finally able to prove my abuse to others. Understanding that millions of kids survive this in silence, that they have to grow up in this wasteland of chaos and uncertainty like I had, set me on course to where I am today.”

By teaching readers the consequences of divorce and poor parenting and the dangers of parental alienation, Goodpaster hopes to clear the way for other survivors to come forward about their abuse and for the adults in these children’s lives to step up and help them.

Hispanic Wealth Project Reports Hispanic Wealth Tripled Since 2013

  •     Hispanics: 3.5x
  •     Non-Hispanic whites: 1.6x
  •     Blacks: 2.7x
  •     Other/multiple races: 2.5x
  •     General population: 1.9x

In 2013, the SCF reported that Hispanic median household wealth was $17,500, when adjusted for inflation. The following year, NAHREP announced a goal to triple Hispanic wealth and launched the Hispanic Wealth Project™ (HWP), an initiative born in the wake of the Great Recession, when Latinos lost a substantial portion of their household wealth. To guide that goal, the HWP produced a blueprint outlining three primary areas of focus, along with a series of targeted component goals for building wealth: increasing homeownership, scaling small businesses, and diversifying financial assets.

“Despite incredibly challenging environments which included the Great Recession and COVID-19, Hispanic wealth has exploded at a pace never seen before. There is still a substantial wealth gap, but the gap is closing and the primary key indicators are positive and are expected to continue,” said Sara Rodriguez, Chairperson of the Hispanic Wealth Project.

NAHREP and HWP released a report in September at the NAHREP at L’ATTITUDE event in Miami that detailed the primary drivers of Hispanic Wealth. The findings of the SCF report will be discussed in detail at the 2023 Hispanic Wealth Symposium in Washington D.C. on November 9, 2023.
