Easy To Do New Years’ Resolutions that Transform Holiday Stress Will Be Presented at a Free January 6, 2022 Webinar

January 6 Webinar for
Easy New Years’ Resolutions

“Every negative, harmful thought can easily be transformed into positive and expansive forms of healing, creative energy when you simply experiment with the unerring wisdom of Your Conscience.” Leonard Perlmutter (Ram Lev)

With Christmas and New Year’s just around the corner, the American Meditation Institute will present a free webinar January 6 that provides down to earth instruction on how to resolve life’s stressful challenges. Led by Leonard Perlmutter, internationally recognized authority on the use of the Conscience as holistic Mind/Body Medicine and author of the new book YOUR CONSCIENCE, a distinguished panel of Yoga Scientists will share their own personally designed experiments with using the Conscience to successfully transform stress into gifts of happiness, health and security.

Perlmutter implores people to start experimenting with their own Conscience this New Year—and to see for themselves the kinds of positive changes that develop in their lives—with no stress involved! He reminds his students, “Whatever your New Years’ resolution turns out to be, you’re always best off if you start small: give up that second piece of pie, but thoroughly enjoy the first piece without guilt. Make a commitment to smile more, pause and take a breath before engaging in difficult conversations, or replace your afternoon coffee with a cup of hot water. Try the experiment for a week and notice how you feel.” According to Perlmutter, “If it isn’t easy, it isn’t the right experiment. Start small. But start somewhere. Give yourself the gift of intention—toward better health, improved relationships, greater creativity, joy and self-confidence.”

The webinar will be interactive, providing time for attendees to participate in Q&A.

“YOUR CONSCIENCE, The Key to Unlock Limitless Wisdom and Creativity and Solve All of Life’s Challenges” by Leonard Perlmutter with Jenness Cortez Perlmutter; AMI Publishers; First Edition; Nonfiction; Self-Help and Personal Growth; Release Date: September 7, 2021; Paperback: $14.95 ISBN 9780975375266.

New psychological thriller explores the subject of mental health through one woman’s journey from despair to hope

News Image

Mental health is always an issue in today’s society.

M. Kelly, author of “Pathways in the Mind” series, returns to the literary scene with the release of “Edge of Madness: An Australian Story” (published by Balboa Press AU). In this psychological thriller, readers follow one woman’s coming-of-age journey and beyond as her mental health deteriorates and she struggles to know why.

Marj’s peaceful and contented life in the farm is turned upside down when she finds herself orphaned at age 8 and sent to live with her great aunt. After several failed relationships, her path leads her to a mental health clinic in Dubbo, where she learns a name for her condition and how to avoid the triggers that set it off. Through brain training in the clinic, she slowly learns to navigate through depression and borderline personality disorder, which eventually leads to her recovery into a normal life.

“It’s a good story with an inspirational ending,” the author asserts. “Mental health is always an issue in today’s society. Often, people with BPD seem to spend their lives in never really finding answers that will help them. The ending for Marj is a good one.”

“Edge of Madness: An Australian Story” is an entertaining and educational read that will appeal to those who are dealing with mental health issues or who know someone who might find inspiration and encouragement in Marj’s story. Bryan Abrams Celebrates Third Year of Sobriety With Solo Music Debut of “Because of You” on December 10

Bryan Abrams; Photo credit Greer Inez Photography

“I’m extremely grateful to be able to finally share my music with the world during the holidays. I’m beyond thankful for another chance at life, and to create a legacy my wife and children can be proud of,” Abrams shared candidly.

Bryan Abrams, former front-man and founding member of the Billboard chart-topping iconic 90’s R&B/Pop crossover group Color Me Badd, is set to embark on his long-held dream of a solo career with the release of his new single, “Because of You” on December 10. Available for pre-order since November 23, the stirring ballad was co-produced by long-time collaborator Hamza Lee. The song is also featured in the Leslie Small-directed motion picture, ‘For The Love of Money,’ which premiered in theaters nationwide on November 24 starring Kat Williams, Rotimi and Keri Hilson.

Now in his third year of sobriety, Abrams previously announced his split from the group he founded and a renewed commitment to inspiring others and bringing awareness to the injustices within substance use and mental health treatment through his music. Abrams’ solo music debut comes after spending several years taking the power back over his life in his journey of recovery. Passing up many opportunities over the last 30 years out of loyalty to the band he helped create, Abrams recalls declining a recording deal offered by the late, legendary Andre Harrell.

“I’m extremely grateful to be able to finally share my music with the world during the holidays. I’m beyond thankful for another chance at life, and to create a legacy my wife and children can be proud of,” Abrams shared candidly. “Songwriting has always been my outlet, and with this new adventure, I’m excited to share songs from my vault accumulated after 25 years and new collaborations in the future.”

Throughout his journey of redemption, Abrams has shared vulnerably about his challenges with addiction, fame, fatherhood, depression and weight struggles in an effort to destigmatize seeking treatment for men and women around the world. Abrams is actively recording, as well as pursuing film and book projects. He is available for speaking engagements, media interviews and special guest commentary.

Bestselling author Rob A Gentile from Charlotte, NC. receives top reviews for his touching and powerful true story. Fans are invited to sign up on his website to win a free autographed copy.

George Noory of Coast to Coast AM interviews Rob: “(Quarks of Light) should be a movie”

Making medical history with his NuPulseCV iVAS heart pump, having survived a heart attack and eventually a heart transplant, Rob discovers a deeper understanding of the interrelationship between himself and his special needs daughter, his heart donor who succumbed to suicide, and the interconnectivity of the physical and spiritual. Listen to Rob speak candidly about his fears, doubts, suffering, and shortcomings while embracing love and gratitude for others and life in this unbelievable yet inspirational account.

What to know about Rob and his near-death experience book Quarks of Light:

Biography

Rob A. Gentile was born one of four boys outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Italian immigrants. His grandfather and father worked at a steel company where Rob also began his career right out of high school.

When the steel company that Rob had been working for went out of business, he found himself pursuing many of his talents, including his passion for photography. Rob drove to Guatemala to learn Spanish and became a freelance stringer covering the Contra war in Nicaragua for the New York Times and the Chicago Tribune in the late 1980’s. Rob spent time in combat situations. Often, young soldiers would dive on top of Rob to protect him while they were under fire. They told him they did that so he could help show the world the truth. Rob says that living through war was like training for the challenges that were looming in his life in the not-too-distant future.

Married to his wife, Melanie, for over 30 years, they have devoted themselves to their special needs daughter, Maria, who suffers from Rett Syndrome. Maria is in her twenties, and Rob refers to her as “pure spirit.” Throughout her childhood, he grappled with tough questions about prayer and why children must suffer.

For the past 25 years, he has worked as a sales engineer living in Texas, California, Tennessee and now resides in Charlotte, North Carolina. Rob has won several awards for his sales efforts including diversity supplier award for the Minority Business Development Council.

At age 56 he had a massive heart attack, then flatlined, and had a near-death experience (NDE). Self-discovery and spiritual awakening continued while waiting to receive a donor heart. His first book, “Quarks of Light” became a best-seller.

Boulo Partners with Veer Clinic to Provide Mental Health Support Services to Keep Working Moms in the Workforce

Mental Health Services for Working Parents

“When parents have access to the child development professionals at Veer, we see parental efficacy increase, parental stress decrease, and families get the critical support they need faster,” said Courtney Bolton, CEO of Veer.

Veer, the company providing pediatric behavioral health assessment and support for parents as a paid employee benefit, and Boulo, the company that connects women and caregivers who need flexible work options with great companies, are partnering to bring critical child development support to working mothers in an effort to get them back into and keep them in the workforce.

More than one million mothers were out of work at the end of 2020, and an additional 360,000 left in September citing issues with the demands of work-life balance. Boulo works to keep these women in the workforce by matching companies with experienced talent looking for flexible and relevant work options.

Many women and caregivers also lack employer-sponsored family benefits. Boulo is leading the charge to fill this need by partnering with Veer. The partnership will offer mental health services to women without corporate support systems.

Veer’s team conducts universal behavioral health screenings to identify children with social-emotional, academic, and mental health concerns early. Additionally, Veer can immediately provide resources and support so that parents can address those issues alongside trained and credentialed clinicians. Veer also works with parents to navigate getting local support and resources, significantly reducing the parent’s cost and time through tailored, personalized assistance.

“When parents have access to the child development professionals at Veer, we see parental efficacy increase, parental stress decrease, and families get the critical support they need faster,” said Courtney Bolton, CEO of Veer. “Offering this support to parents allows them to be more focused and productive at work, providing a compelling overall net benefit to families and the companies who employ them.”

“Using Veer’s services will provide our working caregivers with faster, more effective support that saves them time and resources. That’s what moms need right now – supportive solutions that help them be more present at work without feeling guilty about a concern at home,” said Boulo CEO, Delphine Carter.

The number of working parents still out of the workforce and the reports of parents considering leaving citing childcare and parenting concerns prompted Veer and Boulo’s partnership. The pilot program will support parents who don’t have access to these benefits from their companies. The program includes having direct access to a care team for all parenting needs – from guidance on sleep & lactation schedules to how to handle transitions and screen time or dealing with substance use/abuse and peer pressure for teenagers.

As working parents helming women-led businesses, both Carter and Bolton understand the pain points for mothers as well as the valuable contribution these women make to their employers and the economy. Most corporate support programming ends with return to work or when the baby is a year old, but the program offered by Boulo and Veer recognizes that parents need support from pregnancy through young adulthood.

Support services are available to all parents at veerclinic.com/boulo-parents beginning today with code ‘BOULO’ for monthly and an annual memberships. The membership provided through Veer provides age-appropriate milestone and behavioral health screenings (approximately a $3500 value) coupled with provider feedback, access to a Care Navigator, licensed clinicians trained in parenting support, and special education support and advocacy.

About Veer

Veer serves working parents by offering pediatric behavioral health assessment, early intervention and parenting support as a corporate benefit. We provide screenings, tailored intervention recommendations & parenting support services from birth to 21 years old. Our team of dedicated care navigators and clinicians help parents recognize, identify and get support for any behavioral or social-emotional concerns their children may face through the lifespan. Veer helps foster family-first cultures that benefit the entire company & team, starting with working families. http://www.veerclinic.com

ERS is designed to provide employment for adults who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and different disabilities through an ethical solution to electronics waste management.

The expansion has already created ten new jobs for adults with disabilities with plans to continue increasing the number of hires as they launch more locations across Tennessee in Franklin, Johnson City and Chattanooga.

“We are really proud of our employees at ERS. Through this expansion and upcoming expansions, we are going to be able to employ many more adults with disabilities,” said Dave Krikac, vice president of operations at Health Connect America. “One in five Americans has a diagnosed disability and fewer than 20 percent are employed, so this is very exciting for the state of Tennessee.”

Psilera Confirms PSIL-002, A New DMT Derivative, is Well-Tolerated and Non-Hallucinogenic from In Vivo Behavioral Studies

This biological data is key to our vision of reducing side effects such as hallucinations while further optimizing classical psychedelics into next-generation drugs

Psilera Inc. (“Psilera”), a Florida-based biotechnology company developing non-hallucinogenic derivatives of psychedelic compounds and outpatient delivery methods for the treatment of anxiety, substance abuse, and PTSD, is thrilled to receive positive results from in vivo preclinical studies. A modified DMT derivative, PSIL-002, was safe, well-tolerated, and without hallucinogenic effects at all administered dosages between 0.5 to 100 mg/kg in mice.

The head-twitch-response (“HTR”) assay in mice is a well-established and preferred method of assessing hallucinogenic effects in animals. Astonishingly, no dose of PSIL-002 induced the HTR as compared to the positive control, psilacetin (“4-AcO-DMT”), a psilocybin mimic. Other psychedelics like psilocybin and DMT often produce the HTR at doses from 1-10 mg/kg or as low as 0.05-0.1 mg/kg for LSD, further demonstrating the non-hallucinogenic potential of PSIL-002 and broader range for therapeutic dosing.

Psilera’s patent-pending new chemical entity (“NCE”) library was designed to maintain the positive mood benefits of current psychedelics while reducing hallucinations and cardiotoxicity. Psilera has carefully selected their NCEs aided by its proprietary BRAIN technology platform which virtually screens and filters compounds for psychedelic potential at multiple receptors, especially 5-HT2A. Reducing the hallucinogenic effects represent a compelling opportunity to develop therapeutic drugs which can be administered outside of a clinical setting, expanding the total addressable market.

“This biological data is key to our vision of reducing side effects such as hallucinations while further optimizing classical psychedelics into next-generation drugs,” said Dr. Chris Witowski, Co-Founder and CEO of Psilera, Inc. “Compounds like PSIL-002 have the potential to reach new patient populations in need with greater access than current models, especially for those suffering from conditions where hallucinations may be undesirable. We’re delighted to validate the results from our BRAIN platform and look forward to further data readouts to bolster our dataset and intellectual property strategy.”

Further in vivo studies with PSIL-002 will assess the antidepressant, anxiolytic, and anti-addictive properties specifically targeting alcohol consumption. A compound shown to reduce substance abuse, 4-AcO-DMT,1 as well as five additional patent-pending NCEs will be screened in the same battery of translational behavioral assays with data readouts over the next several months.

About Psilera – Psilera Inc. is a psychedelic-based biotechnology company developing its proprietary neuromodulator pipeline to target mental health disorders. With a proven and award-winning executive team, Psilera leverages research strengths from the pharmaceutical and cannabis industries to repurpose psychoactive natural products into patient-centric treatments. New formulations tailoring the therapeutic effects of DMT will improve treatment scalability and patient compliance further expanding addressable markets. Psilera’s technology platform (BRAIN) will identify next-generation compounds with modified psychedelic and therapeutic effects in the areas of mood, cognitive, and substance use disorders.

Cummings Graduate Institute Launches New Online Master’s Program in Healthcare Leadership

New Online Master’s Program at CGI

CGI’s Master of Healthcare Leadership program is 100% online, flexible, and takes advantage of cutting edge educational delivery best practices.

The COVID-19 pandemic has imposed significant barriers to healthcare access. Needs for system improvements and reinvention have never been more critical to population health sustainability. Gaps in training programs persist, despite the imperative for healthcare leaders to address growing gaps in healthcare delivery. In an effort to deliver the education and training that integrated care leaders and managers need now, Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies (CGI) is launching a new degree program that expands the university’s learning framework and creates opportunities for students to strengthen their career value while preparing to successfully lead cultural change in healthcare.

The new Master of Healthcare Leadership (MHL) degree program delivers advanced training in leading and managing integrated healthcare delivery. The MHL program will prepare students to transform healthcare settings using firm foundations in population health management, strategic thinking, critical analysis, and innovative change-management. The Master of Healthcare Leadership curriculum prepares graduates to:

  • effectively collaborate with multi-modality leadership
  • create a transformational culture around person-centered care
  • deliver evidence-based change management and leadership efficiency
  • quantify quality, risk management, and cost containment
  • design cost-effective population health approaches and improvements
  • create a holistic culture of care with a focus on the Quadruple Aim

“Healthcare systems are under more pressure than ever to meet the needs of more patients, many of whom are un- or under-insured, by creating new delivery models – all while managing the demands of more technology, information, costs, and lower provider pay. It’s a recipe for disaster. We must level-up the education and training of healthcare leaders who can achieve true systemic improvements. CGI’s new MHL program delivers just that,” said Dr. Cara English, DBH, CEO of Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies. “CGI’s Master of Healthcare Leadership program is 100% online, flexible, and takes advantage of cutting edge educational delivery best practices. The information we’ve packaged in this 30 credit hour program will enable entrepreneurially minded integrated care professionals to drive ethical and innovative solutions to challenges facing today’s healthcare environments.”

CGI will welcome their first MHL cohort in Fall 2022. Admissions applications are currently being accepted. Interested students can apply at https://cgi.edu/apply/. To learn more about the Master of Healthcare Leadership (MHL) degree program visit: https://cgi.edu/mhl/.

Keep Kids Safe Movement Launches Sweeping National Reform Blueprint

Keep Kids Safe: Prevention, Healing, and Justice for Kids

Keep Kids Safe: Prevention, Healing, and Justice for Kids

Keep Kids Safe, a movement of survivors and allies, will launch the National Blueprint to End Sexual Violence Against Children and Adolescents on November 18, 2021. The blueprint lays out an agenda for action calling on the executive and legislative branches to act immediately to keep our kids safe through comprehensive prevention, healing, and justice initiatives.

Most child-protection-focused policies, laws, and programs in the U.S. are underfunded, siloed, and fragmented. By making smart federal policy and funding investments as outlined in the Blueprint, the U.S. can deliver practical and cost-effective programs, policies, and systems that prevent child abuse as well as deliver effective interventions to assist children and families during and after a crisis and help survivors heal and seek justice.

“Every child has the right to grow up free from the threat of sexual violence,” said Dr. Daniela Ligiero, Executive Director & CEO of Together for Girls. “The National Blueprint lays out the path the United States must follow to create a safer world. I believe that when we work together, as survivors and allies, we are powerful. We must be brave so that children can be safe.”

“There is no more time to wait. The current patchwork of child safeguarding laws in the United States does not provide children, victims, and survivors the uniform access to prevention, healing, and justice that they deserve. We can end this, but we must do it together,” said Katelyn N. Brewer, President and CEO of Darkness to Light.

“It is high time that the issue of child sexual abuse is addressed at the highest level of government, and we believe this Blueprint contains the best strategies for prevention, healing and justice,” said Zach Hiner, Executive Director of SNAP. “The Keep Kids Safe coalition has done great work to create this roadmap and now it is time for our elected officials to use their offices to protect children and support survivors.”

“It is time for the government to prioritize ending child sexual abuse,” said Julie Ann Rivers-Cochran, executive director of The Army of Survivors. “As an organization focused on sexual violence in sports, we believe in the importance of child safety and wellbeing in all environments, whether it be the home, school, or field. Partner organizations have come together nationwide to provide expert opinion on this blueprint, which can serve as a roadmap for the U.S. government to provide immediate action.”

“We are in the midst of a civil rights movement for children. CHILD USA is thrilled to be one of four major child protection organizations to join hands through this blueprint, “said Marci Hamilton, Founder and CEO of CHILD USA. “Without a doubt, we are stronger together and the time for reform is now.”

Keep Kids Safe’s call for reform includes declaring sexual violence against children and adolescents a U.S. public health emergency. To appropriately address this diagnosis, the blueprint lays out solutions to accomplish reform including passing comprehensive national legislation, creating a bipartisan commission for child protection, convening a federal interagency task force, establishing a data working group, holding a national summit, launching public education and engagement campaigns, and mobilizing financial resources.

American children and adolescents are exposed to sexual violence of many forms at a staggering rate. Throughout the pandemic, many children have been separated from safe adults, mandated reporters, and trained professionals who could have protected them. Online child abuse and exploitation, already one of the biggest and fastest growing crime challenges nationally, has also spiked as children have spent unprecedented time online. Investment in systems that not only prevent child sexual abuse and exploitation from happening in the first place, but also on those that focus on effective interventions to assist children and families during and after crisis, is critical. Equally important are systems that help victims and survivors heal, thrive, and seek justice to hold offenders accountable and prevent further victimization.

Formed in 2020, the Keep Kids Safe is a powerful national movement of organizations, survivors, and allies including The Army of Survivors, CHILD USA, Darkness to Light, The Monique Burr Foundation for Children, the National Children’s Alliance, Prevent Child Abuse America, RAINN, SNAP, and Together for Girls. Working together, and with bold action from the federal government, Keep Kids Safe believes we can end sexual violence against children for this and for generations to come.

Narconon Suncoast Celebrates Six Years of Saving Lives and Bringing Families Back Together

Narconon Suncoast 6th Anniversary Photo

Narconon Suncoast 6th Anniversary Celebration

What I found here at Narconon is people finding purpose in life.

Since its opening six years ago, Narconon Suncoast has diligently worked with families and the community to help those caught in the grip of addiction and raise awareness about the escalating crises of substance abuse and resultant overdose deaths.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that more than 100,000 Americans died from drug overdoses between May 2020 and April 2021.  This is the highest number recorded in any one year. This represents an increase of almost 30% in the number of drug overdose deaths from the 78,000 deaths the year before.

To support and acknowledge its program graduates, Narconon Suncoast held its sixth anniversary. Family members and community leaders came together to acknowledge this milestone.

Lisa Muttart was given the Narconon Drug Free for Good award for setting a good example and being dedicated to helping others be drug free.  Lisa accepted her award with these words, “I have rebuilt my life inside and out. My kids have their mom back and my mom has her daughter back.”  Lisa was joined at the event by her mom, Michelle Kelley, who gave a heartfelt thanks to Narconon Suncoast for saving her daughter with these words, “When I saw her again, I saw my child and not just my child that I had lost for 10 years but my child from when she was little, with all the hope and the love and everything that she had in her life that she had lost.
