Denver, CO Firm AYBOS Marketing Transforms Their Trauma Into The Launch of Advocacy Services & Donates Trauma- Responsive Website to Mental Health

Taylor and Shively presenting The Rebuild Your Mind Initiative for Beth McCann’s Mental Health Advisory Panel

It was at this moment he decided to pledge AYBOS’ undivided attention to fighting trauma with it’s worse threat, social support. Out of these unfortunate circumstances the Rebuild Your Mind Challenge was born.

C. A. Shively officially formed The Association of Young Business Owners (AYBOS) in 2008 as AYBOS Marketing LLC. At the time he was still in the music business as a majority label stakeholder in Hustle N Flow (HNF) Music Group. Shively saw an opportunity for AYBOS to create marketing campaigns for HNF, and HNF to create any music compositions needed for AYBOS. No one from AYBOS would have ever thought they would be advocating for mental health through The Rebuild Your Mind Challenge (RYM) 12 years later.

Shively’s business partner Marchell Taylor was still incarcerated on the now public 20 plus year sentence covered in earlier articles. Shively reflects on Taylor’s passion for business and teaching. He says Taylor would routinely write him 10, 20 and even 30 plus page letters outlining the business and marketing principles he was studying. Since Taylor was incarcerated, sometimes the information would be outdated. Shively would take the information he would provide, and proof it through the internet, making for sound data. This blend of facts, theory and education became the foundation of both companies. He says without a formal education, he wore the hats of lawyer, accountant, plan writer, and yes, even artist at times.

Shively’s advocacy began with writing letters to the prison, parole, halfway houses and any angle possible to free Taylor. The two will now tell you they are brothers, and this bond grew out of Taylor grooming Shively for business and Shively advocating for Taylor’s release for 4 years.

Fast forward to 2012 when Taylor was finally released. After 4 years, both AYBOS and HNF had business plans, logos, email addresses and social medias as Shively saw these were now the standard in business.

In 2014 the 5 members of HNF, including Shively, decided to go separate ways due to the underhanded tactics of the music business. One member, a mental health advocate himself, Sheria Hicks aka Drettie Goines, filmed his Rebuild Your Mind Challenge in support of AYBOS, see the video here: https://youtu.be/BV-laGK1Nc0

AYBOS, still functioning, began venturing into socially responsible causes. At the time breast cancer specifically was the cause, as Shively’s mother had just been diagnosed and Taylor’s mother had succumbed to the disease years prior. This was actually the beginning of AYBOS venturing into advocacy. As the campaign began to gain steam and garnered collaborative support from the American Cancer Society, Colorado Breast Cancer Coalition, Elitch Gardens, Marriott Hotels and many more. Again, everything seemed to be looking up, however this would be the second time Shively would have to advocate for Taylor’s release.

Taylor called Shively from the county jail telling him that he was on his way back to prison for a parole violation. He would continue to tell Shively “Something is wrong with me”, to which Shively would jokingly reply, “Your good! Do some push ups!” Shively went on again writing letters and making phone calls advocating for Taylor’s release. He would return to society in just 1 year, and they both thought he was all better, they got back to work immediately.

Shively would recall Taylor constantly acting and thinking like his children, Corey (8) and Christiana (5) at the time when he returned from prison. The most “common” of sense seemed to be the most trivial to Taylor. They were constantly arguing and Shively would ask, “What is wrong with you?”, and Taylor would reply, “I just don’t know”.

Everything was looking up for AYBOS, the two were back in action. They were finalizing the details for the breast cancer campaign, finalizing their financial book and nurturing their newly formed Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce membership, then Shively got the call again. Somehow, Taylor was now facing 300 + years as the story has been told several times in the news lately. Without knowing the details of the case, Shively momentarily considered turning his back for good. This was the third time he would have to fight for Taylor’s freedom, and coupled with the business disappointments, he honestly felt it was time to throw in the towel.

After Taylor finally got through on the phone, hearing him out, Shively knew that he couldn’t turn his back on Taylor in this moment of darkness. He decided to put business aside and stick in his corner and help him heal. When Taylor explained to him that he was learning about his damaged prefrontal cortex, adverse childhood experiences and the effects of trauma on his brain, everything began to make sense.

With this being Shively’s third time advocating for Taylor, he realized trauma and mental health were real and silently affecting many of the people around him. This was including his own family, as Shively’s mother began to abuse alcohol and pain medication behind the depression of breast cancer. Rosemary Elizabeth Bob, Shively’s mother, passed away of breast cancer complications on January 23, 2017, it changed him forever.

It was at this moment he decided to pledge AYBOS’ undivided attention to fighting trauma with, it’s worse threat, social support. Out of these unfortunate circumstances the Rebuild Your Mind Challenge was born. Since Taylor’s release, he has continued in therapy and even convinced Shively to start therapy himself to deal with business stress and grief. AYBOS goal is to set off a global mental and social health movement with the RYM Challenge.

This was also the beginning of AYBOS Advocacy Services, in which AYBOS helps with reentry, legal review and business development. Shively admits that all the business disappointments AYBOS has endured have not been very healthy for the organization. This is why AYBOS built the rebuildyourmind.org website and launched AYBOS Advocacy Services. The website is an extension of the RYM challenge and AYBOS’ attempt to be trauma-responsive by providing mental health alternatives to those in need. As AYBOS, Taylor and Shively continue to advocate for those who may be suffering in silence.

Shively and Taylor sat down with Deputy Mike Jackson to discuss the mission of the Rebuild Your Mind Challenge. You can see the video here:

Wrongfully Convicted Clarence Moses-EL launches the Moses of Our Time Initiative with AYBOS & Rebuild Your Mind

Exonerated Moorish American Moslem Clarence Moses-EL

Moses-EL’s attorneys, Johnson & Klein, secured a successful acquittal in 2016 as expected in his innocence. However, the legal remedy accrued from a 28-year wrongful sentence and the near-death experiences that accompanied it call for more than just acquittal.

Clarence Moses-EL allowed AYBOS to capture his former attorney Jennifer Sullivan- Hendricks talking about his judicial trauma of serving over 28 years of wrongful incarceration (Moses-EL was acquitted in 2016). AYBOS Communication Director calls it a “A travesty of justice yet a necessary evil”. The travesty is in the compounded judicial trauma, destruction of evidence, inhumane treatment and disregard for his basic human rights. Most disturbing is that the prosecutorial misconduct, blatant abuse of power and direct violation of his Constitutional Rights originate from the Colorado State Judiciary System.

Moses-EL, born in Baltimore Maryland, decided to move to Colorado to give his wife and family a chance at a better life. In 1987, he was wrongfully convicted of a brutal rape, and it all came to a terrifying halt. From 1987 until 2016, Moses-EL experienced judicial trauma that caused near death events while unjustly incarcerated for the next 28 years. These blatant judicial misconducts and inhumane judicial actions would change him, his wife and children’s lives forever. The story of Moses-EL has been in the news and the narrative has been covered extensively, but there’s another side to the story.

What most people do not fully understand is how Moses-EL mentally freed some of the worst inmates of their own destructive states of mind. He encouraged them to become law abiding, educated citizens, including AYBOS Marketing business developers. Moses-EL changed a significant number of offenders’ lives while incarcerated. His fraternal brotherhood demanded excellence out of its members. He would not only hold members accountable, but also inspired the best out of every offender he encountered. Moses-El says that he told hundreds of CDOC offenders “Come all of you heavy laden in your contemporary problems, and I will give you rest.”

One of these individuals was AYBOS Marketing Communication Director Marchell Taylor-Bey. Taylor-Bey took a special interest in the Moorish Science Temple of America (MST of A) in 2000. He was accepted under the guidance and curriculum that Moses-EL introduced and proclaimed his nationality as a Moorish-American under The MST of A soon after.

AYBOS has crafted the Moses of Our Time Initiative to promote how the Moorish Science Temple of America reformed some of the worst of individuals. Gang members, lifers and individuals who lost hope in themselves could find refuge in the MST of A. Thousands of inmates seeking guidance for a better way of thinking found a platform for change in Moses-EL’s teachings.

Upon chartering, the MST of A became one of the most effective programs in the correctional facilities. The MST of A embodies both an educational tool and platform for individuals incarcerated to connect to. The program helps individuals understand their worth in themselves, the value in their family and community, including the correctional community. The MST of A helps build character with the principles of Love, Truth, Peace, Freedom and Justice that the world of production recognizes as human capital. The goal and mission of the Moorish Science Temple of America is to uplift fallen humanity and Moses-EL did just that on a mass level while incarcerated.

This lawfully chartered organization helps educate individuals in the areas of: Brain health, Mental Health, Nationality, Constitutional Law, History, Social Science, Finance, Entrepreneurship, Self-Awareness and Character Building. In Taylor- Bey’s on words “It allows individuals to see themselves through the greatness of their own history and provides a curriculum that shows the possibilities of man.”

Clarence Moses-EL was added to the National Registry of Exonerations in 2017, yet still experiences travesties of justice and constitutional encroachment based on his belief in his defense. While no amount of money can suffice for the years of incarceration Moses-EL spent, due justice is still imperative in his case. Moses-EL’s attorneys, Johnson & Klein, secured a successful acquittal in 2016 as expected in his innocence. However, the legal remedy accrued from a 28-year wrongful sentence and the near-death experiences that accompanied it call for more than just an acquittal.

A fortunate turn is in Moses-EL’s work in the lawfully chartered Moorish Science Temple of America. MST of A was developed for the uplifting of fallen humanity, and Moses-EL’s efforts are paying off huge with AYBOS Marketing. The MST of A is where AYBOS Marketing’s Taylor-Bey and C. A. Shively were both inspired to study and learn business. These studies led to the formation of the AYBOS Organization and ultimately the Rebuild Your Mind Challenge and Initiative.

Moses-ELs efforts are most prevalent in Colorado prisons as The Moorish Science Temple of America continues to grow, while his efforts with AYBOS are taking shape through The Rebuild Your Mind Challenge. Blessing offers Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatment for depression

“Nationwide, results have been phenomenal,” said Bejoy John, MD, psychiatrist, Blessing Physician Services. “Relapse rates are comparatively less than when using medication alone.”

Patients living with major depression have a new care option available through Blessing Physician Services. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an FDA approved, non-invasive treatment that can provide relief of depressive symptoms when medications and talk therapy, also known as psychotherapy, do not deliver the desired results.

Through an electromagnetic coil placed against the side of the patient’s head while they sit in a comfortable chair, TMS releases magnetic pulses that stimulate nerve cells and blood flow to the region of the brain affected by depression, relieving symptoms. Patients undergo 36 TMS treatments. The first appointment is one hour. The remaining appointments are approximately 30 minutes.

“Nationwide, results have been phenomenal,” said Bejoy John, MD, psychiatrist, Blessing Physician Services. “Relapse rates are comparatively less than when using medication alone.”

Salvador Sanchez, MD, psychiatrist, Blessing Physician Services, says TMS differs from Electroconvulsive Therapy or ECT.

“There is no hospitalization with TMS, as there is with ECT. There is no period of recovery after a TMS treatment, as there is after ECT. And the side effects of TMS are minimal when compared to ECT,” said Dr. Sanchez

TMS side effects may include headache and lightheadedness.

“Patients are more willing to complete TMS therapy because it has fewer side effects and less discomfort than medications and ECT,” added Dr. John.

“This is a treatment, not a cure,” Dr. Sanchez stated. “Medications will still be needed for the majority of patients. TMS gives people living with depression another option to improve their quality of life.”

While TMS is considered safe, people with metal devices in the upper part of their bodies and pregnant women cannot receive the treatment.

There are eight recognized forms of depression, making it the most common form of mental illness. In general, depressions causes a person feelings of sadness and hopeless that can leave them unable to function in their daily life, cause suicidal thoughts and require hospitalization.

History Making Denver District Attorney Beth McCann Inspires History once Again, As True Inspiration Behind Suicidal Inmates Mental Health Initiative.

Dr. Ezzat Moghazy, Beth McCann and Marchell Taylor Sr.

A simple visit to any legal library in a Colorado Department of Corrections Facility and you will discover a letter of support from McCann to other inmates.

As Denver District Attorney Beth McCann is running again for chief law enforcement officer, AYBOS Marketing LLC continues to follow her story. In the 2016 Denver Post, McCann ran for office on the premise that she would “Discontinue using jails as tools to warehouse inmates or individuals with mental health disorders.” She continues to stick to her word in 2020. Inspired by the 2016 Post article, AYBOS Marketing Director Marchell Taylor, facing a life sentence in the same, reached out to Beth McCann and she reached back. He immediately contacted his business partner C. A. Shively from the county jail and said, “AYBOS must support this district attorneys’ efforts.” After reading the article himself, Shively agreed.

McCann is keeping her campaign promise in 2020 by supporting inmates like Taylor while in treatment or seeking help. McCann and Taylor corresponded back and forth through letters while in the Men’s Mental Health Transition Unit in the Denver County Jail. Taylor noticed for the first time in his 21-year criminal history, a district attorney who cared about his own mental health issues. The mental health disorders that went largely unidentified and un-diagnosed until McCann came into office, Taylor says changed his life forever. Taylor attributes McCann for saving his life, while McCann says the she “Simply supported him in his process.”

McCann began to inspire the Rebuild Your Mind Mental Health Challenge from behind the scenes. After noticing that Taylor was serious about de-stigmatizing these issues, she reached out to the then President/CEO of Mental Health Colorado, and now US Senate candidate, Andrew Romanoff and connected him to the mental health challenge. McCann’s inspiration led Romanoff into accepting a meeting with the Rebuild Your Mind Communication Director Roberta Derek. Coincidentally, Derek had already filmed her own challenge video, in which she challenged McCann, Romanoff and 9 News Anchor Kyle Clark. See Mrs. Derek’s challenge video here: https://youtu.be/yWFWUXm71zA

Derek first met with McCann on behalf of Rebuild Your Mind and then with Romanoff to establish the specifics of a full interview with the AYBOS Video Team. AYBOS Video Team, C. A. Shively and CU intern Rosalinda Ortega, then captured the interview with Romanoff, Taylor and Rebuild Your Mind Assistant Director Dr. Ezzat Moghazy. Romanoff not only accepted his challenge, but he talked about his own struggle with losing his first cousin (whom Romanoff says she was a sister to him) to suicide on New Year’s Day.

Romanoff then goes on to challenge Governor Jarod Polis and Cynthia Coffman (in last 3 minutes of video interview), in hopes they would accept their challenge. While the challenge has a three challenge limit, according to the challenge guide lines (see challenge instruction video here featuring Ortega where she inspires “There’s no greater time for this type of movement than now”: https://youtu.be/NMrjX6dvo3U), Romanoff surprises everyone with his third challenge; see video Link here: https://youtu.be/RgLb_wTFlIo

McCann is no stranger to mental health issues in her city. She has fashioned juvenile justice reforms, gang reduction initiatives and mental health advisory panels to address trauma and its imprints. She frequents re-entry centers to discover what’s working and isn’t in her city and surrounding counties. A simple visit to any legal library in a Colorado Department of Corrections Facility and you will discover a letter of support from McCann to other inmates. This District Attorney has mothered this city for a long time, and the AYBOS Rebuild Your Mind Challenge would not exist today without her inspiration and encouragement.

Deputy Mike Jackson was the first to support the then, Beth McCann Rebuild Your Mind Mental Health Challenge. He was the first to take the Challenge on the Rebuild Your Mind Camera’s. Shively interviewed Jackson where he challenged Denver Mayor Michael Hancock and other elected officials. (see video/press release.)

Mr. Taylor, forty other inmates and C. A. Shively began sending the Beth McCann Rebuild Your Mind Mental Health Challenge & Initiative to everyone, except her, to get people to support her mental health efforts in the criminal justice system. Taylor, Shively and Deputy Jackson all admit it was a gutsy move but turned out great results, with McCann herself inspiring Andrew Romanoff to support the Rebuild Your Mind Mental Health Challenge. (see video)

McCann began supporting Taylor through letters, they wrote back and forth for the last two years of his incarceration. Taylor, Shively and several other Rebuild Your Mind stakeholders have either met, presented or just sat down to talk with McCann since Taylor’s release. When he talks with her, he proudly pronounces that she saved his life. To this, her reply is “I didn’t save Marchell, he saved himself, I just supported him in his process!”

In November of 2018, McCann invited newly released inmate Taylor and Rebuild Your Mind Mental Health Challenge developer, C.A. Shively, to present the initiative on her Mental Health Advisory Panel. Still in its infancy, the panel advised Taylor and Shively to finalize the initiative and return with the full plan. To date, the team has produced a Mental Health Bill and grant to include an 80-person facility plan which all encompass the overall goal of the initiative; To make Colorado the most efficient Trauma-Informed, Trauma-Conscious and Trauma-Responsive state in the United States.

Today, McCann is running again for the Denver District Attorney’s Office. What McCann has encouraged as district attorney, inspired Judge Brain Whitney to sentence Taylor to more treatment as opposed to incarceration. She has inspired Inmates to become mental health advocates, as well as active members of society. Taylor, Shively, and McCann meet often to discuss AYBOS Rebuild Your Mind Mental Health Initiative. AYBOS also supports McCann in her second race for Denver District Attorney. In fact, AYBOS Marketing is launching their own “McCann Can” Initiative to help support her new run for chief law enforcement officer of Denver. Cure Quest Novel Debuts as New Adult Podcast

“The Boy from Yesterday”

“People today ought to be grateful that diseases that would have killed their loved ones in the past are curable today with modern medicine.” — K.B. Howard, author

Author K. B. Howard has announced the launch of his debut New Adult genre novel, “The Boy from Yesterday,” as a podcast show. Following the trend of more authors issuing their novels as free podcast downloads, with chapters as episodes, Howard adds his title to the growing genre of New Adult fiction, which focuses on slightly older characters than Young Adult, often college-age or young professionals.

“The Boy from Yesterday” is the story of Tom Flannery, 20, a farm boy in New England in 1890, who time-travels with the help of a mystical heirloom to the present day in search of modern medical help for a sick friend, Sam Beckins. In the present day, Tom meets a young university student and falls in love with her. Later, we learn that Tom’s mission to bring back the medicine and save his friend in the past has more urgency, lest the future be changed forever.

Howard got the story idea, in part, from the controversy over the anti-vaxxer movement. Commenting to a friend one day in exasperation, Howard said, “People today ought to be grateful that diseases that would have killed their loved ones in the past are curable today with modern medicine,” a reference to Howard’s own 30 years of successfully living with HIV, through various anti-retroviral medicines.

“K.B. Howard” is the pen name of Ken Howard, LCSW, a licensed psychotherapist in Los Angeles, with a long history of expertise in HIV mental health and social services. He is also the founder of GayTherapyLA.com, a group practice providing therapy and coaching services to gay male individuals and couples.

Howard is the author of another podcast show, “Gay Therapy LA with Ken Howard, LCSW,” based on his 28 years in psychotherapy practice, and has written two previous books,“Self-Empowerment: Have the Life You Want!” and “Positive Outlook: Collected Essays on Successfully Living with HIV Today,” both available in various formats on Amazon.com. A Facebook page for the novel is here.

Howard is launching “The Boy from Yesterday” podcast novel with its prologue and four chapters, with subsequent episodes/chapters to be released approximately weekly. The direct link to subscribe is: http://theboyfromyesterday.libsyn.com/

Suicidal Inmate Facing Life After Robbing A Denver, Co Papa John’s Pizza, Making History By Launching Mental Health Challenge From County Jail

In January of 2016 now Mental Health Advocate/ Business Developer Markell Taylor had a suicidal breakdown and as a result ended up in the Denver County Jail fighting a 300 + year sentence.

Suicidal inmate makes history by launching mental health challenge & unites Colorado, Denver & the small business community

“Jackson challenged the mayor of Denver, CO, Mayor Michael Hancock, and all elected officials to speak openly about their own mental health experiences live on video!”

All Marchell Taylor could remember prior to his January 2016 break down, was hearing voices in his head saying, “No one valued him anymore, he wasn’t important, all his relationships were damaged, he was a financially broke business founder.” He says he remembers feeling he couldn’t deal with life and needed to escape, and that that prison would be easier than dealing with failure. Taylor had been free from prison for 4 years, however none of his business ideas from prison had flourished. He said he pleaded for help, at least in his own maladaptive way, when he called C. A. Shively. Shively, another co-founder of AYBOS and confidante of Taylor, listened on multiple occasions, however, he was quietly damaged himself by small business stress. Four days later or on January 16th, 2016, he committed another aggravated robbery but this time with a second-degree kidnapping charge for robbing a Papa John’s Pizza.

Taylor called Shively and told him that he was in the county jail again for the third time in two years, to which he responded sarcastically, “I see your home again, what the hell is wrong with you bro, I don’t understand!” Taylor responded, “It’s not me, its these damn demons!” and the 20- second phone call ends. Taylor’s next move was to commit suicide by saving up his psychotropic medication. He attempted it, he took enough Elavil to put himself to sleep for five days straight and thought, “Just a few more pills and no more problems.”

Shively eventually visited the county jail and said, “You are to valuable to our family, please don’t do this.” He pleaded with Taylor and said, “Read the entire bible, front to back and vice versa.” He reassured him that his family loves him and that they’d go through it together. For the first time since he was 17 years old, when his mother died, Taylor says he truly felt loved and valued.

Taylor eventually reached out for help from the mental health staff in the county jail and started getting treatment before even being diagnosed. His public defender David Kraut, from the Public Defender’s Office came to Taylor and said, “The district attorney is filing the habitual criminal statue against you. Meaning you can receive four times the sentence range, or over 300 years.” Taylor understood clearly, looked at his attorney, started crying and said, “I don’t know how this happened?” David could clearly see his client’s emotional pain and how he seemed confused after serving many years in prison.

David began to ask questions such as how much time of incarceration Taylor had served? Taylor expressed, over 21 years. To this David replied, “Oh no you need help, you have mental health disorders.” He advocated and got him into the only mental health program of its kind, The Men’s Mental Health Transition Unit in the Denver County Jail.

While in the program Taylor received a neuropsychological screening from the Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado, then lead by Professor Kim Gorgens from the University of Denver. In addition, he also received a mental health assessment from Dr. Natsumi “Nina” Minagawa of Minagawa Psychology Services, LLC, Denver, Colorado. He was diagnosed with a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), PTSD, Anxiety Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Substance Use Disorder as well as physiological dysfunctions. Essentially, Taylor was a 47-year old individual with the mind and brain functions of a 10-year-old child.

Dr. Brad McMillan, Director of Psychology at Denver County Jail began to provide trauma classes and research tools for Taylor. He assigned Taylor a team of therapists, doctors and psychologist to help destigmatize, assess and treat his disorders. Dr. Nina Minagawa served as his One-on-One Counselor, Jarod Thiele served as his mental health case manager and skill development mentor and Deputy Mike Jackson, a 24-year deputy veteran (and the President of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #27) counseled him as well.

Taylor learned how to meditate, rationalize effectively, reason effectively, plan, play and use good judgement. In addition, he also learned to regulate his emotions and control his impulses, all things he should’ve learned as an adolescent. The team used a variety of trauma modalities, treatments and self-regulation strategies to assess and treat him, mainly “Mindful Meditation” taught by specialist Dr. Nina Minagawa. Deputy Jackson showed great interest in this inmate’s treatment and his passion to help others. He became the first deputy in the history of the Denver Sheriff’s Department to join an inmate with a TBI, and mental health disorders and a small business, all while the inmate was still incarcerated.

Taylor used the program as an educational platform in addition to treatment. He studied a lot about his own brain and psychological disorders, while receiving the treatment. Still in communication with Shively and AYBOS, they organized the research and treatment into a campaign format and named it after the head Denver district attorney, “The Beth McCann Rebuild Your Mind Mental Health Challenge” as McCann was a true inspiration with her passion for mental health alternatives.

Over 40 Inmates started challenging thousands of people through inmate letters. Parole board members, their judges (including Taylor’s judge), district attorneys, public defenders, other criminal justice and corrections staff were being challenged, to discuss their own mental health experiences on camera. Deputy Jackson advised not to place a political name to it and simply launch it as The Rebuild Your Mind Mental Health Challenge & Initiative.

Shively and AYBOS Marketing filmed the inaugural Rebuild Your Mind Video Challenge with Deputy Jackson in 2017. Jackson challenged the Mayor of Denver, CO, Mayor Michael Hancock, and all elected officials to speak openly about their own mental health experiences live on video. (See Challenge Video below). Deputy Jackson also became the first Deputy to openly speak about his own mental health experiences for the Challenge.

Taylor and Shively’s efforts resulted in Judge Brain Whitney sentencing Taylor to Mental Health Probation as opposed to incarceration. Upon release Taylor was so inspired by Deputy Jackson’s challenge video, that he decided to do his own. In the video Taylor challenges Whoopi Goldberg, Chauncey Billups and Ellen DeGeneres, citing them as influencers that can encourage millions to destigmatize these mental health experiences (https://youtu.be/d5vgdXr2ee4). With over 60 challenges filmed to date, the question is why haven’t you went to @rebuildyourmindchallenge on Facebook and taken the challenge yourself?

MeBe Opens San Diego Learning Center for Children with Autism and Special Needs

At MeBe, our mission is to make life more joyful for families facing tough challenges that are often frustrating and isolating.

MeBe, a San Diego–based agency helping children and young adults facing challenges related to speech, language, sensory processing, motor delays, and autism spectrum disorder (ASD), will open a comprehensive learning center in San Diego, California, February 15. Families can access multi-disciplinary care, including one-on-one Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, feeding therapy services, and social skills groups.

“At MeBe, our mission is to make life more joyful for families facing tough challenges that are often frustrating and isolating,” said MeBe Co-founder and Executive Director Abigail Bunt, M.Ed., BCBA. “We are thrilled to open our learning center as a centrally located, convenient one-stop shop designed to help families thrive.”

With its 10,000-square-foot learning center, MeBe has integrated a wide variety of services not usually found under one roof to provide children needing early intervention a fun, distraction-free, and dynamic environment—facilitated by compassionate, rigorously trained therapists.

The services at the center are designed to build on and complement one another, positioning children for a seamless transition from the learning center environment to the home learning setting, and ultimately school readiness. The early intervention ABA Day Program combines one-on-one therapy with group activities in a preschool-style classroom setting, including circle time, motor skills, and arts and crafts. The center’s feeding clinic—only the second of its kind in the area—is designed to leverage ABA, Speech and Language Therapy, and Occupational Therapy together instead of simply the mechanics of eating.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to introduce MeBe’s Learning Center concept to the community,” said Patrick Bunt, MeBe co-founder and president. “It’s always been our mission to provide families the highest quality, most comprehensive services available for their children and the Learning Center represents yet another step toward that objective.”

From providing a group of supportive peers for children to practice their skills, to facilitating group training for parents, to offering programs that help them learn to follow group instructions in a classroom setting, MeBe’s founders are committed to bringing it all together to help children practice essential life interactions.

The MeBe San Diego Learning Center is located at 3878 Ruffin Road, San Diego, California, 92123. Learn more about the learning center at http://www.mebefamily.com or by calling (619) 795-9925.
