In a recent Fraser Institute report, author and economist Ross McKitrick references a Bjorn Lomborg analysis of US greenhouse gas reduction targets and their likely impact on reducing global warming: “According to Lomborg (2016) the US climate target under the Paris Treaty … [if met]…global average temperatures as of 2100 would be reduced by 0.031° C compared to if the US did nothing. Prorating this by the size of Canada’s proposed emission reduction we find the global average temperature would be reduced by 0.007° C (seven thousandths of a degree Celsius) as of 2100 compared to the case if Canada does nothing”
The UN “People’s Climate Vote 2024” survey from June of 73,000 people in 77 countries claims that “80 per cent – or four out of five – people globally want their governments to take stronger action to tackle the climate crisis.”
Friends of Science Society notes that the UN survey questions on pages 19 and 20, conflate extreme weather with climate and only ask for emotional responses, rather than evaluating empirical evidence. Climate change is measured over 30, 50, 100-year and millennial cycles; it is not evidenced by a spate of extreme weather events.
In Canada, the Globe and Mail published an op-ed by pollster Nik Nanos on Aug. 10, 2024, which showed a waning public interest in the Net Zero transition. “As more and more Canadians feel crushed by the rising cost of things such as housing, groceries and energy, interest in greening their lives is weakening…. the percentage of Canadians who are confident that we will reach our net-zero goal is a paltry 2 per cent.”
Robert Lyman, retired energy economist, wrote a report on the costs of Canada’s climate policies and cited a survey published in Nature, February 2024, found that people would be willing to spend less than 1% of their income to support climate initiatives. One per cent of average Canadian income for climate change would be $431. Canadian climate measures from 2020-2030 are ~$476 billion, or $11,900 per resident of Canada; roughly $2,800 per household per year.
Friends of Science Society points out that survey questions should include “How much are you willing to pay for or sacrifice for climate action?” Friends of Science review of “Getting to Net Zero” forecasts decades of degrowth and poverty.
While most citizens in the NATO countries assume that NATO is most concerned with wartime defense of their nations, the 2024 “NATO Climate Change and Security Impact Assessment” seems obsessed with climate change. On page 27, they dedicate a section to “Energy Transition and Climate-related Disinformation,” claiming that Kremlin-backed actors push climate change denialism. In fact, in Germany, it was Kremlin-backed green activists who encouraged Germany’s heavy reliance on Russian oil and gas and the closure of reliable nuclear facilities, as Drieu Godefridi, author of “The Green Reich” reported in 2022.
Russia’s position on climate change seems unchanged since its 2004 position on Kyoto, forerunner to the Paris Agreement.
Russian climate models, which use a small warming factor for carbon dioxide concentration, consistently closely parallel observed temperatures, compared to Western climate models which use a higher warming response rate for carbon dioxide, and which project a ‘hothouse’ future.
Wars cannot be won on wind and solar power; ample energy security is key to a strong economy, good healthcare, jobs and national defense, says Friends of Science Society.
About Friends of Science Society is an independent group of earth, atmospheric and solar scientists, engineers, and citizens that is celebrating its 22nd year of offering climate science insights. After a thorough review of a broad spectrum of literature on climate change, Friends of Science Society has concluded that the sun is the main driver of climate change, not carbon dioxide (CO2). It’s an opportunity for us to recognize their selflessness and inspire others to follow their example.”
Park Avenue Foundation (PAF) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization rooted in community philanthropy. Through its relationship with Park Avenue Club, the only private club in the nation whose mission is to help multiple human service and cultural organizations, PAF provides essential support to many New Jersey non-profit organizations, which include The Boys and Girls Club of Newark, Boy Scouts of America Patriots’ Path Council, P.G. Chambers School, Community FoodBank of New Jersey, Morris Museum, The Family Resource Network, Museum of Early Trades and Crafts, Camp Nejeda, HartmannRhodes Charities, and The Burgdorff Foundation. JBWS, Morris Habitat for Humanity and Wharton Institute of Performing Arts are designated as non-profit beneficiaries by the Burgdorff Foundation.
Sponsorship options are available. Tickets are now on sale for $275 per person and are available through September 20th at PAFGala.org. The silent auction will be available online to those who cannot attend and would like to support the cause.
Jordan built a successful mentoring community that helped thousands double their income, from $35,000 to $70,000 within months, by transitioning them into tech sales careers. However, his company was destroyed by Ferguson, which led to over $2million in legal fees and a ~$1.5M judgment against him personally, despite never owning assets or setting foot in Washington in his entire life.
Key Findings:
1.Egregious Actions by the AGO: Washington Judge Michael Ryan described Ferguson’s conduct as “egregious, serious, without excuse, and the result of willful disregard…Punitive sanctions are warranted.”
2.Pattern of Corruption: Judge Ryan condemned Ferguson’s pattern further, “[Ferguson] has been sanctioned for similar discovery conduct in the past. Despite the judiciary’s best efforts, [Ferguson] has not learned its lesson. “[Ferguson] has been called out by the Court of Appeals. The situation at present is little more than a continuation of conduct that has plagued the AGO for nearly thirty years.”
3.Intentional Violation of Federal Court Order: Despite a federal court order in Delaware requiring the AG to dismiss and release all parties related to Prehired, including Jordan personally, the AG intentionally violated this order by moving for summary judgment against Jordan and his company within six weeks. Ferguson’s AGO did not deny these actions, because silence in court is better than perjury.
4.Impact on Washington Income and Careers: Ferguson’s actions eliminated career opportunities for thousands, potentially tens of thousands of families over the upcoming years. By shutting down Prehired, the AGO reduced the earning potential of many families, which may have a detrimental effect on the economic growth and stability of the state.
Joshua Jordan remarked, “These court documents confirm a pattern of corruption that has gone unchecked for decades. As a small-town entrepreneur, I never imagined I’d be the one to expose such deep-rooted corruption from across the country. Ferguson’s actions didn’t just destroy my business; they revealed how this office has been abusing its power for years.”
Jordan continued, “I’m not the only one who’s been caught in Bob Ferguson’s crosshairs, but I’m willing to say what others won’t.
As a small-town guy from South Carolina, I’ve made the tough decision to stop doing business in Washington until Ferguson is out of office and the decades of corruption finally come to an end… and I encourage others to do the same.
It’s heartbreaking to see the residents of Washington paying the price through higher taxes and shrinking business and career opportunities.
Instead of targeting small businesses like some kind of organized crime syndicate, the AG should be focusing on real issues like homelessness, crime, and the drug epidemic that are tearing apart the lives of everyday folks in Washington.”
Critical Questions Arising:
Why does the AG’s office appear to target small, out-of-state businesses?
How many Washington residents, often in their 30s and seeking better careers, have been denied opportunities due to Ferguson’s misconduct?
Given this legacy of corruption and destruction throughout his political career, can Bob Ferguson be trusted to lead Washington as governor?
Are we to believe that after a lifetime of corruption, Ferguson will suddenly become the leader Washington needs?
How much worse can things get in Washington? Bob Ferguson seems to say, “Hold my beer.”
In the upcoming weeks, trail partners and waterway stewards will be volunteering at scheduled events across the Valley. Two of these are volunteer groups that have made significant contributions to their respective watersheds.
On September 14, 2024, the Hancock Biological Center teams up with the Kentucky Waterways Alliance for a clean-up day on Kentucky Lake shorelines. The event will include a fish fry lunch sponsored by long-time river volunteer and champion, Captain Bob Cherry. In 2022, Captain Bob made a generous donation to Hancock Biological to help them continue their work with protecting and conserving the river. Kentucky Lake not only serves as a main transportation route, but is home to protected cultural areas and sensitive aquatic habitats. The center serves as a base for research and field learning opportunities.
On the eastern side of the Valley, the Norris Lake Project will be hosting a volunteer service day on September 21. The Norris Lake Project team, an all-volunteer organization has been hosting events for almost twenty consecutive years and has removed over one million pounds of debris from the shorelines. Each year, the group hosts a fall clean-up to pick up litter from camping islands and the debris blown into the water from roadways, private docks, and boats. A special clean-up is held annually in August for incoming University of Tennessee students to learn about sustainable practices on the lake and the dam’s history. Norris Lake is one of the most popular recreational lakes on the Tennessee River system. It is also the first dam built for purpose by the newly formed Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). The dam’s history covers some of the most significant historical events in America.
Norris Lake Project organizer Julie Graham said “If every hiker, biker, and boater would step up as waterway stewards, then the Tennessee River Valley watershed would be building towards a sustainable destination for recreation, community drinking water, and animal habitat. Join our cause in stewarding the Valley.”

Kind Traveler launched Every Stay Gives Back in September 2023 and has raised more than $200,000 in donations for local charities in participating destinations in just 11 months.
Travelers Want Their Travel Dollars to Positively Impact Local Communities
The increasing frequency of climate-related events, such as wildfires and rising sea levels, coupled with a growing awareness of social justice issues, has prompted travelers to seek ways to give back to the communities they visit. According to Kind Traveler’s 2022 Impact Tourism Report, 97 percent of travelers desire their travel dollars to positively impact the communities they visit, and 75 percent believe traveling sustainably enhances their vacation experience. Despite this, half of travelers feel uncertain about how to start, leading to a big gap between intent and action.
“The Every Stay Gives Back program is a natural progression in our commitment to stewardship and sustainability, aiming to enhance the positive impact of travel on our community,” said Visit Oceanside CEO Leslee Gaul. “Research shows that visitors want to support the communities they visit, and this program offers an easy and effortless way to do so while enjoying an unforgettable stay along the beautiful Oceanside coast.”
Local Charity Beneficiaries
Kind Traveler’s Every Stay Gives Back program in Oceanside benefits WILDCOAST and the Berry Good Food Foundation, both essential for the well-being of Oceanside. WILDCOAST is an international team that conserves coastal and marine ecosystems and addresses climate change through natural solutions. A portion of funds raised is earmarked for Oceanside’s Coastal Dunes Restoration Project, which will restore coastal dune habitat using green engineering to help the coastline hang on to sandy resources. The Berry Good Food Foundation’s initiatives include promoting sustainable agriculture, increasing access to healthy food, and supporting local farmers and producers. Together, these organizations work to protect Oceanside’s natural beauty and promote sustainable practices, ensuring a vibrant future for the community and its environment.
Participating Lodging Partners:
Marbella, Beachfront Only Vacation Rentals, and Stay Coastal Vacations are the pioneering lodging partners joining Kind Traveler’s Every Stay Gives Back program with Visit Oceanside, which is dedicated to advancing responsible tourism in Oceanside. This partnership marks a revolutionary step for Kind Traveler as it is the first time they have collaborated with vacation rental management groups, expanding their impact beyond traditional hotels. Marbella offers a luxurious and eco-friendly stay, Beachfront Only provides upscale oceanfront properties with eco-friendly features, and Stay Coastal Vacations offers stylish accommodations focusing on sustainable practices. Based on average annual occupancy rates for Oceanside vacation rental properties, Oceanside’s Kind Traveler program could generate over $17,000 yearly to support local causes. Both Kind Traveler and Visit Oceanside seek to add new lodging partners to the program to unite responsible travel efforts across the City and scale the positive impact potential.
Building Measurable Positive Impact Metrics
The program empowers travel dollars to fund the local charity beneficiaries with every guest stay, aligning with the UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development. Kind Traveler verifies and tracks monthly donations to local charities, providing transparent and real-time reporting to communicate their initiatives effectively to guests and stakeholders.
For example, with Marbella and Stay Coastal Vacations, one dollar per night is donated to WILDCOAST. For every $10 donated, WILDCOAST can restore coastal habitat for one native wildlife creature, advancing ocean and dune conservation efforts in Oceanside. Native wildlife coastal species that play a critical part in Oceanside’s local ecosystem include pelicans, cormorants, egrets, herons, shore crabs, and more.
With Beachfront Only Vacation Rentals, two dollars per stay is donated to the Berry Good Food Foundation. For every $10 donated, the foundation can provide a student with fresh ingredients to participate in a garden-to-table cooking class, promoting healthy food systems and sustainable agriculture in the community.
In the first two months after a soft launch, these initiatives have already directed $2,424 in donations to Berry Good Food Foundation and WILDCOAST. In the soft launch,130 students participated in its garden-to-table cooking class, enhancing Oceanside’s efforts to promote sustainable food systems. With WILDCOAST, the donations restored coastal habitats for 109 native wildlife creatures.
Oceanside: A Commitment to Responsible Tourism
The launch of Love O’side and Kind Traveler’s Every Stay Gives Back program aligns with Visit Oceanside’s Sustainable Tourism Master Plan (STMP), promoting responsible tourism growth to benefit the economy, environment, and local community.
“Travelers require a continual fuel of inspiration to motivate responsible travel choices. Kind Traveler is delighted to provide visitors with an exciting new way to empower their next vacation in Oceanside and help create a powerful legacy of purposeful change,” said Jessica Blotter, Co-Founder & CEO of Kind Traveler.

DALLAS, Aug. 8, 2024 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Data Paradigm, a leading provider of software solutions for nonprofit organizations, is pleased to announce its collaboration with WellSky, a leading health and community care technology and services company, to streamline operations and improve efficiencies for nonprofits across North America.
In 2022, Data Paradigm (DPI) launched its new Ofelia software enterprise system, specializing in providing remote management and direct support of nonprofit constituents, allowing them to seek fulfillment of services through remote means rather than the requirement of an in-person engagement. The flagship implementation of Ofelia was launched by DPI for The Salvation Army (branded SAHelp) earlier this year for operations at the community level.
WellSky’s integrated care coordination technology is an integral part of the SAHelp solution, supporting community organizations in overcoming data sharing and privacy challenges, fostering collaboration, leveraging data analytics, and improving outcomes. Its integrated solutions make WellSky a trusted partner for numerous state, county, and community-based programs addressing social determinants of health and social service needs.
SAHelp’s automation and streamlined processes empower nonprofit organizations by reducing administrative burdens and enabling caseworkers to focus more on direct client engagement. By automating tasks such as paperwork and data entry, SAHelp significantly enhances operational efficiency, leading to cost savings and improved resource allocation. This efficiency not only boosts productivity but also enables nonprofits to scale their impact effectively within their communities.
Moreover, SAHelp’s compliance-driven features ensure organizations maintain adherence to grant and funding regulations, thereby mitigating the risk of penalties and legal consequences. This proactive approach not only protects the financial integrity of nonprofits but also enhances their reputation and eligibility for future funding opportunities.
“We are excited about our collaboration with WellSky to further empower nonprofit organizations in their mission to deliver critical services to those in need,” said Paul Booth, CEO of Data Paradigm. “Our combined expertise will enable organizations to maximize their resources, optimize their operations, and ultimately enhance their ability to serve their communities effectively.”
The integration of the two platforms provides a comprehensive repository of client information, allowing new caseworkers to quickly familiarize themselves with applications, access necessary documents, and seamlessly integrate into organizational workflows. This streamlined process can reduce training time and accelerate caseworker productivity, which can ultimately contribute to improved client support and organizational effectiveness.
“We are excited to deliver a solution that addresses the unique challenges faced by nonprofit organizations by integrating SAHelp’s robust capabilities with WellSky’s industry-leading technology,” said Gabriel Cate, vice president, business development of WellSky. “Together, we are committed to advancing innovation in the nonprofit sector and supporting organizations as they navigate complex operational landscapes.”
The collaboration between Data Paradigm and WellSky underscores a shared commitment to driving positive social impact and empowering nonprofits to achieve their mission more efficiently and effectively.

The report reveals that science and technology research institutes top the list with a median executive compensation of $199,965 in 2022. Health-related nonprofits also rank high, with median compensations of $198,390 for general health and $190,012 for medical research.

Women CEOs are increasingly represented across nonprofits, but major gaps persist in larger organizations. Women continue to dominate leadership in smaller nonprofits, holding 58% of CEO positions in organizations with budgets of $250,000 or less and 61% in those between $250–$500,000. However, a significant gender gap persists in larger nonprofits, where women accounted for only 29% of CEOs in organizations with budgets exceeding $50 million.
