Everyday S/Heroes

It’s important to get the JustMarried project released before the 2024 election in time to inspire voters to get out and help maintain this precious right.

GoodDoxie Studios is pleased to announce the development of The JustMarried project, an 8-part documentary series, book and podcast. JustMarried is a project designed to preserve the love stories and legacy behind one of the greatest civil rights victories in history – Marriage Equality.

These couples’ stories changed the compassion and consciousness of our nation, and these stories can reach into more hearts for decades to come.

Many of the couples they interviewed said the same thing over and over, “We had no role models to help us.” This series is chock full of s/heroes and role models enabling and encouraging future generations to be vigilant in protecting what is now their right to dignity and their rights under the law. These real-life representations of lasting relationships and enduring love are powerful and something we can all agree is more important than ever.

Several individuals and couples that are part of the JustMarried project are well known names, including Edie Winsor and Jim Obergefell, but not many people are aware of the more than 18+ additional plaintiffs with equally heart swelling stories of strength and inspiration. This project is designed to ensure that ALL of their stories and their legacies are preserved for future generations, along with the law.

The team leading the JustMarried project fundamentally believe that now and for the 2024 election cycle, winning hearts and minds of the public is critical for gaining true marriage equality for LGBTQ+ people in America and they hope our documentary can help that cause. Most married LGBTQ+ couples don’t know that the recent Respect for Marriage Act only truly protects couples in the 21 states that don’t have trigger laws on the books. Clarence Thomas is gunning to overturn Obergefell v. Hodges and has asked out loud for attorney generals across the country to bring SCOTUS cases that will help overturn the law, sending marriage rights back to the states.

The goals of this fundraising portion of the JustMarried project are to help the team start filming and increase the level of support for the documentary. This will also show streaming services and advertisers how important the issue of marriage equality is to the LGBTQ+ community and beyond. They are also looking for partnerships with major LGBTQ+ organizations which can help their team to amplify this project and their mutual goals.
