Brain Power Wellness, a holistic, school-based wellness organization, recently traveled to Turks and Caicos for three days. While there, team members taught BPW’s Teacher Workshop to 20 teachers from three different schools.
In addition, Brain Power Wellness trainers conducted classroom visits at three schools — two elementary schools and one high school. The team at Brain Power Wellness was given the “most behaviorally challenged” classrooms to visit, but it would have been hard to know this, as the students were engaged and enthusiastic, and their behavior was exceptional.
In fact, Brain Power Wellness reviews how excited and focused the students were when they engaged with the “energy ball visualization”. It appeared to be a very natural activity for them and one they could easily relate to and enjoy.
The Brain Power Wellness retreat to Turks and Caicos occurred from May 31 through June 3. The purpose was to offer the organization’s services to a new population, a partnership that Brain Power Wellness had dreamed of for over two years.
The schools that the organization visited — Ona Glinton Primary, Eliza Simons Primary, and Robinson High School — wanted Brain Power Wellness instructors to help students primarily with their focus as well as team-building and mindfulness exercises.
During one particular instance, a student typically known for his lack of focus remained fully engaged throughout the entire time.
Teachers at the three schools reported feeling stressed and tired, especially after the global pandemic. Recognizing this, the Brain Power Wellness team introduced the teachers to self-care tools and provided a productive and relaxing experience to help alleviate their stress and fatigue. For instance, introducing activities such as the balloon order challenge, compliment game, and core power memory game. These activities allowed the teachers at the three schools to deepen their relationships with each other, while also feeling rejuvenated and inspired to return to teaching.
“Being able to teach at the Turks and Caicos was such a beautiful experience, and I felt the impact Brain Power Wellness has had on the students as they demonstrated their respect by standing up and thanking the instructors in a profound and meaningful way after every class visit,” said Emily Taveras, a Brain Power Wellness Trainer and Field Coordinator.
“One can tell how passionate and driven the educators of Grand Turk are. They extended an invitation to the Brain Power Wellness team to help further their sense of community and mindfulness.”
The Brain Power Wellness trip to Turks and Caicos exemplifies the teams’ role as global citizens. They are expanding to states and countries worldwide, hoping to bring the powerful tools and practices it has created.
Brain Power Wellness leaders believe that the program works for anyone willing to engage in the exercises and deeper meaning of the philosophy of wellness and joy, wherever they may live.
