Better Noise Films Releases The First Trailer for “SNO BABIES” Coming To On-Demand & Digital on September 29th

Sno Babies film poster

“From the first minute, I was hooked. Ridiculously powerful movie!” – Recovery Today

Better Noise Films has released the first trailer to Bridget Smith’s feature film SNO BABIES. The film, produced by Allen Kovac, Mike Walsh and Michael Lombardi, stars Katie Kelly (Game of Silence), Paola Andino (Queen of the South), Michael Lombardi (Rescue Me), Evangeline Young (The Good Wife) and Joanne Baron (This Is Us). SNO BABIES will be available on On-Demand & Digital platforms on Tuesday, September 29.

A gripping and emotive tale, SNO BABIES depicts the grim realities of addiction and its effects on a middle-class suburban town. Kristen and Hannah are best friends–smart, likable and college-bound– and also addicted to heroin. The pair of seemingly unlikely addicts spiral down a path of destruction, hiding their secret from well-meaning but busy parents behind pink bedrooms and school uniforms SNO BABIES shows how easy it can be to both miss and hide the signs of addiction behind the façade of “good” neighborhoods and pleasantly busy communities.

SNO BABIES is the first feature from Better Noise Films, a new venture from entertainment mogul Allen Kovac. As manager of artists such as Bee Gee’s, Luther Vandross, Blondie, Meatloaf, Motley Crue and The Cranberries, Kovac has put together many TV Documentaries for his artists such as HBO special ‘The Bee Gee’s One Night Only’, MTV VH1 special ‘Mötley Crüe’s Resurrection of Mötley Crüe’, Meat Loaf: In Search of Paradise. Most recently Kovac co-produced Netflix 2018 sensation ‘The Dirt’ based on the life of Mötley Crüe, with 95% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and SNO BABIES is the first of two 2020 releases for Kovac’s Better Noise Films.

Kovac said, “Studio heads, agents and managers know there is nothing sadder than when an artist or actor you’ve worked with passes away through misadventure. This movie is a wakeup call to the entertainment industry that we can’t lose more Academy Award winners like Prince, Philip Seymour Hoffman, or River Phoenix.” He continued “With over 70,000 people dying of drug overdoses in 2019 in the USA, this film is a way parents can open up the conversation of drugs with their kids before they go to college, an older brother can share a link to SNO BABIES to his younger brother to watch and say that he’s there to answer any questions afterwards, or for a rehab group to watch together. This is a conversation we need to have in the USA to destigmatize addiction. I have worked with Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe and SIXX:AM for 13 years to make this a global conversation to save lives, please join us!“

With the country’s opioid epidemic spiking from COVID factors, and the entertainment industry continuing to lose its people to substance use disorders, Better Noise Entertainment has committed to fighting this problem by collaborating with the Global Recovery Initiatives Foundation (GRI) to raise funds that will strengthen the field of recovery and directly benefit struggling communities. Better Noise Entertainment will use their expertise in content creation, audience connection and creative storytelling to develop and amplify messaging to a wide pop-culture audience. Better Noise Films’ share of profits is being donated to GRI. In addition, all artist royalties from the soundtrack are being donated to GRI with matching contribution by Better Noise Music. The donation will be used to deploy 1,000 Recovery Corps workers into communities to provide peer support and access to services for those in early recovery.

Other entertainment industry companies collaborating on this project to save lives include Live Nation, Ticketmaster, iHeart, Pandora, Sirius among others.

“Pop culture is a key vehicle to breaking stigma and educating the public about both danger and hope,” said Catherine Hartnett, Executive Director of the Global Recovery Initiatives Foundation (GRI). “Young people, especially, resonate with messaging that is cultural and reflects emotional and personal experience. This movie and its soundtrack convey a message of hope coming from despair and can give a young person who is struggling a sense of hope that they too can get well and thrive.”

“It’s incredibly important to shine a light and lend a helping hand to people that are struggling with substance abuse, especially during these trying times,” said Rick Franks, President of Live Nation North American Touring. “Live Nation is proud to support Better Noise in their commitment to save lives and raise awareness for such an important cause.”

The official SNO BABIES soundtrack features some of the biggest names in rock music today. The soundtrack will include two tracks from SIXX:A.M. and will include the Top 10 hits from Country/Rock star Cory Marks (“Outlaws & Outsiders”) and from chart toppers Bad Wolves (“Sober” – the #1 hit) as well as new music from Eva Under Fire, From Ashes to New and Escape The Fate.

Top Parenting App Releases Groundbreaking Online Safety Feature

Parent views screenshots of child's device on iPhone.

Screenshots of children’s devices load to a secure gallery in OurPact.

View enables parents to keep an eye on what their kids are doing in these digital spaces – even if they aren’t able to physically monitor usage in real-time.

The popular parenting app, OurPact, has announced today the release of a groundbreaking and potentially controversial new feature, View, that allows parents to securely capture and remotely observe live screenshots of their children’s mobile devices.

With kids and teens spending more time than ever on screens due to quarantine, View provides parents with invaluable insight into their digital habits and activities, even when it’s not possible to be in the same physical space as them. The goal, according to OurPact’s CEO, is helping parents identify and address concerning patterns of online behavior that may otherwise go unnoticed.

While View’s monitoring technology is visible on children’s devices, this innovative feature is bound to initiate discussions around children’s right to parental privacy in online spaces – or, the responsibility of parents to monitor this same activity.

“In the past, children would use shared family computers that resided in common living areas, making it relatively easy to keep tabs on what they were doing online,” says Amir Moussavian, the Founder of OurPact. “Now, kids can interact with the entirety of the internet – both the good and the bad- with a private mobile device in their back pocket. View enables parents to keep an eye on what their kids are doing in these digital spaces – even if they aren’t able to physically monitor usage in real-time – and use the insights they gain to drive crucial, timely offline conversations.”

In an age of privacy concerns, OurPact has developed View with security front of mind. All images captured from children’s devices are encrypted end-to-end, ensuring they are only available to parents through a secure account login.

View is staged for a significant update in the coming months, aimed at providing parents with smart reports that share at-a-glance insights into children’s online habits. Today’s announcement establishes OurPact as a fully comprehensive suite of parental control features, including application management, location monitoring, web filtering, and monitoring capabilities.

About OurPact

OurPact is a top-rated parental control app, used by 1.2 million families around the world. OurPact offers management of children’s mobile iOS and Android devices through an iOS, Android or web parent application. To learn more and unlock a free trial of OurPact’s management suite, visit ourpact.com or install OurPact in your mobile App Store.

“A primary goal of The Health Insurance Appeals Guide is to empower individuals to better understand their rights to file a health insurance appeal,” notes Mary Covington, President, Denials Management and co-author. “Whether the individual is a patient, provider, family member, caregiver, or advocate, our shared health care goal is to get the right care to the right patient at the right time. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done. The health insurance system in the United States is complex and confusing. Individuals are often denied coverage by their insurance companies for needed treatment, even though, in most cases, insurers have a contractual and regulatory responsibility to cover and reimburse for evidence-based care that improves a patient’s clinical outcome.”

“Through a system of managed care, health plans can make ‘medical necessity’ or other types of coverage decisions that lead to denials. Sometimes these decisions are made for the right reasons—and prevent patients from receiving dangerous or unnecessary care—but, far too often, these decisions are made with subjective reasoning,” adds Garry Carneal, JD, MA, President and CEO, Schooner Strategies and co-author. “In these cases, patients are left without access to care or are stuck with medical bills they often cannot afford. Therefore, this Guide serves as an invaluable resource to help consumers and others navigate the appeals process.”

“Recognizing the importance of health care decisions in the lives of their constituents, federal and state regulators created a health insurance appeals system to provide an opportunity for people to challenge denials. The process of questioning an insurance company’s decision, or lack thereof, related to an insured’s health care needs has come to be known as the ‘insurance appeals process,’” remarks Justin Eckman, Director of Client Operations, Denials Management and co-author. “It is this process that the Guide seeks to explain.”

The publication is made up of the following sections to help consumers understand the pathway to file a health insurance appeal after a denial of care:

-Definitions. Part I includes a list of key acronyms and defines commonly used insurance and appeals terminology.

-What is health insurance? Part II offers important background information about health insurance and helps individuals determine what type of health plan they have. This information is necessary to understand before filing an insurance appeal because the plan type will determine what appeal options a patient has, as well as the regulatory bodies charged with overseeing the health insurer and maintaining the integrity of the appeals process.

-What should individuals know before filing an appeal? Part III contains information about the administrative and clinical appeals process. The Guide explains the different levels of appeals, as well as the ways in which insurance denials and appeals are broadly categorized and handled. Understanding the different types of denials and appeals procedures can help individuals better understand how the process works and draft a more effective appeal.

-How does mental health parity affect appeals? Part IV explores the landmark Mental Health Parity and Addictions Equity Act of 2008 (MHPAEA), also known as the Federal Parity Law, and explains its significance concerning appeals. The history of the Federal Parity Law and related efforts are discussed, as well as the many ways in which insurance companies have historically failed to fully comply with the law. This section also explains how to assert and prove a parity violation, while leveraging the MPHAEA in appeal letters.

-Preparing an appeal – What’s next? Part V focuses on best practices for drafting an appeal letter and provides appeal advice for the denial classifications identified in Part III of the booklet.

-Final thoughts. Part VI offers some final thoughts on the health insurance appeals process.

-Resources and FAQs. Parts VII and VIII of the booklet provide important resources for appeal writers, including lists of frequently asked questions (FAQs) and additional resources.
