Altoida Chief Science Officer Ioannis Tarnanas to Keynote at Worldwebforum

Altoida Inc. today announced that Chief Science Officer Ioannis Tarnanas has been selected to keynote at the upcoming Worldwebforum to share how Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR) and Active Digital Biomarkers (aDM) can be applied to the early detection of Alzheimer’s Disease. Tarnanas joins an elite group of leading academics and business innovators carefully chosen to present on how they are driving radical change and finding answers to future challenges.

“Dementia is one of the biggest health challenges facing society today, and 30% of the population aged 65 or older will be living with Alzheimer’s by 2025,” said Tarnanas. “Yet, research shows 1 in 3 dementia cases are preventable if diagnosed early. Altoida was founded to solve this by harnessing advances in technology to detect brain changes early in the disease process, before permanent and irreversible brain damage occurs.”

Founded by Tarnanas and a team of esteemed neuroscientists, physicians and computer scientists, Altoida is reinventing digital biomarkers to drive better clinical outcomes for brain disease. Now healthcare professionals have a novel way to objectively assess cognitive and everyday functions before the onset of symptoms.

The Worldwebforum’s 8th annual meeting is focused on empowering radical change, and takes place Jan 16 -17 in Zurich, Switzerland at the StageOne Event and Conference Hall. Ioannis Tarnanas’ keynote takes place on January 17th from 10:15 – 11:15 a.m. in Room 5 under the Data Ethics in Healthcare session. “Groomed:” A New Level of Freedom from Child Abuse and Potential Sex Trafficking in America

Groomed, (HarperCollins, 1/14/2020) delves into how women are groomed at an early age for a lot more than just sex

Fisher Good draws out five specific ways that women have been groomed – from physical appearance to spirituality to finances – and shows how those manipulative messages are detrimental to our development of self-confidence and self-worth.

Women in America have been groomed for a lot more than sex, says Elizabeth Melendez Fisher Good, new author of Groomed, published January 14, 2020 by Harper Collins.

A groundbreaking book stemming from personal experiences in childhood of sexual abuse, family tragedy and rebellion, Fisher Good explores a dark theme that few have written about that delves into the age-old practice of families and society as a whole keeping “secrets” that ultimately prohibit us from realizing our own self- worth and limit our potential. Fisher Good weaves into her story the idea of women being “groomed,” or prepared, trained, conditioned for something. While some grooming isn’t always a bad thing for some, for many women it has far-reaching, negative effects that leaves girls and women to feel worthless and out of control.

“Even if child abuse or sex trafficking isn’t your past, we were all groomed for something and we all deserve to live in freedom….and this book is for every woman,” says Fisher Good.

By co-founding Selah Freedom and The Selah Way Foundation eight years ago, she uses her vast expertise as the CEO with a Master’s in Clinical Psychology working with victims of child abuse and sex trafficking (called “survivors”), and cites statistics and personal accounts of how women have triumphed after being groomed to keep secrets. She offers readers a way to overcome their past, starting with all-important but rarely explored idea of a selah, or a time of rest and reflection, and explores active ways to forgive and move forward to a new level of freedom.

Fisher Good says she was inspired to write Groomed so that women could reclaim their lives and not be defined by their dark past. “No one has to live for her groomers,” says Fisher Good. “It’s time to take a look at where we came from to escape the messages of our past and take control of our future.”

The book is an alarming revelation of how much of an epidemic child abuse is in America and how this abuse can lead to sex trafficking. “A staggering one out of three women in America was a victim of sexual abuse at some point in her childhood. No matter how many years it’s been – if that’s your story – those scars are probably still with you. But even if that’s not part of your story, this book is for you,” says Fisher Good.

Groomed guides readers toward an understanding that grooming is oftentimes subtle, but it’s always life-altering. Fisher Good draws out five specific ways that women have been groomed – from physical appearance to spirituality to finances – and shows how those manipulative messages are detrimental to our development of self-confidence and self-worth.

Join Fisher Good at one of several national Freedom Book Signing Events! Proceeds from all sales go directly to supporting Selah Freedom’s mission to end sex trafficking.

Groomed releases January 14, 2020 (W Publishing, an imprint of HarperCollins/Thomas Nelson; softcover, $17.99; also available in audio and e-book).

Publishers Weekly says:

“With sharp insight culled from years of counseling experience, Good helps women find ways to confront grooming and take practical steps toward creating a healthier future.”

National Center on Sexual Exploitation, Sr. Vice President Dawn Hawkins says:

“A must-read for anyone with baggage! Not only does Elizabeth help us to unpack the layers of troubling messages told to us throughout our lives, but in doing so, she frees us to find the healing and light we didn’t even realize we needed. As one who works regularly with survivors of the sexual exploitation industry, this book greatly helped me to see the complexities that compound the trauma suffered by victims more clearly.”

An advocate and visionary, Elizabeth Melendez Fisher Good is the CEO and co-founder of Selah Freedom and the Selah Way Foundation, which exist to prevent sexual abuse, exploitation, and sex trafficking of children and young adults. Her leadership has brought freedom to thousands of American children and young adults who have been rescued from the sex trade and she has helped educate millions on the topics of exploitation and sex trafficking. She not only breaks barriers and redefines leadership across the board, but also steadfastly leads the charge in fighting for justice for the marginalized and exploited. In her new book, Groomed (HarperCollins), she challenges individuals to step out of past lies they have believed and shame which keeps them living in bondage and embrace true freedom which comes from vulnerability, transparency and living beyond the shadows of secrecy.

National Survey Highlights Importance of Social Connection in Improving Well-being among Veteran Community

This survey highlights that providing free access to a wide range of community activities is creating much needed social connection — the fundamental ingredient for improving physical and mental well-being – to our military veteran population.

Service members and veterans find that attending events in their community improves their relationships, depression and PTSD symptoms, and overall well-being which can ease reintegration periods according to a major new survey released by the nonprofit Veteran Tickets Foundation (Vet Tix).

The annual survey received input from more than 52,000 currently serving military personnel and veterans who have signed up for Vet Tix’s benefits to free tickets to sporting events, concerts, performing arts and family activities. Service members and veterans tend to experience challenges as they reintegrate into their families, communities, and eventually, into civilian life. In order to better serve this population, Vet Tix’s survey investigated multiple areas in relation to Vet Tix’s impact, including community involvement and sense of belonging, social support, well-being, mental health, reintegration issues, event attendance and relationship impact.

Survey results showed positive impact on relationships and well-being, as 97% of respondents reported that attending Vet Tix events improves their relationships. Also, 61% of respondents reported that attending Vet Tix events has reduced their depression, anxiety, or PTSD symptoms.

View more results and the Vet Tix Impact Survey Overview here: https://www.vettix.org/impact-survey.php

These results strongly suggest that increasing social interaction and creating new, positive memories is helping our ‘VetTixers’ overcome mental health problems and PTSD.

“This survey highlights that providing free access to a wide range of community activities is creating much needed social connection — the fundamental ingredient for improving physical and mental well-being – to our military veteran population,” said Vet Tix CEO Mike Focareto. “Maintaining a sense of connection to one’s community during and after service is essential to many transitioning personnel and shows us just how impactful a Vet Tix event can be for veterans, service members, and their families. This is especially true in helping military families adjust to new communities after a relocation.”

“Vet Tix is evermore encouraged by the feedback from our community that Vet Tix enriches the lives of veterans and their families by increasing their community engagement and diversifying their experiences,” continued Focareto.

ABOUT VETERAN TICKETS FOUNDATION

Veteran Tickets Foundation (Vet Tix), a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit, provides free tickets to sporting events, concerts, performing arts and family activities to currently serving military, National Guard and Reserves, veterans of all eras, immediate family of those killed in action, and VetTixers’ caregivers. Since 2008, Vet Tix has provided over 8 million free event tickets to more than 1.4 million members. In 2018 Vet Tix launched 1st Tix, which provides the same service to our nation’s current and retired law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMTs. These events help veterans and first responders reduce stress, strengthen family bonds, build lifelong memories, and encourage them to stay engaged with American life and their local communities. Seamlessly integrating a patient engagement platform with a behavioral and psychosocial assessment solution will not only reduce suffering, but it will save lives,” says Lorenz.

With a shared vision of reinventing the future of health, these two health technologies came together through StartUp Health, a group that supports and fosters digital health startups.
