capracare, a trusted community organization whose humanitarian efforts relieved over 20,000 people in need during the 2021 Haiti earthquake, today announced its inaugural “Honoring Courage” charity benefit. The in-person event will commence on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at New York Mets’ Clubhouse, Citi Field, 123-01 Roosevelt Ave, Queens, NY 11368; at 2:30 pm EST. Honoring Courage will celebrate the Haitian people and the many New Yorkers who demonstrated incredible courage in the wake of the 2021 Haiti earthquake.

The 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck the southern peninsula of Haiti and left, thousands injured or dead. In addition, many hospitals, schools, and homes were destroyed, leaving the people of Fonfrède and the greater Les Cayes homeless.

Without haste, elected officials from around the world and fellow New Yorkers showed an outpouring support to provide capracare with the resources needed to deploy emergency relief, medical and mental health support to the region through mobile units.

The Honoring Courage charity event will be supported by capracare’s most prominent visionaries– all of whom embody the driven and generous spirit championed through capracare’s programs. In addition, the New York Mets will honor capracare in a special on-field pregame when they take on the Atlanta Braves. As part of the pregame ceremony, the United Jewish Appeal– Federation of New York (UJA) will be recognized for its commitment to the Haitian people and capracare’s mission. capracare Ambassadors, Maxine Cesar, Miss Grand New York 2022, and singer/songwriter Demi Dabady will emcee the event.
