I knew the pain was a result of stress, I was clenching my teeth at night and I needed to do something about it.

Bravrr Inc., a company dedicated to the development of wearable diagnostic and digital therapeutic technologies for clinicians and patients, secured funding from two venture capital firms (SOSV and Greater Colorado Venture Fund) for BruxRelief, a general wellness device that helps combat the painful symptoms of stress. The funding will allow Bravrr to continue developing the capabilities of the BruxRelief device and expand deeper into the dental and medical markets.

Stress manifests itself in mysterious ways! Migraines, tension headaches, sore jaws, dizziness, and ringing in one’s ears… all symptoms of stress and a little known behavioral disorder called Bruxism that affects millions of Americans.

Studies indicate that bruxism (unconscious teeth clenching and grinding) affects 33% to as high as 85% of the population to varying degrees and that 70% of bruxism is caused by stress. Bruxism causes pain as well as costly cosmetic and functional damage to one’s teeth such as tooth abrasion, broken teeth, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder. Furthermore, bruxism’s constant sleep disruptions lead to additional symptoms of lethargy throughout the day, depression, and anxiety.

The painful effects of stress and bruxism are something the founder of Bravrr Inc., Brock Predovich, knows all too well. Four years ago, Predovich encountered several traumatic events (motorcycle accident, dengue fever, ruptured spine and back surgery) within a four-month timeframe. These events left him completely stressed out, and that’s when he started waking up each morning with a pain in his jaw and a migraine.

“It was such a crazy period of my life”, said Predovich, former Air Force Behavioral Scientist turned entrepreneur. “With so many things happening at once I was constantly worried about what would happen next. Waking up in so much pain each day was like an alarm for me… I knew the pain was a result of stress, I was clenching my teeth at night and I needed to do something about it.”

Predovich went on to develop a wearable headband device, BruxRelief, that would allow him to track and alert him of his clenching and grinding behaviors during the day and night. This feedback allowed him to pinpoint the moment in which stress manifested in clenching and grinding so that he could take steps to reduce his stress and stop these painful behaviors.

Early this year, Bravrr Inc. launched BruxRelief within the dental industry with great reviews and was featured on the cover of Dental Products Report, a prominent dental industry magazine.

“Times like these reveal the painful impact stress can have on our lives”, said Predovich. With the coronavirus pandemic, people isolated in their homes, financial struggles, fear, and recent unrest, stress is at an all-time high! BruxRelief provides clinicians and patients an easy way to assess bruxism behavior, seek treatment, and take action to reduce stress and the painful symptoms that come with it
