Boulder iQ’s expansive new space houses the company’s sterilization service, key to development and marketing of critical medical devices.

Boulder iQ has completed its move to new facilities in Boulder, tripling its space in the process.

Boulder iQ is an expert contract consulting firm offering design engineering, development and turnkey manufacturing for consumer, high-technology and medical products, and complete regulatory, clinical and quality compliance services for medical device and in vitro diagnostic companies.

The company had occupied 3,500 square feet at 2840 Wilderness Place in Boulder. Its new facility, at 5421 Western Avenue, provides 11,000 square feet of space for the fast-growing company. Boulder iQ is using the additional space for assembly, packaging and product testing, a machine shop, rapid-prototyping equipment, and an expanded cleanroom. A 1,000-square-foot cleanroom, with room to expand to 2000 square feet, will replace the 100-square-foot facility in its current location.

The space is also housing Boulder iQ’s new sterilization service. In response to a shortage of safe, effective sterilization services used in the development of medical devices, the company has begun to offer ethylene oxide (EO) sterilization services for medical device manufacturers.

“The new space will allow Boulder iQ to execute even more quickly and comprehensively on its commitment to serve as a full-service partner for medical device companies,” says Jim Kasic, president and CEO. He cites Boulder iQ’s ability to provide product design, development, assembly, packaging – and now, sterilization – under one roof. “Assisting from prototype to production, we know we are doing the right thing in helping businesses get their products to market, and to patients, more effectively and efficiently.”

Retaining all operations in Boulder was a key priority for Boulder iQ in the move to new facilities, says Kasic. “We are committed to supporting the strong Colorado medical device community, and to providing needed access and expertise to help our clients succeed.”

Boulder iQ also places great importance on its relationships with the University of Colorado, he says. Along with the university providing an excellent pool for talented employees, Kasic serves as a coach and mentor for Venture Partners at CU Boulder, and a Constituency Committee member for the Department of Bioengineering at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado. Peggy Fasano, Boulder iQ’s chief operating officer, is a member of the school’s advisory council for the Deming Center Venture Fund.
