Monster Tree Service Awards Territory in Michigan

Monster Tree Service, the nation’s first and fastest-growing tree service franchise, is expanding into Michigan. Recently featured by SUCCESS magazine, Thrive Global, and Franchise Times, the Monster Tree Service franchise continues to build on its rapid three-year franchise system growth.

Business entrepreneur Michael Porter has purchased the rights to a Monster Tree Service Territory in Ann Arbor, Michigan, covering Pinckney, South Lyon, Brighton, Ann Arbor and surrounding areas. Porter is already getting down to business with a unique marketing strategy that combines his entrepreneurial ambitions with his passion for University of Michigan football.

Porter sponsors a 30-minute weekly segment called the “Monster Moment of the Game” on Sports Talk radio 1050 AM, which covers Michigan Wolverines football. A lifelong Michigan fan, Mike gets to talk about his business and big plays of the game, every week. The show is fun and profitable for Porter!

“I’ve done work for the head coach, Jim Harbaugh, and other local celebrities,” says Porter. “I routinely get calls from fellow Michigan fans who heard me on the radio and need work done on their properties. After we schedule their Monster Tree Service work, we’ll talk football. It’s a great way to connect with the community.”

Josh Skolnick, CEO and Founder of Monster Tree Service, is confident that Porter will be a tremendous asset to the Monster Tree Service franchise.

“Michael is a perfect fit for the Monster Tree Service brand,” says Skolnick. “His deep understanding of business, incredible work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit makes him a great addition to our team. I can’t wait to see his growth in the coming years.”

Monster Tree Service is the only franchise tree company capitalizing on the under-served $17 billion tree service industry. Monster Tree Service has achieved consistent year-over-year, 5 percent growth since 2009, resulting in a $10+ million business. Because it’s a high-upside opportunity, and a recession-proof business, Monster Tree Service expects to achieve $100 million in sales by 2021.

“There are almost 100 lakes around Ann Arbor,” says Porter. “We specialize in big tree removals on lake properties. The homes are so tightly packed along the lakefronts that we routinely bring in a crane and lift the tree right over the home. We even did one tree removal by kayak! It can be very challenging, but we have a team of professionals with the knowledge and experience to deal with this unique concern in our community. We are also excited to offer our wide array of services, including, plant health care, tree and shrub pruning and more.”

Wayback Burgers Ranks in List of Largest U.S. Franchise Systems

Wayback Burgers, America’s favorite hometown burger joint and one of the nation’s fastest-growing burger franchises has been named to the Franchise Times Top 200+, a comprehensive ranking of the 500 largest U.S. franchise systems. Within that list, Wayback Burgers is one of the top 200 restaurant chains in the country.

The Top 200+ is a revenue-driven ranking, based on hard numbers — specifically, global systemwide sales from the previous year. Wayback Burgers made the list at number 395 out of 500 franchise systems, with $57,430,120 in system sales last year. Franchise Times details its methodology, which involves a five-month research process, here.

The list of 500 biggest franchises covers the full spectrum of industries and business segments, with 200 restaurant brands making the cut — putting Wayback Burgers within the top 200 U.S. franchise restaurant systems in America.

“Our brand is competitive with the best of the best franchises in any industry, and especially within foodservice,” Chemero said. “Sales numbers tell the same story our customers have been telling since our first location opened in 1991. And while we are proud to be ranked on this list, we continue to work with our franchise owners to rise higher and higher.”

National Social Security Advisor Certificate Education Classes Set for 10 U.S. Cities in 2020

News Image

Professional advisors engage in an NSSA Social Security education certificate program.

The NSSA program has become an industry standard that signals to colleagues and clients that you are able to provide them with thoughtful, strategic and expert advice on how to maximize Social Security benefits.

National Social Security Advisor (NSSA®) certificate education classes for professional advisors will be offered in 10 cities nationwide in 2020, double the number of classes offered in 2019.

The nation’s only accredited Social Security education certificate program will also expand to 15 webinars offered during the year, said Marc Kiner, partner with Premier Social Security Consulting in Cincinnati, which teaches the courses.

The live 2020 NSSA classroom schedule is: Ft. Lauderdale on Jan. 16; Cincinnati on Jan. 31; March 31; June 23; Sept. 16; and Dec. 7; Orlando, Fla. on March 10; San Antonio, Tex., on April 30; Atlanta, Ga., on June 2; Chicago on June 25; Cleveland, July 20; at the F.D.R. Museum in Hyde Park, Pa., Sept. 21; and in New York City, Sept. 23.

Webinars will be held Jan. 13 and 29; Feb. 18; March 2 and 26; April 6; May 4; June 18; July 23; August 20; Sept. 14; Oct. 19; Nov. 16; and Dec. 10 and 21.

All live and webinar NSSA education programming runs from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“We’re a big proponent of Situational Social Security,” said Kiner. “Every retiree has a unique situation in life—whether it’s being married, divorced, widowed, a retiree, a minor child, veteran or public employee. No matter what situation our NSSA advisors come across with their clients, we can help.”

NSSA’s accreditation is provided by the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE) in Washington, D.C. Professional advisors who typically enroll in the courses include CPAs; financial advisors; attorneys; insurance agents and enrolled agents.

The NSSA certificate is awarded to advisors who take the NSSA course and pass an assessment. The National Social Security Association has awarded more than 2,000 NSSA certificates since the program began in 2013.

“The NSSA program has become an industry standard that signals to colleagues and clients that you are able to provide them with thoughtful, strategic and expert advice on how to maximize Social Security benefits,” said Kiner.

The U.S. has an estimated 76 million baby boomers, nearly 20 percent of the nation’s population. Ten thousand boomers reach the full retirement age of 65 each day nationwide, said Jim Blair, Premier partner.

“That’s why we increased the number of NSSA classes in 2020 and anticipate growing the number of NSSA certificate holders by 25 percent,” he said. “It’s estimated that about 90 percent of American retirees nationwide don’t maximize their Social Security income; in this age of increased longevity and longer retirements, we want to help retirees make certain they don’t outlive their money.”

Kiner had a 39-year career as a certified public accountant and CPA business owner. Blair has 35 years of experience as a career Social Security employee and manager with the Piqua, Ohio, Social Security office.

Premier offers the NSSA Social Security education certificate program in live, all-day classes and web-based training workshops where students can participate in a live, one-day program with an NSSA instructor; and in 19-module, video-based, on-demand courses taught by NSSA instructors. On-demand students can complete workshop lectures and activities on their own time.

NSSA certificate holders receive ongoing support and resources throughout the year. Ongoing support includes questions answered and monthly webinars. The webinars help NSSA certificate holders maintain Social Security knowledge and keep up to date.

Eight continuing education credits are awarded for live classroom attendees.

Premier also offers private, on-site classes for organizations that need to provide in-house

Social Security training to multiple professional advisors.

For a complete list of services and prices, visit the NSSA options page.

“We’ve found that professional advisors, like the rest of us, are increasingly pressed for time,” said Kiner. “More advisors are choosing the all-day webinar option and on-demand videos over the live classroom. The live classes, webinars and on-demand videos all have the same content. Advisors who choose webinars and on-demand options can learn and expand their expertise in the Social Security program in the privacy of a company conference room or the comfort of a home office.”

More financial advisors are basing their practices on the needs of baby boomers, said Blair. Premier now offers by subscription a Social Security Help Centers™ internet-based, lead generation tool for professional advisors.

Premier also has a strategic partnership with Social Security Pro, which offers professional advisors a Social Security benefits calculation tool. The extensively researched and patented Social Security Pro software program is a web-based tool that can run clients’ Social Security calculations for them, said Kiner.

“People always need Social Security education,” said Blair. “It’s a complicated subject and if you don’t keep up with it, you tend to forget it. That’s why we continually review information with our NSSA advisor clients with ongoing support and keep them up to date on any new changes.

“Everything we do at Premier is aimed at educating professional advisors about the Social Security program so they can provide wise counsel to their clients on how to maximize Social Security.”

A Refreshing Unfiltered Podcast Focused on The World of Work Launching Soon on November 4th

Our overall goal is to help our listeners think, learn, and maybe even laugh a little.

The management consulting firm Indigo Anchor today announced the scheduled launch of The Indigo Podcast, which is set to launch on Apple Podcasts and other podcast streaming platforms Nov. 4, 2019. The Indigo Podcast will offer proven tools in the areas of management, leadership, human resources, organizational behavior, dealing with change, organizational culture, hiring, process improvement, organizational agility, and related topics in a refreshing, irreverent format.

The podcast will feature co-hosts Ben Baran—co-founder and principal of Indigo Anchor, assistant professor of management at Cleveland State University, and commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve—and Chris Everett, co-founder and principal of Indigo Anchor, longtime management consultant and business owner, and officer in the U.S. Army National Guard.

“When we started Indigo Anchor in 2018, we knew we would be a different kind of management consulting firm,” said Everett. “We would not be interested in fancy suits, not interested in churning out reports that were unhinged from real change. Nor would we be interested in peddling the latest organizational pop psychology. Outside of our consulting practice, we wanted to offer our thought leadership as an engaging self-help option and a place for community. Given that many of our clients are podcast listeners, we thought it would be a good format.”

“Our style is rather different from many of the business, management, or leadership podcasts that currently exist,” said Baran. “Most notably, we recognize that the world is messy and that solutions often require a nuanced view of reality. Most of life does not lend itself to lists of easy steps to follow or ‘silver bullets’ that fix everything. Our conversations, therefore, are relatively in-depth. And while we often provide perspectives and evidence-based ideas that our listeners will find immediately useful, our overall goal is to help our listeners think, learn, and maybe even laugh a little.”

The Indigo Podcast will bring a unique spin to the category of business podcasts by:

  • providing an antidote or counterpoint to the ever-increasing overly simplistic reductionist approaches to work and life
  • bridging the gap between social science and management practice
  • promoting the flourishing of people and organizations
  • feeding the curiosity of people who want to make the world a better place through work
  • inspiring listeners to become lifelong learners and bold difference-makers

The Indigo Podcast will be available starting Nov. 4, 2019 on iTunes/Apple Podcasts, Spotify, GooglePlay, Stitcher, TuneIn, and Castbox.

Kathy Wang, Chief Information Security Officer at FullStory

With Kathy Wang as our new CISO, FullStory has a security expert ready to stand vigilant as a stalwart leader over this most critical function.

Digital experience software company FullStory has announced Kathy Wang as the company’s Chief Information Security Officer.

Bruce Johnson, co-founder and chief product officer, shares, “Today thousands of customers trust FullStory with their digital experience data. As stewards of this information, we are responsible for weaving security into every part of our infrastructure, from our software to our vendors—and into the fabric of our company culture. With Kathy Wang as our new CISO, FullStory has a security expert ready to stand vigilant as a stalwart leader over this most critical function.”

Wang is an internationally-recognized malware expert, having researched, developed, evaluated, and operationalized solutions for detecting and preventing client-side attacks used by advanced persistent threats (or APT) as they target common digital platforms. Wang brings digital security expertise accumulated over 20 years, most recently from her time at GitLab. As a leader and advisor in the security space, Wang’s insights have been shared through speaking engagements and panels at events such as RSA, DEFCON, AusCERT, and REcon. Kathy was also a co-author of Beautiful Security, an anthology about information security innovation.

On behalf of thousands of e-commerce and SaaS customers globally, FullStory stores and organizes digital experience data generated on websites and apps. The platform offers proactive detection of revenue-impacting customer experience problems as well as experience-based analytics and robust search and segmentation. These quantitative capabilities combine with FullStory’s qualitative tools, including heatmaps and session replay, to solve formerly intractable digital experience problems.

Earlier this year, FullStory successfully achieved SOC 2 Type II compliance. Wang will lead FullStory’s team of security engineers as they further bolster security initiatives at the company.
