The Christian Kings of the Middle East

https://www.prweb.com/

Dr Joseph Kechichian

“Imagine kings addicted to poetry, imagine a middle east a lot more tolerant and inclusive 1,500 years ago, imagine a kingdom were women were appreciated and respected…”

“The Christian Kings of the Middle East”, tells the history of the mighty Ghassanid Kings since their departure from Yemen in biblical times.

“The Christian Kings of the Middle East” – the Middle East had a long reigning mighty Christian Arab dynasty that flourished until very recently. The Ghassanid Kings ruled several Middle Eastern regions, from 220 CE until the mid-18th century, a duration of over 1500 years. As the oldest active Christian Royal House in the world, they ruled over the largest territory for the longest period; more than any other Arab Dynasty. Sadly, there is very little information about those facts, especially in English, since ‘Christian” and ‘Arab” is a forbidden combination. Or, as Sir Winston Churchill wisely said: “History is written by the victors”.

The film has the special participation of one of the indisputable world leading scholars in Middle Eastern Royal Succession, Dr Joseph Albert Kéchichian. He has received his doctorate in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia in 1985, where he also taught (1986-1988), and assumed the assistant deanship in international studies (1988-1989). In the 1989, he was a Hoover Fellow at Stanford University(under the U.S. State Department Title VIII Program). Between 1990 and 1996, he labored at the Santa Monica-based RAND Corporation as an Associate Political Scientist, and was a lecturer at the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA).Between 1998 and 2001, Dr Kéchichian was a fellow at UCLA’s Gustav E. von Grunebaum Center for Near Eastern Studies, where he held a Smith Richardson Foundation grant (1998-1999) to compose Succession in Saudi Arabia (New York: Palgrave [2001]) and Beirut and London: Dar Al Saqi, 2002, 2003 [2nd ed] (for the Arabic translation)]. He published Political Participation and Stability in the Sultanate of Oman, Dubai: Gulf Research Center, 2005, Oman and the World: The Emergence of an Independent Foreign Policy (Santa Monica: RAND [1995]), and edited A Century in Thirty Years: Shaykh Zayed and the United Arab Emirates(Washington, D.C.: The Middle East Policy Council [2000]), as well as Iran, Iraq, and the Arab Gulf States (New York: Palgrave [2001]). In 2003, he co-authored, with R. Hrair Dekmejian at USC, The Just Prince: A Manual of Leadership (London: Saqi Books), which includes a full translation of the Sulwan al-Muta` by Muhammad Ibn Zafar al-Siqilli. In 2008, he published two studies, Power and Succession in Arab Monarchies(Boulder, Colorado: Lynne Rienner Publishers, and Beirut: Riyad al-Rayyes Books, 2012—in 2 volumes for the Arabic translation]), and Faysal: Saudi Arabia’s King for All Seasons Gainesville, Florida: University Press of Florida and Beirut: Dar al-‘Arabiyyah lil-Mawsu‘at, 2012]. Also wrote Legal and Political Reforms in Saudi Arabia, published by Routledge in December 2012, and a companion volume to Faysal on ‘Iffat Al Thunayan: An Arabian Queen (London: Sussex Academic Press, 2015).

The documentary also has the participation of: His Most Reverend Paul Youssef Matar, the Maronite Archbishop of Beirut and the chancellor of Collège de la Sagesse and La Sagesse University in Beirut, Lebanon; His Excellency Michel Nahas, Lebanese Army General, Mr. Boutros Duaihy, descendant and expert on the life and works of the Maronite Patriarch Estephan El Douaihy (1670-1704 CE) great historian of the XVII Century and in process of becoming a saint; and the members of the Ghassanid Royal Family, HRH Prince Sheikh Selim Antonios El Chemor and HRH Prince Sheikh Antoine Magid El Chemor.

The feature length documentary was filmed in several locations in Lebanon including the El Chemor palace in Kfer-hata. It was produced, directed and hosted by HRH Prince Gharios El Chemor of Ghassan Al-Numan VIII, KHS. Known to be an internationally multi-awarded humanitarian, the prince is a veteran actor/director/producer/writer with hundreds of credits under his belt. “The Christian Kings of the Middle East” is his first documentary as a director. The film is part of the “One Voice for Christians” initiative by the Royal House of Ghassan, in Special Consultative Status with the United Nations, whose purpose is to raise awareness not only about the family’s history, but especially regarding the imminent extinction and exodus of Christianity in the Middle East.

The film is narrated by the former BBC’s presenter Peter Baker and was produced by the Royal House of Ghassan in association with Tyche-Fortuna Entertainment and co-sponsored by the IIRF – International Institute for Religious Freedom and the GH – Gebende Hände (Giving Hands International Charity of Germany).

The upcoming documentary “The Invisible People”, also produced and directed by Prince Gharios El Chemor, is currently in production and will seek to explore the past, present and future of Christianity in the Middle East.

New book outlines a path to 3D prototyping with virtually no cost & very little learning curve

Python for OpenSCAD by John Clark Craig

Python for OpenSCAD by John Clark Craig

Thanks to OpenSCAD, I can design a new idea, send it to the library to print and create a prototype in just a couple of days – practically free of charge!

John Clark Craig, author/inventor suffered through the ultra-high-price era of product prototyping. He shares his expertise to reduce the learning curve of 3D-printing and rapid prototyping in a new book called, “Python for OpenSCAD”. Craig’s book provides a pathway to completely free and easy-to-use design software for 3D creations by leveraging the power of two popular programming languages: Python wrapped around free, open-source OpenSCAD 3D-modeling software.

“In years past, it was impossible to get an invention to the prototype stage without investing tens of thousands of dollars,” Craig explains. “Prototyping costs for hardware, software, education, consulting, and time involved were enormous and usually prohibitive. This tragically left many wonderful inventions on the drawing board – mine included. The good news is those costs have seen a dramatic overhaul recently, beginning with 3D plastic printers. I paid nearly a year’s salary for my first one, just the beginning of the expenses to get my first consumer product to market. I ended up contracting a 3D-design firm because buying 3D software was another year’s salary.”

Craig set out to help other Inventor/Makers avoid the costly hardware expenses and software development’s learning curve. OpenSCAD uses simple text file commands to drive the design of a 3D model. “Now, thanks to OpenSCAD, I can create an object, send the STL file to the library’s 3D printer and create a prototype in just a couple of days – practically free of charge.” OpenSCAD’s unique programming language still involved a learning curve, so Craig created a Python library that simplified programming so much that he decided to share it with other makers, teaching them how to use it in his book, but providing the code to them for free.

OpenSCAD has opened up 3D-modeling software to virtually anyone. Many public libraries purchased their own 3D plastic printing machines. “Suddenly, everyone has access to 3D plastics printing without a major upfront investment, and thanks to my book, the learning curve is down just as dramatically!”

After years of consulting, researching and meeting with patients I decided to officially make the move into the CBD marketplace and am proud of our products that meet the highest standards of any supplier in the nation.”

Mind-Eye Institute’s Z-Bell Test℠ Changes the Life of Boy with ADHD

These temporary glasses are changing Scott’s life. They are helping him better understand where he is in his body – and in space. Dr. Zelinsky said she would help Scott’s problems by using 21st century research – and she has.

Having a child’s eye-ear connection tested in an optometrist’s office? “Crazy,” thought Allison Suhowatsky, mother of Scott Harvey, a 10-year-old who had been diagnosed with ADHD. However, “crazy” proved to be “magical” for Scott.

Scott began sleeping through the night, something he had done only a handful of times before, when he started wearing a pair of filters prescribed by Deborah Zelinsky O.D., founder and research director of the Mind-Eye Institute, based in Northbrook, Ill, following that “crazy eye-ear test.”

“One expects to get eyeglasses for 20/20 eyesight, but these were magical,” said Allison. “Scott wore them for less than a minute twice a day, but now he was getting the all-night rest he needed to relax his body and help him better process his day.”

Added Dr. Zelinsky, “The filter Scott was prescribed blocks most frequencies of light and allows only one frequency to activate retinal pathways other than eyesight. The filters do not need to be worn for a long period of time to have a lingering effect.”

Just as importantly, Allison noted that Scott was beginning to overcome some of his learning and concentration struggles at school, and “his irritability decreased.” Allison first took Scott to the Mind-Eye Institute on the recommendation of her son’s physical therapist. During that initial appointment, Dr. Zelinsky had Scott “watching items on a screen to check his eye tracking, reading from a book and looking at various images. Then, she wanted to evaluate his visualization of auditory space.

Using her patented Z-Bell Test℠, Dr. Zelinsky asked Scott to close his eyes and then reach out and touch a small bell that she was ringing near him. He couldn’t. “Scott is flailing his arms trying to find the bell, and I am wondering, ‘What is going on here? What’s the problem?’” stated Allison.

“His eyes and ears are not connecting; let’s change that,” Allison recalls Dr. Zelinsky telling her. The appropriate eyeglass prescription for Scott was determined by putting different lenses, prisms and tints over his closed eyes until he could readily touch the bell. Since that first appointment, Scott has received updated eyeglasses with prisms, which he wears most of the day.

The prisms bend the light in ways that optimize the relationship between central and peripheral receptors in Scott’s retinas, while improving the connection with his eyes and ears. They act like training wheels on a bicycle — used for a short time until the patient can do the skill themselves without help.

The right mix of filters, lenses and/or prisms can read just a patient’s visual balance and eye-ear connection by altering the way light disperses across the retina, explains Dr. Zelinsky. “The retina is a piece of brain tissue. That’s why changes in lighting levels on the eye will affect how the brain interprets and reacts to information about the environment and can impact a person’s spatial awareness, movement and selective attention to sound.”

Unlike standard eyeglasses that mainly correct central eyesight, eyeglass prescriptions developed through the Z-Bell Test℠ are therapeutic, addressing peripheral eyesight and bringing patients like Scott relief for a range of symptoms caused by eye-ear imbalances, brain injuries and other neurological issues, including learning problems such as ADHD.

“These temporary glasses are changing Scott’s life,” concluded Allison. “They are helping him better understand where he is in his body – and in space. Dr. Zelinsky said she would help Scott’s problems by using 21st century research – and she has.”

About Mind-Eye Institute

The Mind-Eye Institute, an internationally known optometry practice with an emphasis on neuro-optometric rehabilitation, is revolutionizing scientific understanding of how the retina serves as a two-way portal into the mind and body. The way light disperses across the retina can impact brain function. That’s because changes in ambient lighting affect how the brain reacts, interprets and responds to information about the environment, thereby impacting a person’s spatial awareness, movement, and selective attention to sound. Using prescriptive eyeglasses, lenses or other optometric interventions to selectively stimulate light dispersed on the retina, the Mind-Eye Institute is helping patients redevelop visual skills during recovery from debilitating, life-altering symptoms of brain injuries and neurological disorders due to trauma, stroke, dementia and PTSD. The Institute also works to develop skills in patients with learning problems, including autism and ADHD. For more information, please call 847-501-2020 or visit https://mindeye.com.

National Disaster Preparedness Month: Be Prepared

https://www.prweb.com/

Be prepared by having a full container of fuel in case of emergencies or natural disasters. Photo Courtesy of Scepter.

Having filled fuel containers safely ready for an emergency can help power generators and lanterns.

Following the theme of “Prepared, Not Scared,” the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has designated September as National Preparedness Month. With parts of the East Coast still under threat from Hurricane Dorian, and increased storm activity currently in the Atlantic Ocean, this specially-designated month serves as a time when families and businesses should take steps to plan for emergencies, natural disasters and extreme weather situations.

“Being prepared for any unfortunate situation can save valuable time and resources when an actual emergency occurs,” says Daniel Marshall, vice president of marketing and business development with Scepter. “From a homeowners’ perspective, one of the worst situations that can occur is losing power during a storm or widespread outage.

“Having filled fuel containers safely ready for an emergency can help power generators and lanterns. And, if chain saws or other tools are needed to remove debris after a storm, it’s important to have fuel ready to power that equipment.”

Marshall recommends homeowners take time during National Preparedness Month to make sure their fuel containers are in good shape and filled. Fuel stored for more than six months should be safely discarded, because its components can deteriorate.

For those homeowners needing new or additional containers, investing in easy-to-use ScepterTM SmartControlTM fuel containers is a smart move. Available in one-, two- and five-gallon gas, kerosene and diesel sizes, the durable SmartControl containers can be filled and safely stored in garages and sheds.

Safety First: Selecting a Smart Fuel Container

The innovative spout design of SmartControl makes it easier than ever to fuel equipment. The spout provides a clean, fast, and hassle-free pour and helps save gas for where it’s needed by eliminating messy spills. The user-controlled flow valve with its flame mitigation device (FMD) makes it effortless and safe to direct the amount of fuel being dispensed. And, because the container stores with the spout on, hands always stay clean.

With a single motion, the user simply presses the lever up to unlock the child safety feature with the palm of the hand, and then squeezes the large button. This first squeeze is done when upright to vent the container. Then, place the nozzle over the tank and squeeze again to pour just the right amount of fuel.

“When preparing for a disaster it’s important to educate children on what they should and should not do in an emergency,” says Marshall. “For safety sake, children should never be allowed to help fuel generators or equipment — and they should be taught this from an early age.

“While children may wish to help, pouring or being near fuel is not appropriate. That’s a key reason why we added the child safety feature to the SmartControl container… to prevent young hands from operating our fuel containers.”

Tips for planning for a variety of situations from extreme heat to hurricanes to storm surge can be found at https://www.ready.gov/.

Recognized by This Old House magazine as a “Top 20 Best New Product of 2019” in the Lawn & Garden category, SmartControl containers are also the recipient of the “Best in Class” Award at the 2018 National Hardware Show. Constructed in the U.S.A. of durable and safe high-density polyethylene, SmartControl containers can be found throughout the U.S. in The Home Depot®, Walmart®, Lowe’s®, AutoZone®, Pep Boys, Target and Northern® Tool + Equipment stores. Visit http://www.scepter.com for more information.

NOTE: Media interested in reviewing the SmartControl gas container should contact Kathy Ziprik at ZiprikPR(at)gmail(dot)com.

A Pioneering Facial Reshaping Technique Offers Rejuvenation to Aging Individuals

Dr. Babak Azizzadeh

Dr. Babak Azizzadeh

With facial reshaping, it is important to provide patients with an individualized plan of care

Globally-acclaimed plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Babak Azizzadeh of the CENTER for Advanced Facial Plastic Surgery, is redefining natural beauty by now offering custom, state-of-the-art facial reshaping that revitalizes aging faces. Targeted towards a patient’s individual goals and administered as part of a holistic treatment program, Dr. Azizzadeh’s unique methods restore facial volume and create an improved, more youthful appearance.

Facial reshaping is not the same thing as a traditional facelift, which merely tightens loose skin and reduces fine lines and wrinkles. Instead, this innovative technique addresses all aspects of aging – including collagen and elastic fiber loss – without placing significant tension on the skin. Dr. Azizzadeh uses a modified SMAS (superficial muscular aponeurotic system) procedure to refine and reshape facial contours. To develop the most natural aesthetic for each patient, he artistically views the entire face as a continuum and aims to create soft transitions between different facial features.

“With facial reshaping, it is important to provide patients with an individualized plan of care,” says Dr. Azizzadeh. “To give a natural look in the facial reshaping process, I generally look at each patient’s face like a work of art. I have to see the ways in which the lines converge and the way each facial feature interacts with the other. It is a holistic process that promises natural results every time.” To learn more about Dr. Azizzadeh’s distinctive approach to facial aging, please visit https://www.facialplasticsbh.com/blog/analysis-of-facial-aging.

Dr. Azizzadeh’s ground-breaking treatment plans include both non-surgical and surgical interventions. PEO Spectrum Helps NYC Small Business Save $120,000 in Healthcare Benefits

PEO Spectrum office

PEO Spectrum’s New York offices

“Working with PEO Spectrum was a smooth and easy process…The result was a win for our company and our employees.

PEO Spectrum announces that amid a climate of rising employer healthcare costs, it has helped Century Management, a premier property company in New York City, save $120,000 a year in employee benefits.

When Century Management came to PEO Spectrum, they were concerned about the rising cost of health care benefits as well as staying compliant with the many city, state and federal rules and regulations.

PEO Spectrum thoroughly analyzed Century Management’s benefits costs and saw that, like many small businesses, they were paying far more for benefits than they would if they had the advantages given to large corporations. Partnering with a PEO would enable them to give their employees richer plans with more flexibility, and still save the company money. In fact, the plan found by the PEO brokers saved the company $120,000 a year. In addition, they were more comfortable knowing an outside company of experts would take on their HR liability so they could put all their focus on the business.

“The transition was smooth and fast,” noted Century Management CFO Mike Catanzaro. “Within two months, we were contracted and transitioning over to our new PEO. The result was a win for the company and our employees.”

About PEO Spectrum

PEO Spectrum provides a free service for companies to shop and compare vendors in the PEO industry. Representing the nation’s top 100 PEOs we provide our clients with unbiased expertise as to which PEO is best for their business through our streamlined PEO Comparison process.
