As a special guest of CAMP, viewing spots for media are in a stellar location (excuse the pun), with reserved parking for your crew. Many activities will occur throughout the day (after all, that is what we do!) including eclipse-related and camp activities for all ages. Gates open to the public at 7:00 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m. (to allow traffic to subside). Breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be sold throughout the day.

Total Eclipse at CAMP event tickets (for the general public) are $100 for adults and $50 for children (12 and younger) and include entrance onto CAMP’s property; ISO glasses to safely view the eclipse; spots with clear view of the skies; knowledgeable astrology speakers; and educational and camp activities for families. Parking is additional for the public. While folding chairs are available for media, you are encouraged to bring your own comfortable lawn chairs.

About CAMP:
Since 1979, Children’s Association for Maximum Potential (known locally as Camp CAMP) has provided safe and fun-filled recreational experiences year-round for individuals (ages 5 – 55) with mild to severe disabilities, with diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, Traumatic Brain Injury, Spina Bifida, visual impairment, and hearing impairment.

Campers are racially diverse with 26% Hispanic, 5% African American, 3% Asian, 1% Native American, 47% Caucasian, and 18% identified as Multi-Race/Other.

On average, CAMP serves over 1,400 individuals with disabilities annually in our summer and school-year programs. As a result of these campers garner independence, self-confidence and encouragement through medically safe recreational activities (like swimming, horseback, canoeing, archery, music recreation, arts & crafts, karaoke and a CAMP dance) and social interactions, while parents and siblings receive well-deserved respite from around-the-clock care of their family member. CAMP successfully adapts activities that allow participants to experience a sense of mobility, independence and fun. Due to the severity of their disabilities, many served by CAMP are not eligible to participate in other camps or programs offered within that community.

CAMP also provides leadership development for high-school students/young adults, and hands-on educational experiences and CEUs for healthcare professionals. In 2022, 1,429 teen and young adults volunteers dedicated 87,700 hours of service; 152 Healthcare professional volunteers dedicated 15,616 hours of service.

CAMP is located at 515 Skyline Drive, Center Point, Texas 78010.

Please let me know if you are interested so we can save you a spot.

Intelligent.com Survey Finds 3 in 4 Students of Color Are Likely To Discuss Race in College Admissions Essays

Among students of color who say they are likely to write about their race, 90 percent say they plan to because race and/or ethnicity is ‘an important part of [their] identity,’ and 53 percent say they plan to because ‘it will give [them] an advantage’ in the admissions process. While Hispanic/Latino and Black students are more likely to cite the former as the reason they will write about their race, Asian students are more likely to cite the latter.

“I would encourage applicants to remain authentic to their personal identities. If they want to discuss their race as a defining factor in their life, they should confidently do so,” says Beata Williams, admissions consultant at Intelligent.com. “One option for students to explore is the challenges that they have faced due to their racial background with a greater focus on the discussion of how they continue to persevere and overcome these challenges. An alternative approach is to share their uniqueness stemming from their racial identity.”

Survey data also shows that before completing the survey, 44 percent of respondents were not aware of the Supreme Court ruling that ended affirmative action. Fifty percent of Black students were unaware, compared to 48 percent of Hispanic/Latino students and 20 percent of Asian students. Among students who were aware of the ruling, 12 percent say they ‘strongly agree’ and 64 percent say they ‘somewhat agree’ with the ruling.

This survey was commissioned by Intelligent.com and conducted online by the survey platform Pollfish. It was launched on September 23, 2023, and 103 respondents completed the full survey. To qualify for the survey, all participants had to be current high school seniors planning to attend college for the 2024-25 school year.

In 2022, the state achieved a staggering Gross State Product (GSP) of $1.5 trillion, a figure so substantial that it would rank as the eleventh largest economy in the world if it were an independent nation. Recognizing the evident impact of these female leaders, this year’s honorees feature women who have played pivotal roles in guiding major industry giants like Google, American Express, Goldman Sachs, and Pfizer. Pastor Dino Rizzo Highlights Recent ARC Churches Gather Conference

Pastor Dino Rizzo, the president and executive director of ARC (Association of Related Churches), is proud to highlight the recent successful ARC Gather Conference.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Oct. 30, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Pastor Dino Rizzo, a 35-year ministry veteran, is happy to highlight the recent ARC Gather Conference. The third iteration of the conference boasted nearly 6,000 people in attendance, with 876 total churches participating — 780 in the United States and 96 in Canada.

The event, which was held across 18 locations in the U.S. on October 17 and four in Canada in September, was the largest Gather Conference attendance to date.

As the president and executive director of ARC (Association of Related Churches), Pastor Dino Rizzo gave a video message that was played at each location on the day of the event. In his message, he said:

“I pray that God would strengthen you, that He would strengthen us, and that God would strengthen what’s next.”

Pastor Dino Rizzo was trying to capture the heart of what Gather is — a hope that pastors and their staff benefit from the relationships they built by attending the event.

The idea of the ARC Gather event is to have localized gatherings held across the nation. It’s a way to strengthen relationships, which plays perfectly into ARC’s mission to “Don’t Do Ministry Alone.”

The conference included a lot of team-building activities as well as smaller breakout sessions that allowed attendees to interact on a more personal basis with topics that relate to leadership and ministry.

In essence, this is what ARC Churches does best: It cultivates lifelong friendships. There’s no competition felt among the people who attend, just a mission to help each other achieve all that God has for them.

The passion and personality displayed by Pastor Dino Rizzo and the other leaders are what leads to them being able to resource partners who have the tools needed to be successful in reaching people with the message of Jesus. He and other ARC leaders truly believe that when pastors come together, ministry becomes less lonely.

In the U.S., ARC Gather events were held at Anderson, South Carolina; Antioch and Palm Desert, California; Atlanta, Georgia; Austin, Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Boston, Massachusetts; Columbus, Ohio; Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville, Florida; Fredericksburg, Virginia; Minneapolis, Minnesota; New York City, New York; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Seattle, Washington; and Wilmington, North Carolina.

Led by Dino Rizzo, ARC church leaders work hard to help new leaders reach as many people as they can, creating life-giving churches in as many communities as possible throughout the world.

ARC (Association of Related Churches) is a cooperative of independent churches from different backgrounds, networks, and denominations, all of which strategically resource church planters and pastors to help them reach people with the message of Jesus.

For more information on the ARC Gather event, please visit gather.archchurches.com.

About Dino Rizzo
