American Physician Partners Appoints Matt Stapleton as Chief Operating Officer

American Physician Partners, LLC (“American Physician Partners” or “APP”), a leader in emergency medicine, hospital medicine, and critical care physician management services, is pleased to announce the appointment of Matt Stapleton, MBA, BSN, RN, to the role of chief operating officer effective August 15, 2022. Reporting to John Rutledge, president and chief executive officer, Mr. Stapleton will assume primary responsibility for the day-to-day success of all administrative and operational aspects of delivering results for the company’s hospital and system partners by leading APP’s team of regional vice presidents. He will plan and oversee short- and long-term financial, operational, and strategic goals for the company and will contribute to the APP’s fast growth trajectory.

Mr. Stapleton began his healthcare leadership career as an emergency department nurse manager for several hospitals, including community hospitals, teaching facilities, and trauma centers. He served as division manager of emergency services for a large national health system and then as chief operating officer for Clearview Regional Medical Center before being recruited to a multi-specialty physician practice management company, where he served as COO and EVP for their anesthesia division and as SVP of a regional division where he had operational oversight of emergency medicine and hospital medicine services for 150 sites in 11 states. Most recently Matt served in the newly created role of chief operations and clinical officer for Healogics, a company that provides treatment of chronic wounds with more than 640 Advanced Wound Centers in 48 states.

Mr. Stapleton comes to APP with a deep understanding of and background in emergency medicine and hospital medicine management services, bringing to APP his expertise in cross-discipline collaboration, operational excellence, and strategic planning. He earned his BS in Biology from Bowling Green State University, his BSN from Case Western Reserve University, and an MBA from the University of Phoenix and has earned a Six Sigma Green Belt.
