As families across America get together for the holidays, many will discover it’s time for an aging parent or other senior relative to move to a senior living community for increased care and/or socialization. To help them research their options, Caring.com — the nation’s leading website for senior living reviews and a highly-regarded senior care referral service — today announced its annual list of the best senior living communities, the Caring Stars of 2020.

Originally published in 2012 as the first of its kind, Caring Stars has since become the go-to guide highlighting service excellence at senior living communities based on consumer ratings and reviews. For 2020, there are 149 highly-rated communities in 36 states that stand out in the top 1% of senior living providers nationwide.

“We know it can be overwhelming and time-consuming to find the best senior living community for a loved one, particularly if the need is urgent and you have little knowledge of your options,” said Caring.com’s CEO, Jim Rosenthal. “The testimonials in our high-integrity consumer reviews program support the search and selection process. The Caring Stars guide is one of several ways we ease the burden of family caregivers and seniors nationwide.”

Caring.com’s data shows that the Caring Stars annual list helps seniors and their families quickly and easily identify those senior living communities best poised to meet their needs — with these top-rated communities attracting twice as many new resident inquiries and move-ins on average than Caring.com’s community partners without the award.

To be considered for this distinguished list, Caring Stars 2020 communities met a rigorous set of criteria, including but not limited to: having 10 or more reviews, an overall average rating of 4.5 stars or higher, 3 or more new reviews within the qualification time frame (one of those being a 5-star review), and more. Caring.com senior care experts also conducted a reviews-integrity audit and took other quality-assurance measures before determining the Caring Stars of 2020.

“Congratulations to these highly-rated communities for achieving such significant praise from their customers in online reviews,” Rosenthal said. “They stand out as among the best in the nation for 2020.”

The Caring Stars recognition can be earned by any licensed senior living community with a profile in Caring.com’s nationwide directory. All qualifying consumer reviews are fully visible to anyone on the web.
