UES Joins Schoox for Session on Rethinking Compliance Training

David Wentworth, vice president and talent platform evangelist at Schoox and Beth Scheitzach, director of training and development at UES (formerly Universal Engineering Sciences), discuss how UES’s approach to compliance training drives improved outcomes for their organization and benefits the careers of their employees.

In this webinar, attendees will be encouraged to rethink their compliance training to better:

  • Engage all learners.
  • Highlight the value of compliance.
  • Measure and track to better inform stakeholders.
  • Think in terms of outcomes and results rather than sanctions and penalties.
  • Build compliance into career paths.

Failure to execute this learning successfully could result in anything from dangerous working conditions to a work stoppage and potential loss of business. Yet, despite its reach and severe potential consequences, many organizations struggle to make compliance training an engaging and strategic experience. This session will help attendees take the first steps toward change.

Washington County Turns to Natural Language Processing (NLP) Platform Augintel to Improve Efficiency and Help Connect Family Members

The Augintel platform will enhance caseworker practice at Washington County by quickly identifying service needs of families and reducing administrative burden on casework staff, who are facing larger caseloads due to staff turnover. Augintel will enable caseworkers to quickly understand a family’s case history and whether a natural support system is already available within a family. Initial use cases will include understanding long standing risk factors, supporting family finding efforts, and presenting safety threats such as weapons not being properly stored in the home. Augintel will also support child welfare leadership by allowing for real time quality assurance.

Augintel has already enabled statewide child welfare organizations to realize a reduction in administrative burden by an estimated 20%.

“We are so excited to provide our staff with this tool that will save notable time, particularly as our staff are stretched thin juggling multiple roles at once,” said Anne Schlegel, Director of Washington County Children & Youth Services. “It was such an easy decision for us to make. The time it took us from discovering the tool to implementation was minimal, and the integration with CAPS was simple. We hope to be on the forefront of helping bring this tool to other counties throughout the state, so they too can more easily access information that is deeply embedded across thousands of pages of case notes.”

“We look forward to helping caseworkers and supervisors at Washington County use our NLP technology to address these longstanding problems related to documentation and case notes,” said Marty Elisco, CEO of Augintel. “Through this, we believe we will help them save time and make it easier to gain an understanding of the children and families they care for. As we work with more and more counties across Pennsylvania, we are excited to help each of them gain more value from the data they collect.”

About Augintel: Augintel is a health and human services-focused software development company focused on solving longstanding problems with data – specifically, narrative unstructured data. Augintel has pioneered the development of natural language processing (NLP) in HHS to make narrative data accessible, searchable and actionable for staff across the organization – from front line clinicians to supervisors, quality managers and leaders. Augintel understands that NLP products are field-specific and must be built from the ground up and tailored to specific practices in order to be successful.

Rose-Hulman Ranked Top 20 Nationally in Wall Street Journal’s 2024 Best Colleges in America

In the Wall Street Journal 2024 Best Colleges subcategories, Rose-Hulman earned No. 1 rankings in both learning opportunities and learning facilities, with students specifically citing interactions with faculty, collaboration with other students, available campus workspaces, and satisfaction with physical classroom/teaching spaces. Rose-Hulman ranked second in the nation in the likelihood of students recommending the college to others, and fourth in career preparation.

Rose-Hulman also earned the No. 1 ranking in undergraduate engineering for the 25th consecutive year in U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 Best College Guide. The ranking comes from an annual survey of college engineering deans and senior faculty across America.

In response to these recent rankings, President Robert A. Coons stated, “At Rose-Hulman, we believe that a high-quality, immersive, and engaging educational environment with state-of-the-art laboratories and research facilities is paramount to our longstanding commitment to inspiring and preparing our students for lives of purpose and success. Our internship and co-op program provides our students with the opportunity to gain valuable real-world experience and build professional connections. By their junior year, 90% of our students have had at least one internship, co-op, or research experience. Our impressive placement rate of over 98% for the entire graduating class has been consistent for the last two decades.”

The President continued, “We believe that a strong return on investment is achieved through the combination of our high-quality education, cutting-edge facilities, and exceptional career opportunities. These elements inspire our students to achieve their maximum potential and turn their dreams into reality.”

Experiences by senior chemical engineering major Courtney Valmore were cited by the Wall Street Journal. She has benefitted from summer internships with Procter & Gamble, Eli Lilly and Company and Endress+Hauser, strong relationships with campus faculty and staff members, Rose-Hulman’s alumni network, and student leadership roles to earn multiple career opportunities – even before beginning her last year at Rose-Hulman.

“It’s been a lot of hard work, but Rose-Hulman has set me up for the future, and I’m not the only student who can attest to that fact. Coming here (from Indianapolis) has been everything that I thought it would be,” said Valmore, who is a Noblitt Scholar who is serving her third year as Student Government Association president. “Rose-Hulman is so accommodating to its students. They want to see them succeed.”

An example, according to Valmore, is how the college created a special two-hour convocation period, with no classes or laboratory sessions, during the fall quarter academic quarter – providing an opportunity for all students to attend the Office of Career Services’ Fall Career Fair. A total of 283 companies attended last year’s event and even more are expected to fill the Sports and Recreation Center’s fieldhouse on September 27.

Also, alumni helped make internship opportunities available for Valmore and other students.

“Rose’s alumni network is incredible and so valuable,” said Valmore.

Rankings for the Wall Street Journal’s America’s Best College 2024 guide resulted from one of the largest ever independent surveys of college students in the U.S., with more than 60,000 undergraduates and recent undergraduate alumni. They provided feedback to College Pulse on colleges that are a great value in terms of tuition, learning environment, degree completion, and the likelihood of a higher salary after graduation.

transcosmos holds an experiential event for the children of its employees at MCM Center Naha

In addition to the fun event for children, the company also offers a technology experiential learning session towards achieving the SDGs

TOKYO, Sept. 21, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — transcosmos inc. hereby announces that the company held an experiential event for the children of its employees at its MCM Center Naha on Sunday, August 20, 2023. The purpose of the event was to create an opportunity for children to learn about the company and the society where their parents work, and to foster parent-child communication. In addition, transcosmos also offered opportunities for children to learn new technologies, letting them go through the metaverse as well as 3DCG experiential learning sessions. Through bringing these opportunities to experience new technologies both to its employees and their children, transcosmos encourages working parents to strike a good balance between work and parenting, and also helps develop the next generation of young talent. Ultimately, transcosmos aims to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Goal 4 Quality Education and Goal 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth.

1. Experiential Event at MCM Center Naha Overview
Summer Festival – Learn about the SDGs through games and experimental events –
Date: Sunday, August 20, 2023

  • 3DCG experiential learning area (avatar creation, 3DCG lecture, metaverse experience)
  • Play area (riddle-solving & brain training, Kendama – Japanese cup & ball, picture-story show & reading, bottle up game, goldfish & water balloon scooping)
  • Creative area (wind-bell making, plastic sheet crafting, coloring & bookmark making, reuse art)

With the aim of increasing parent-children communication opportunities, transcosmos also carried out a workplace tour to let children understand what their parents do at work, thereby encouraging family conversations.

2. About experiential learning towards achieving the SDGs
The event was part of transcosmos’s initiative towards bringing a bright future for children through an experiential technology learning workshop for families.
Through this initiative, transcosmos not only explains about new technologies, but also communicates the fun and the potential they bring, and lets the children experience some of the technologies hands-on. By offering opportunities for children to expand their imagination and technology skills, transcosmos helps open up future possibilities for children.
For the experiential event at MCM Center Naha, transcosmos invited Masashi Umehara, the president of transcosmos’s service partner Lead U,LLC., and a popular 3DCG lecturer for the Avatar Creation Experience, 3DCG Lecture and the Metaverse Experience sessions. Through conveying not only the technology itself but also the fun the metaverse and 3DCG bring, as well as making children go through the process of creating the metaverse not as a game but as a professional work, transcosmos offered an opportunity for children to discover new possibilities.
In the metaverse world – the theme of the learning session – everyone can choose and be the one they wish to be through an avatar, which enables everyone to act going beyond their gender, age and challenges. In other words, the metaverse world lowers the bar for people who keep a distance from society and personal relationships due to diverse reasons including their physical or mental conditions to engage in social activities. transcosmos believes that this will lead to achieving the SDGs Goal 10 Reduce inequality within and among countries.

3. Future plans
In addition to the experiential learning sessions, transcosmos will continue to work on bringing a sustainable future society through planning and offering a diverse range of seminars, online school programs, and events in collaboration with its partners on the themes of a range of technologies that transcosmos promotes, in particular AI.
