Dr. David Mahjoubi of Ketamine Healing Clinic Named 2020 Top Doctor by Los Angeles Magazine

News Image

I am once again honored to be chosen as a Los Angeles Top Doctor and recognized by such respected and talented physicians in the community. I plan to continue my dedication to helping others realize the benefits of Ketamine therapy, says Dr. David Mahjoubi of Ketamine Healing Clinic of Los Angeles.

Dr. David Mahjoubi, is a highly trained board-certified Anesthesiologist and owner of Ketamine Healing Clinic of Los Angeles located at 1762 Westwood Boulevard suite 320 in Los Angeles, California 90024. Dr. Mahjoubi is uniquely qualified to administer IV infusion therapy of Ketamine to treat depression symptoms as well as anxiety and chronic pain.

Los Angeles Magazine recently recognized Dr. David Mahjoubi in their coveted “Top Doctor” list for 2020. Dr. Mahjoubi, who also achieved this acknowledgment when the Top Doctor list was first produced three years ago, is listed among a respected group of physicians in the Anesthesiology category. Dr. Mahjoubi was chosen based on the respect earned from his peers and colleagues. The magazine issues a thorough nomination and review process conducted by PRS (Professional Research Services), which involves a peer-to-peer survey and voting from practicing physicians throughout Los Angeles County. Inclusion into Los Angeles’ Magazine’s Top Doctors cannot be purchased, and advertising has no influence on the review process. Dr. Mahjoubi’s valued distinction as a Top Doctor will soon appear in the April 2020 issue of Los Angeles Magazine.

Dr. Mahjoubi is most known for his alternative approach to depression treatment. He is among a very elite group of physicians in the United States to use Ketamine to treat depression as well as chronic pain. As an experienced Anesthesiologist, Dr. Mahjoubi understands Ketamine as a safe anesthetic medication that has been used for over half a century. However, Ketamine’s value in treating major depression symptoms is a breakthrough therapy that is highly sought-after at Dr. Mahjoubi’s Los Angeles clinic. Patients receive a calculated protocol of IV Ketamine infusions and may also choose Dr. Mahjoubi’s exclusive Ketamine intranasal spray for supplementary treatment at home. Patients who are not tolerating anti-depressants or resistant to other forms of depression treatment often make ideal candidates for Ketamine. As a non-opioid and non-addictive therapy, Ketamine has also shown valued efficacy for treating chronic pain and fibromyalgia.

“I am once again honored to be chosen as a Los Angeles Top Doctor and recognized by such respected and talented physicians in the community. I plan to continue my dedication to helping others realize the remarkable benefits of Ketamine therapy,” says Dr. David Mahjoubi of Ketamine Healing Clinic of Los Angeles.

More About Dr. David Mahjoubi of Ketamine Healing Clinic of Los Angeles:

David Mahjoubi, MD is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology. He earned his Doctor of Medicine at The Chicago Medical School. Dr. Mahjoubi carries over a decade of experience with intravenous Ketamine, beginning from his residency training at the University of Southern California (USC) + Los Angeles County Medical Center. He is the author of multiple publications in the medical field and holds high honors from his educational years. Following his residency, Dr. Mahjoubi joined the Anesthesia Group at Northridge Hospital Medical Center and became the most active user of IV Ketamine for both conscious sedation and general anesthesia cases. After working at surgical centers throughout Southern California, he quickly noted the beneficial mental health effects of IV Ketamine in many patients post-procedurally. Ketamine Healing Clinic of Los Angeles was thus founded, and now provides a highly effective treatment for patients with treatment-resistant depression and chronic pain.

Conscious Discipline Announces Locations, Opens Registration for Nine 2020 Summer Institute Satellites

Conscious Discipline

“Summer Institute is an intensive learning opportunity that challenges participants to reflect on their beliefs and past experiences,” said Conscious Discipline Master Instructor Jill Molli.

Conscious Discipline, a trauma-responsive, comprehensive social and emotional learning (SEL) provider that combines evidence-based practices in SEL, school climate, classroom management and self-regulation, today announced nine satellite locations for its 2020 Summer Institutes. The satellite events are located throughout the United States and in Mexico.

Conscious Discipline’s annual Summer Institute provides an in-depth introduction to the adult mindset shift and skillset upgrade that is required to effectively implement SEL in a classroom, school or district. The program uniquely emphasizes that adults must learn SEL skills first before they can effectively teach these skills to children. The in-demand event blends interactive lectures, modeling of SEL skills and techniques, and daily hands-on practice in a small group setting. In 2020, two main sessions in Orlando will be led by Dr. Becky Bailey, the creator of Conscious Discipline and an award-winning author, teacher and pioneer in SEL. Conscious Discipline Master Instructor Jill Molli will facilitate a third main session alongside video teaching from Dr. Bailey.

Satellite locations offer a compelling registration value and allow more attendees to experience Summer Institute at convenient locations around the U.S. and in Mexico. Each Institute Satellite is virtually connected with the main Institute sessions in Orlando, receiving direct video teaching from Dr. Bailey and sharing real-time, engaging interactions with other Satellite locations. Master Instructors facilitate additional training on-site, supported by a team of Certified Instructors and Helpers.

“Summer Institute is an intensive learning opportunity that challenges participants to reflect on their beliefs and past experiences,” said Conscious Discipline Master Instructor Jill Molli. “We bring SEL concepts to life throughout the week with real examples, informed practice and personal connections.”

Free Event for Moms of Children With Autism by Therapy and Beyond

Mom's Mingle

Mom’s Mingles

“Mingling with other moms in a safe and motivating environment leaves a lasting impression on our Autism moms & allows them to continue being the best mothers that they can be. It’s a great feeling when we can get together to be free, glammed up, win prizes, & network.” – Autism Moms Are Beautiful

Each year Therapy and Beyond, a leading ABA provider across Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado, partners with local organizations to host Mom’s Mingles that are designed for 100+ moms of children with autism. This event allows moms to mingle with others in their community on the same journey, and ultimately, enjoy a night of carefree fun. The highly anticipated 3rd annual North Houston Mom’s Mingle will be held March 23rd, 2020 in North Houston. Registration fills fast and will be open on Friday, February 21st, 2020.

About the Mom’s Mingles

According to the CDC, about 1 in 59 children has been identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Because parents play a pivotal role in a child’s treatment, they can often find themselves feeling isolated and lost. The Mom’s Mingles aim to share resources, connect mothers with their local communities, and give moms a night to let their hair down. This year, Therapy and Beyond has partnered with Autism Moms Are Beautiful for moms to indulge in free food, drinks, raffle prizes, Mardi Gras themed games and most importantly, the chance to create new and long lasting friends and support.

Details about the North Houston Mom’s Mingle and other free upcoming events are available on Therapy and Beyond’s event page.

“Autism moms are beautiful and they rock! Mingling with other moms in a safe and motivating environment leaves a lasting impression on our Autism moms and allows them to continue being the best mothers that they can be. It is a great feeling when we can get together to be free, glammed up, as well as win prizes, dance the night away and network. It leaves us feeling excited and motivated!” – Autism Moms Are Beautiful

In 2013, founder of Therapy and Beyond, Dr. Crone wanted to create a community giveback that didn’t focus on a workshop or learning a new skill, but would simply give moms the opportunity to bond and have an amazing night out. In turn, the Mom’s Mingle event was born in Dallas, Texas and since has been so successful that Therapy and Beyond began to establish annual Mom’s Mingles in other cities such as Denver, Oklahoma City, and Houston.

About Therapy and Beyond

Therapy and Beyond was founded in 2006 on the principle that there is hope for every child. Today, they provide 1:1 individualized ABA therapy for individuals on the autism spectrum in Oklahoma, Texas and Colorado. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the most commonly prescribed treatment for children on the spectrum, and focuses on expanding functional communication skills, executive functioning skills, and advancing each child’s independence. In addition to helping individuals on the spectrum through ABA, one of Therapy and Beyond’s goals is to find ways to give back to the autism community as a whole, through free events like the Mom’s Mingles and much more.

CARD Secures Updated Guidance Ensuring Mental Health Parity for Medi-Cal Children

Vertical logo for Center for Autism and Related Disorders, LLC (CARD) of the CARD globe with paper cutouts of children

This guidance will make autism treatment more accessible to our most vulnerable children.

California’s Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) recently released updated guidance to the managed care plans who administer benefits for Medi-Cal beneficiaries. The updated guidance clarifies that the plans must comply with the federal Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA). MHPAEA prohibits limitations for mental health services from being more restrictive than limits for medical/surgical services. This updated guidance helps ensure access to critical autism treatment services.

Since 2014, when California began covering behavioral health treatment for its pediatric Medi-Cal population diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) has worked with Autism Speaks and the Autism Legal Resource Center to secure guidance from DHCS stating that Medi-Cal’s children with ASD are protected by MHPAEA. Without this clarification from DHCS, some managed care plans have imposed conditions, such as parent participation requirements, that put Medi-Cal benefits out of reach for some families.

“This guidance will make autism treatment more accessible to our most vulnerable children,” said CARD Vice President of Government Relations Julie Kornack. “Governor Newsom’s commitment to mental health parity is clear, and this policy change will make a real difference for our families.”

When not applied to substantially all medical/surgical services, some of the policies and practices prohibited by MHPAEA include hour and visit limits, parent/caregiver participation requirements, treatment plan templates, location exclusions, standards for network participation, including reimbursement rates that result in limited or no access to treatment, and plan methods for determining usual, customary, and reasonable charges.

About Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD)

Center for Autism Related Disorders (CARD) is the world’s largest provider of evidence-based autism treatment, providing services to individuals of all ages who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) at treatment centers around the globe. CARD was founded in 1990 by leading autism expert and clinical psychologist Doreen Granpeesheh, PhD, BCBA-D. CARD treats individuals with ASD using the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA), which is empirically proven to be the most effective method for treating individuals with ASD and recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the US Surgeon General. Legacy Oaks of Sacramento is Thrilled to Receive a Deficiency-Free Survey

Logo

We are honored to recognize the outstanding staff and their effort towards improving health care quality and patient care for residents at Legacy Oaks of Sacramento.

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has administered its rigorous inspection in 2019 and deemed Legacy Oaks of Sacramento, a Meridian Senior Living assisted living and memory care community, deficiency-free.

“We are honored to recognize the outstanding staff and their effort towards improving health care quality and patient care for residents at Legacy Oaks of Sacramento,” said Glen Cummins Regional Director of Operations of Meridian Senior Living. “Their commitment to quality of care reflects their dedication to enrich the residents’ lives by virtue of our WOW! culture. At our core we believe; ‘Everyone deserves a great life.’”

The state of California’s inspection for deficiencies is a thorough and lengthy process. In order for an assisted living community to achieve a deficiency-free survey, all services provided at the facility must meet or exceed all state and federal standards. Over 17,000 deficiencies were documented among senior living communities, according to CDPH’s 2016-17 data report (most current available). Receiving a 100% deficiency free status is uncommon in CA and reflects a high standard of service at the assisted living community.

The CDPH inspects assisted living communities periodically to evaluate their services and systems in place and oversee fulfilment with federal and state laws and regulations. Surveyors arrive unannounced to assess the facility and determine compliance with regulations governing areas such as policies and procedures, staff competencies, medication administration, medical records, resident care, quality of care and quality of life, kitchen sanitation, dietary needs, equipment, safety, and overall wellness of the community. The assisted living community is awarded a “deficiency-free” survey when all of these regulations are met.

Receiving a deficiency-free state survey means that residents at Legacy Oaks of Sacramento can expect the highest level of care in a secure environment, which is key when families are selecting a senior living community for their loved one. For more information about Legacy Oaks of Sacramento, visit https://www.legacyoaksofsacramento.com or call (916) 245-1334.

Parkrose Gardens of Fairfield is Honored to Recieve a Deficiency-Free Survey

logo

We enrich the lives of our residents, families and employees through extraordinary experiences … because Everyone Deserves A Great Life!’ With this mission and dedication to our resident’s quality of care, we are able to achieve a 100% deficiency-free survey.

A Meridian Senior Living community, Parkrose Gardens of Fairfield Exclusive Memory Care in Fairfield, CA, is honored to receive a deficiency-free survey in December 2019 as administered by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).

“I am so proud of the staff and their hard work and commitment to our residents and their families,” stated Glen Cummins Regional Director of Operations of Meridian Senior Living. “Every one of our team members at Parkrose Gardens believes and follows our mission which is: ‘We enrich the lives of our residents, families and employees through extraordinary experiences … because Everyone Deserves A Great Life!’ With this mission and dedication to our resident’s quality of care, we are able to achieve a 100% deficiency-free survey.”

Senior living communities must meet or exceed all state and federal standards in order to accomplish a deficiency-free survey. This accomplishment is particularly difficult to achieve in California, due to its rigorous inspection process. A deficiency-free survey is uncommon to achieve and indicates a high level of service at a senior living community. In 2016-17, there were over 17,000 deficiencies among senior living facilities documented in CDPH’s data report.

In California, senior living communities are inspected periodically to ensure services and systems in place are compliant with federal and state laws and regulations. Over a course of multiple days, inspectors arrive unannounced to assess the facility. Surveyors determine compliance with regulations governing areas such as policies and procedures, resident care, quality of care and quality of life, medication administration, medical records, kitchen sanitation, staff competencies, dietary needs, equipment, safety, and overall wellness of the community. The senior living community is awarded a “deficiency-free” survey when all of these regulations are met.

At Parkrose Gardens of Fairfield, achieving an outstanding state survey means that seniors can anticipate the highest level of care in an optimal environment, which is important when selecting a senior living community. Improving Patient Adherence and Outcome Measurement with Game Design, Upcoming Webinar Hosted by Xtalks

Xtalks Life Science Webinars

Games can improve knowledge about health-related behaviours, and encourage participation in treatment programs and clinical trials.

In a live webinar taking place on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 11am EST (4pm GMT/UK) attendees will be invited to obtain first-hand experience of gamified healthcare technology in the context of Alzheimer’s disease, especially regarding its early assessment. The featured speakers will present the Sea Hero Quest project, a video game that enabled data collection from over 4 million people across the planet to help Alzheimer’s disease research.

Gamification is the application of typical elements of game design to encourage engagement with a product or service, making it more fun to use. In the healthcare industry, gamification can help collect quality data (e.g., cognitive markers) in a noninvasive manner as well as retain respondents for future evaluations. Games can improve knowledge about health-related behaviours, and encourage participation in treatment programs and clinical trials. Innovation in health assessment and monitoring (e.g., wearable devices, online surveys, etc.) with the daily use of portable digital devices such as tablets, smartphones and laptops in today’s population supports a favourable environment for gamification implementation in healthcare systems.

Participants will learn about:

  • How traditional experience, quality and outcome measurements with questionnaires can be gamified in engaging and fun experiences using playful interactions and Chabot technologies
  • New insights into the opportunities that a gamified approach offers for exploratory analyses of data collected using digital technology
  • A live example of how a cognitive assessment relevant for Alzheimer’s disease can be embedded in a game suitable to everyone
  • Biases inherent to gamification: how do we know that what we measure with games contains information beyond the mere familiarity with technology?

Join industry experts Michaël Acquadro, PhD, Associate Outcome Researcher, Patient Centred Outcomes at ICON plc and Antoine Coutrot, PhD, Researcher at the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), based at the Laboratoire des Sciences du Numérique de Nantes, France, for an informative discussion. A live Q&A with the audience will be included.

For more information or to register for this free event, visit Improving Patient Adherence and Outcome Measurement with Game Design.
