University of Miami Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Announces Open Registration for the 1st Annual Winter Institutes at the Miami Grand Beach Hotel

Psychopharmacology: A Master Class (Week 1: February 19-23, 2024)

This seminar offers a holistic perspective on modern neurobiology, encompassing genomics, epigenetics, neurotransmitter systems, and brain circuitry. It underscores the profound impact of early-life trauma on vulnerability to mood and anxiety disorders and explores the pathophysiology of these disorders, with a focus on inflammation and suicide risk. Treatment strategies for depression, anxiety, and women’s psychiatric disorders are discussed, emphasizing the use of antipsychotic medications as augmenting agents. Novel approaches like brexanolone and bupropion-dextromethorphan combinations are examined for treatment-resistant depression. The benefits and risks of treatments like ketamine, esketamine, ECT, and TMS are explored.

Additionally, the seminar addresses depression comorbidity with medical illnesses, particularly in cancer and cardiovascular contexts. It delves into the neurobiological mechanisms and treatments for anxiety and anxiety-spectrum disorders, especially post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and highlights advances in personalized and precision medicine, including the controversial use of pharmacogenomic tests. Finally, the growing field of psychedelic medicine in psychiatry is comprehensively reviewed, with a strong emphasis on the importance of the therapeutic alliance when prescribing psychotropic medications.

Mindfulness and Compassion in Clinical Practice: Enhancing Treatment Effectiveness and Personal Wellbeing (Week 1: February 19-23, 2024)

Mindfulness meditation is a widely researched and effective treatment method in mental and behavioral health. It has been shown to manage emotional distress, including anxiety, depression, hypertension, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic pain, and substance abuse, while also improving overall physical and psychological well-being. Research indicates mindfulness meditation can positively affect brain structure and function, reduce stress hormones, and boost the immune system. Over the past two decades, mindfulness has evolved into empirically supported behavior therapy and is at the forefront of mental health treatment. Compassion and, more recently, self-compassion are emerging areas in mindfulness research and training.

While scientific research on meditation dates to the 1970s, the recent surge of mindfulness research has left many healthcare professionals wondering about its precise meaning, how to practice and teach it, and the supporting evidence. This course aims to supply an updated overview of mindfulness in healthcare, including its application to psychotherapy to enhance behavioral treatment, clinician well-being, and positive attitudes in patient care.

Cognition and the Aging Brain (Week 2: February 26-March 1, 2024)

Promoting brain health is crucial for successful aging, enabling individuals to maximize their potential across cognitive, socio-emotional, and behavioral domains. Cognitive disorders, particularly Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD), are on the rise as people live longer. Preventing these disorders is as vital as reducing conditions like hypertension and diabetes to prevent cardiovascular disease. This course educates healthcare practitioners, equipping them with the knowledge and advanced scientific methods necessary to diagnose ADRD in its earliest stages. It empowers them to differentiate between various cognitive syndromes and understand their underlying causes. Participants will also become familiar with innovative techniques, such as neuropsychological assessments, novel neuroimaging, and plasma-based biomarkers, to detect early signs of Alzheimer’s Disease. The presentation covers emerging pharmacological treatments and underscores the significance of cultural diversity and family involvement in managing ADRD.

Essential Psychopharmacology, 2024, Practice and Update (Week 2: February 26-March 1, 2023)

Explore the complex interactions between neurobiology and clinical pharmacology with this comprehensive seminar. Beginning with a fundamental understanding of neurotransmission in the central nervous system, we expand our exploration to encompass the principles that – still today – bridge the art and science of clinical pharmacology. This course illuminates the challenges of bipolar depression, magnifies the enduring efficacy of mood stabilizers such as lithium salts, and delves deep into the complex landscape of schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, and their evolving treatments. We emphasize early intervention and prevention in psychosis, addressing coexisting challenges of substance abuse, and provide a detailed examination of child and adolescent psychopharmacology. By interweaving innovative research with practical clinical insights, this seminar aims to bolster your therapeutic decision-making, optimizing patient outcomes in varied psychiatric disturbances.

This event will occur at the Miami Grand Beach Hotel in Miami from February 19 to March 1, 2024. Spaulding Rehabilitation Announces Open Registration for Their Milestone Event, Regen Rehab ’24, The 10th Annual International Symposium on Regenerative Rehabilitation

Featured Keynote Speakers:

Ana Rodríguez Castillo is an artist, art historian, and art educator. In humanities and all scientific disciplines there is an awareness of the challenges around defining authorship, ownership of ideas, and recognizing the evolution and progress of innovation and discovery. In the popular, and Romantic notion, of genius – be it from a philosopher, author, artist, or scientist – the most important and amazing creations and discoveries materialize in solitude or isolation. But this model rarely, if ever, occurs in reality. All scientific discovery, artistic creation, and paradigm shifts in philosophy, art, and culture, are dependent on the interpretation and variation of what was done previously. What is critical is that the challenge of defining authorship and ownership of ideas is not limited to science. In fact, art and artists have struggled with similar challenges, which is what I will focus on in this presentation. Can an artist that works alone avoid having work read as an emulation, a copy, a version or an appropriation of another work? How original can an idea be? What determines ownership or authorship of an artwork? There is not a straightforward answer for these questions, but we should be carefully considering and reconsidering some of the rigid old-fashioned ideas and open a dialogue that acknowledges the complexities of creative work.

Alan Grodzinsky, ScD is the Director of MIT’s Center for Biomedical Engineering and is Professor of Biological, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering in the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Departments of Biological Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering. Traumatic joint injuries can initiate degeneration of cartilage and other joint tissues in the presence of elevated inflammation, leading to post-traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA). Such injuries are increasingly common, especially among young women who suffer ACL and meniscus tears during sports activities. The effects of mechanical loading on cartilage degradation and the potential for tissue regeneration after injury are not well-understood, but very important to clinical rehabilitation. There are currently no disease modifying drugs for osteoarthritis, and a major challenge is the ability to achieve sustained levels of therapeutics inside a target tissue with no off-target side effects. We use in vitro organ culture models to study the beneficial effects of mechanical loading and therapeutics to inhibit tissue degradation and cell death. Parallel in vitro and animal studies are aimed at targeted tissue drug delivery. Our most recent studies involve human knee cartilage-bone-synovium cocultures on Earth and launched to the International Space Station on SpaceX-17/21, the latter to study effects of microgravity and radiation on initiation and progression of OA-like disease, and the benefits of potential therapeutics.

Accompanying the presentations from this year’s keynote speakers, Regen Rehab ’24 will feature various other interactive presentations focused on restoring and revitalizing neuromuscular health at the intersection of regenerative medicine and rehabilitation, stem cell therapies and rehabilitation, and rebuilding cartilage with tissue engineering.

Additionally, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital’s 10th Annual International Symposium will host a pitch competition for a chance to win $10,000 that will support novel regenerative rehabilitation research directions, a clinical special interest group, and student and trainee engagement opportunities. Furthermore, to promote diversity and inclusion within the regenerative rehabilitation community, Regen Rehab ’24 is awarding over $20,000 in travel and diversity grants to support graduate students, medical fellows, medical residents, predoctoral fellows, and junior investigators from all walks of life. The deadline to apply for travel and diversity grants awarded through Regen Rehab ’24 is January 15, 2024.

Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital’s Regen Rehab ’24 is a Harvard Medical School accredited continuing medical education course. In support of improving patient care, Harvard Medical School is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. The Harvard Medical School designates this live activity for a maximum of 11.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. The course is designed to meet the following American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) / Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Educational (ACGME) competencies: Medical Knowledge. This course is designed to meet the following Institute of Medicine Core Competencies: Employee Evidence-Based Practice.

Registration is now open, and early bird discounts are available until January 15, 2024. Do not miss the opportunity to be a part of this milestone event. MOORESVILLE, N.C., Dec. 15, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Kayo Rapid Release Gummies: Tailored Experiences, Instant Gratification

Enjoy The Hemp Doctor’s Kayo Rapid Release Nano THC Gummies, a ground-breaking product that perfectly balances taste and wellness in each delicious mouthful! With two distinct formulas available, customers may select their desired experience based on the situation:

  • Relax blend (15mg D9, 7.5mg CBN, 7.5mg CBD) can help users tune out reality and sink into a euphoric bliss before easing them into a restful slumber.
  • Energy blend (15mg D9, 7.5mg THCV, 7.5mg CBG) – Perfect for anyone looking to unwind and ease the stresses of life. This blend can elevate the mood and make those monotonous daily tasks more enjoyable. Energy Blend is here to help tackle the day with energy and enthusiasm.

Rapid Release gummies’ secret lies in Nanotechnology. This technology ensures faster absorption since THC particles have been reduced in size and also prolonged effects because the particles in the body break down more slowly. All of these are without sharp peaks and dips, meaning the gummies can deliver a consistent and long-lasting impact rather than having abrupt ups and downs frequently connected to other edibles.

Kayo Rapid Release Gummies wholesale are also available.

Downshift Gummies: Swift Relaxation with Nano Technology

Another exciting addition to The Hemp Doctor’s product line-up is the improved Downshift Gummies. These gummies have a concentration of 12 mg and are composed of a balanced combination of 7.5 mg D9 THC, 1.5 mg CBC, 1.5 mg CBG, and 1.5 mg CBN. They provide a mildly euphoric and calming effect.

In just thirty minutes, users may experience the desired level of relaxation thanks to nano-emulsification, which guarantees quick absorption and raises the bar for edible efficiency. With Kayo Rapid Release and Downshift Gummies the Hemp Doctor invites consumers to experience a new era of THC gummy excellence.

FAQ

Downshift Gummies

Q: How long will it take me to feel the effects?

A: This product contains nano-emulsified cannabinoids, which means that you may feel the effects as fast as within 20-30 minutes. However, one will feel the full effects within 1-2 hours after consuming. Although this varies depending on the product and the person.

Q: What is this product best for?

A: D9 Downshift gummies are the perfect companion for relaxation at the end of the day! The small dose of D9 delivers a pleasant euphoric effect, while blended cannabinoids CBC, CBG, and CBN offer potential benefits for pain relief and sleep. With the help of this mix, you can enjoy a blissful night with a calming touch.

Q: Will Delta 9 THC show up on a drug test?

A: Yes! Drug tests can detect all THC metabolites, and consuming both Delta 8 and Delta 9 can produce a positive screening. So, if you have a drug test coming up, it’s best to consume the product after the testing.

Q: Are Delta 9 THC Edibles Strong?

A: While D9 products can be potent, the Hemp Doctor edibles feature a lower milligram content and a blend of diverse cannabinoids, making them one of the more mild options.

Q: What does ‘nano-emulsified’ mean?

A: To put it in simple words, Nano-emulsified refers to the water solubility of these products, enhancing their bioavailability when ingested since they are not lipid (fat) based. Nano-emulsion accelerates the effects, allowing you to experience the impact in approximately 20-30 minutes, as opposed to the longer duration associated with traditional gummies.

Q: Are Delta 9 THC Edibles Safe?

A: You want to ensure that the brand you’re purchasing a product from conducts third-party testing. Unlike some companies prioritizing speed and legality over quality and safety, The Hemp Doctor’s core values include an unwavering commitment to quality and safety.

Rapid Release Gummies

Q: How long will it take me to feel the effects?

A: The effects of the nano-emulsified cannabinoids may become apparent in as little as 20 to 30 minutes. The full effect, however, might not become apparent for one to two hours, as this time frame varies based on the particular substance and individuals.

Q: What is this product best for?

A: The Hemp Doctor’s assortment of blends guarantees that you will find the ideal product to meet your needs, whether you’re looking for a relaxing end to the day with Relax gummies or an energizing boost during the day with the Energy blend.

Q: Will Delta 9 THC show up on a drug test?

A: Yes! Drug tests detect all metabolites of THC but are unable to differentiate between Delta 8 and Delta 9. Thus, using either may result in a positive screening for Delta 9.

Q: Are Delta 9 THC Edibles Strong?

A: With a total dosage of 30 mg, these Rapid Release gummies include a strong combination of D9 THC and other cannabinoids offering high potency.

Q: What does ‘nano-emulsified’ mean?

A: Because they don’t have a lipid (fat) basis, items labeled as nano-emulsified are water soluble, which increases their bioavailability when consumed. Inovaare Corporation Achieves HITRUST Risk-based 2-year (r2) Recertification to Further Mitigate Privacy, Security and Compliance Risk

HITRUST Risk-based 2-year (r2) certification validates Inovaare’s commitment to meet the certification requirements and controls for protecting sensitive information.

MILPITAS, Calif., Dec. 15, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Inovaare Corporation, a compliance and operations management software provider, today announced its platform, data center and operations earned HITRUST Risk-based 2-year (r2) recertification for the second consecutive time. Inovaare is leading digital transformation within the healthcare industry with its solutions for automating compliance and payer operations.

HITRUST Risk-based 2-year (r2) demonstrates that Inovaare’s cloud-based platform — which includes its Appeals & Grievances, Delegation Oversight, Universe Management, Risk Management and Regulatory Compliance solutions — has met Healthcare Data Security requirements and is appropriately managing risk. This achievement places Inovaare in an elite group of organizations worldwide that have earned this certification.

The HITRUST Risk-based 2-year (r2) helps organizations address challenges in managing healthcare data through a comprehensive and flexible framework by including controls to comply with regulatory requirements and standards and incorporating a risk-based approach.

“This recertification demonstrates our continued commitment to privacy and security of customer and partner data that meets key industry and regulatory requirements,” said Pravat Rout, Chief Executive Officer at Inovaare. “Our healthcare customers and partners can know that Inovaare adheres to the highest standards for protecting sensitive data and information.”

“By maintaining HITRUST certification for the third year in a row, our healthcare customers are assured we’re protecting sensitive data and information at the highest industry standard,” said Deepak Matham, AVP of IT Security at Inovaare. “With healthcare organizations increasingly relying on cloud-based solutions to drive operational efficiency, we continue to demonstrate our trusted-partner status to meet their complex compliance and privacy requirements.”

HITRUST Certification is globally recognized as validation that information security and privacy controls are adequate and compliant with various regulations. HITRUST Certification is considered the gold standard because of the comprehensiveness and applicability of the control requirements, depth of the assurance process, and level of oversight that ensures accuracy,” said Jeremy Huval, Chief Innovation Officer, HITRUST. “Individually, each element exceeds most other programs, and collectively, they make HITRUST Certification the most comprehensive, transparent, consistent, and highest quality assessment available.”
