Neuropotential Clinics Showcases Neurofeedback Training To Combat COVID-Related Mental Health Distress

News Image

Neuropotential Clinics, Toronto’s leading neurofeedback training facility, is gaining popularity as more and more patients seek out non-invasive methods to manage and treat stress, anxiety, fatigue, depression, burnout, and more.

With the pandemic is in its’ second year, many people are starting to experience the negative effects of prolonged uncertainty. Some are experiencing burnout from juggling all the factors in their lives, and some are starting to feel anxious and depressed. The mental load that every person carries today is exponentially more than it was just two years ago. Some people, by nature or nurture, have the tools they need to succeed, but many do not and are starting to get lost in a downward spiral, feeling increasingly hopeless and helpless.

“Stress, anxiety, burnout and depression are more prevalent today due to the consequences of the pandemic, and we have seen this reflected in our Clinic. While it is terrible that so many more people are experiencing distress, it is encouraging to us that patients are recognizing their need for help, and are actively seeking supportive treatment options like neurofeedback training.” says Dr. Muller Clinical Psychologist at Neuropotential Clinics.

The tools needed to promote mental wellbeing vary from person to person. But, a common denominator across the board is an appreciation of the brain’s incredible power. Neurofeedback training is a non-invasive method to train the brain to be more relaxed, calm, alert and focused. Through a series of structured feedback exercises, patients learn how to self-regulate in the face of triggers and bypass the stress responses that can negatively interfere with their thoughts, actions and behaviours.

Neurofeedback training is successfully used to support the treatment of conditions like ADHD, learning disabilities, anxiety, stress, depression, PTSD, concussion, stress-related fatigue, and burnout. If that wasn’t enough, neurofeedback feedback training is also known to help build resilience, improve cognitive function and stress management, three factors that are key to ongoing mental wellbeing.

“Neurofeedback training is a very empowering process,” says Rajneel Sharma, Director at Neuropotential Clinics, “from beginning to end, we challenge patients to hone their new skills, develop confidence in their abilities, and truly discover their brain’s potential.”

More About Neuropotential Clinics:

Opened in 2017, Neuropotential Clinics offers state-of-the-art facilities with the latest software and technology required for neurofeedback training sessions. Conveniently located in Toronto, Ontario, the Clinic provides non-invasive treatments for anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, concussion, stress, burnout, and more.

A complimentary one-hour consultation is offered to all new patients, and a thorough, personalized treatment plan is finalized before neurofeedback training sessions begin.

Cerebral launches its first partnership with the National Health Service in the U.K. to improve access to quality mental health care for children and young adults

“This is an exciting initiative and a milestone in our growth, with more of these agreements still to come.”

Cerebral Inc., the leading online provider of psychiatric and behavioral therapy services, announced a new partnership with the National Health Service (NHS) in the U.K as the company continues its international expansion.

The collaboration offers digital mental health support to children and young people. It was launched Monday, February 7th, with the Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, which provides services to the South Staffordshire area of England.

Children and young people experiencing anxiety, depression and other mental health issues are offered online support ranging from personal therapy to gaming livestreams, live chat, and other engaging and fun digital content aimed at supporting children and young people’s emotional health and wellbeing.

“This is an exciting initiative and a milestone in our growth, with more of these agreements still to come,” foreshadowed Kyle Robertson, CEO of Cerebral Inc. “Our mission is to provide access to long-term, high-quality mental health care for all. Our efforts to help people have generated significant momentum.”

Cerebral is uniquely positioned to be the one-stop shop for high-quality mental health care for a wide range of conditions and to provide multiple treatment modalities including medication management, therapy, and digital therapeutics. Clinicians dramatically cut wait times, setting a goal of seeing patients in less than seven days– over 80% of members can have their initial visit within 3 days of signing up. The company has also expanded services to cover serious mental health illnesses such as bi-polar conditions and substance use disorders in certain states.

Cerebral was founded in January 2020 and has since made significant progress providing online mental health services to over 420,000 members. The company has also taken significant steps to making mental health more affordable through partnerships with insurance providers and employers and now covers more than 90 million lives.

The Midlands partnership was officially launched on Monday, February 7th to mark the start of the U.K.’s Children’s Mental Health Week. Children and young people are carefully matched with a therapist based on their preferences, including, for example, cultural or ethnic background; experience with trauma or abuse; or challenges commonly faced by the LGBTQIA+ community. This improves clinical outcomes by building a strong therapeutic alliance from the start.

Tim Hamer, U.K. General Manager for Cerebral, said there are discussions for a broader collaboration with the NHS taking place. “We are passionate about transforming access to high quality mental health care and are looking forward to delivering for South Staffordshire. We are really excited to see where this collaboration leads.”

About Cerebral

Cerebral’s mission is simple and straightforward: to improve access to affordable, high-quality, long-term mental health care to everyone who needs it. Unlike traditional mental health care, Cerebral is accessible, convenient, affordable, and free of stigma. With several full-service monthly subscription plans to choose from, members receive online access to prescribing providers, behavioral counselors, and talk therapists—all from the comfort of home or anywhere else with an internet connection. Visits are done via video chat, and members can message their care team directly. They’ll even receive medications delivered straight to their door (if prescribed). Cerebral was founded and launched in January 2020 by CEO Kyle Robertson. For more information, visit cerebral.com.

Fluence Raises $3 Million to Scale Psychedelic Therapy Training

Image: Fluence raises $3 million to scale psychedelic therapy training

We look forward to implementing the growth of our team that this funding will support and welcoming the next generation of therapists to our field.

Fluence, an educational platform that specializes in training and certification for psychedelic therapy and psychedelic integration therapy, announced today that it has completed a $3 million seed funding round. This completes Fluence’s initial fundraising round, the first close of which was announced on November 4, 2021.

Lead investors in the first close included JLS Fund, Palo Santo, and Neo Kuma, with LearnStart, Evolve Ventures and Foundation, Iter Investments, Baroda Ventures, Matthew Emerman, Michael Cotton, and Noah Levy completing the raise. Fluence will use the funding to launch new courses, trainings, and psychedelic therapy certificate programs, and to bolster the development of training software and expansion of their e-learning platform.

Founded in 2019 by Dr. Ingmar Gorman and Dr. Elizabeth Nielson, Fluence is an expertise-driven educational platform that provides professional certification and training in psychedelic therapy and psychedelic integration. The company, which has trained nearly 1,000 practitioners over the past two years, works directly with licensed healthcare professionals and graduate students to advance clinical skills and knowledge, giving clinicians the tools to provide their patients with effective, compassionate, evidence-based psychedelic therapy and integration services.

“Fluence is proud to provide high-quality professional education about psychedelic therapy for research and community-based clinical practice,” says Elizabeth Nielson, Ph.D., co-founder of Fluence. “The expertise of our team, developed in multiple psychedelic-assisted therapy clinical trials and research positions, translates to meaningful, engaging, and impactful training experiences for our trainees. We look forward to implementing the growth of our team that this funding will support and welcoming the next generation of therapists to our field.”

Today’s funding announcement comes amid growing public interest in psychedelic therapy and its potential as a breakthrough treatment for a variety of mental health conditions. In December 2021, The Harris Poll reported that almost two thirds of Americans suffering from anxiety, depression, or PTSD (65%) believe that psychedelic therapies should be available for them. Another 2021 survey conducted by The Learning Network found that nearly half (47%) of all clinicians have had patients ask about psychedelics to treat mental health issues, and that clinicians are overwhelmingly (87%) interested in learning more about psychedelic therapies.

Michael Kuntz, Fluence’s Chief Operating Officer, says, “This is an exciting milestone for Fluence, and a huge step towards the continued acceleration of our training capabilities and ability to equip tens of thousands of clinicians to practice psychedelic therapy in the years to come. We are proud to be working alongside such a well-established group of investors and partners who share our vision and desire to create greater access to novel mental health treatments through expertise and digital technology.”

Fluence is committed to preparing the next generation of clinicians to meet this new demand with integrity, compassion, and respect. With courses that cover a variety of treatment methods and modalities, Fluence offers students the most current evidence-based techniques in psychedelic therapy. The company has also developed partnerships with leading drug developers including Beckley Psytech, Tryp Therapeutics, Clairvoyant Therapeutics, and others to develop psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy manuals and custom training programs for clinical trial therapists, and will expand its capacity for future enterprise-level partnerships.

With its seed investment round complete and plans for future Series A funding in place, Fluence is better positioned to equip clinicians with the skills to ensure that their patients can integrate and make the most of their psychedelic experiences.

“With psychedelics, we are witnessing the emergence of new psychiatric treatment models,” says Fluence co-founder Ingmar Gorman, Ph.D. “The funding we have received will help us transform today’s mental health professionals into psychedelic therapists, and improve our ability to support our drug developer clients to create the psychedelic treatments of the future.”

In preparation for the 2023 implementation of Measure 109 in Oregon and the future licensing of psilocybin facilitators, Fluence is developing a psilocybin-assisted therapy program to meet Oregon Health Authority requirements and train clinicians in this professional capacity.

ABOUT FLUENCE

Fluence is an expertise-driven educational platform that provides professional certification and training in psychedelic therapy and psychedelic integration for psychiatrists, psychotherapists, social workers, and other healthcare practitioners. Fluence’s mission is to give healthcare providers the clinical skills and knowledge to provide effective, compassionate, evidence-based psychedelic therapy and integration services to patients through dynamic, interactive online and in-person training.

Cayucos water damage specialists report top reasons to call professional services for cleaning up hoarding situations

water damage Cayucos

The potential hazards are far beyond what can be safely handled with drugstore rubber gloves, masks, and rain boots.

Hoarding is a difficult situation for all concerned. Along with the emotional stress there is often an added layer of stress caused by the health department, fire department, even law enforcement being involved. The team from SERVPRO of Morro Bay / King City serving Cayucos for water damage and other property damage situations, has prepared a report of the top reasons that the professional clean up services provided by SERVPRO can help make cleaning up a hoarding situation much less stressful.

Once a hoarding situation comes to light and the person who has been suffering from hoarding is safe, the family’s first thought is to grab some masks, gloves and trash bags and start cleaning. Initially, this might seem like a good idea to save some money, but in the long run, it could actually wind up costing more than expected.

No one really know what is hidden in, behind and underneath the stacks of boxes, books, clothing, magazines, dirty dishes and often spoiled food. The hazards are not limited to a stack of boxes falling and injuring someone. The potential hazards are far beyond what can be safely handled with drugstore rubber gloves, masks, and rain boots.

Special respiratory gear along with other appropriate bio-hazard protective wear is critical and the professional cleaning team from the Cayucos water damage company have all of the necessary equipment. When cleaning up a hoarding situation, workers are exposed to:

  • The piles of trash and garbage that have attracted rodents, wild animals, insects and more. All of these have the potential of carrying bacteria, allergens and even viral infections.
  • Animal droppings and urine that not only stinks, but depending on the animal some droppings can carry pathogens. Ammonia exposure can also cause upper respiratory problems and prolonged exposure can cause a range of symptoms and health conditions.
  • Air contaminated by mold spores and stenches arising from a variety of decaying material, including food.
  • Blood, vomit, and needles, and other bodily fluids can be disease-ridden and expose the unprepared handler to a variety of infectious diseases. Additionally, untended bodily fluids attract bacteria and can create other health threats.
  • Flammable, caustic, and potential explosive substances. These materials are not always in the original containers and labels can be missing.
  • Pharmaceuticals, prescription or illegal, can cause health dangers. Some medications become more toxic over time and when past their expiration date, exposure to them is a health hazard.

Along with the potential for injury and exposure to hazardous conditions, other considerations include:

  • The logistics required to remove all of the trash, some that may require special handling
  • Identifying and remediating damage caused by water leaks and mold
  • Cleaning the house and any other buildings such as a garage or sheds
  • Completely removing odors
  • Making necessary repairs to return the home to livable condition
  • Passing any health or fire department inspections that may be required before the home can be lived in again
  • Submitting and monitoring any insurance claim

These are all tasks for which SERVPRO technicians are trained and equipped. Not only is the team equipped with the appropriate personal protective wear, they arrive equipped with all of the equipment and supplies needed to thoroughly dry out water damage, remove mold, remove odors and clean areas such as air ducts, that are often overlooked. In addition, the team is experienced and certified in a range of cleaning situations such as:

  • Sewage and biohazard cleanup
  • Odor removal
  • Trauma and crime scene cleanup
  • Vandalism and graffiti

In addition, the Cayucos water damage specialists can help you file and monitor any insurance claim. As a national company, SERVPRO works with most insurance companies to streamline the claims process, removing one level of stress from the insured. The team from SERVPRO of Morro Bay / King City works quickly and efficiently to make the property clean and safe as soon as possible.

Co-owner Heather Skelton encourages anyone who suspects a friend or family member might be hoarding and living in unsafe conditions to contact the appropriate medical or mental health professionals as soon as possible. When the home’s occupants are safe and the public safety officials have stated that the home is ready for debris removal and cleaning, call SERVPRO to get the home cleaned and restored.
