Benchmark, the largest senior housing provider in New England, today announced that it was certified as a Great Place To Work for the fifth straight year and ranked 17th nationally as a Best Workplaces in Aging Services by FORTUNE magazine.
More than 4,400 Benchmark employees completed the Great Place to Work survey, the results of which determined recertification and a spot on FORTUNE’s list of large senior housing and care providers with more than 1,000 employees.
“It’s our dedicated and compassionate associates who make Benchmark such a special place to work – a great place to work. They have created a welcoming and supportive environment for each other and, of course, for our residents,” said Tom Grape, founder, chairman and CEO of Benchmark. “Benchmark remains committed to an employee experience that values and recognizes everyone’s contributions, while also providing them the resources necessary to grow professionally and within Benchmark.”
The Great Place to Work survey gauges employees’ perceptions in five areas – pride, respect, credibility, fairness and camaraderie – with employee engagement and culture being critical criteria. The level of trust felt toward company leaders, pride taken in their jobs and camaraderie experienced with co-workers are all considered.
In addition to offering a wide range of benefits, inclusion, incentive, recognition and associate appreciation programs, Benchmark is known for its many career development opportunities provided by Benchmark University. The Benchmark One Company Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization, is there for associates in times of need when they can’t purchase the necessities of life or meet the contingencies created by an emergency.
This award is one of many accolades Benchmark has received this year and since its inception. Earlier this year, its communities received 53 U.S. News & World Report Best Independent Living, Best Assisted Living and Best Memory Care awards in its inaugural Best Senior Living 2022-2023 excellence program. Since 1997, the company has won over 200 local, regional and national awards for its care, programs and as a top workplace. Among them is the Boston Globe’s Top Places to Work employee-based survey for 14 straight years.
