“Having these additional, easy-to-use mobile features will make Beacon an even more convenient virtual meeting solution for scientific exchange.” – Dr. Vinona Bhatia, medical oncologist.

Alucio™, a fast-growing provider of cloud-based software for the life sciences industry, today announced the release of new features for Beacon’s mobile phone users. These enhancements optimize the user experience for meeting attendees participating in virtual scientific exchanges on their smartphones.

Smartphones are increasingly seen as valuable clinical tools for health care professionals (HCPs). According to Mobius.MD, 90% of physicians currently use their smartphones at work to access electronic health records, reference information, and manage their schedules .¹

Now, with Beacon, HCPs desiring to attend a virtual meeting via their smartphone can access the session with one simple tap. Intuitive user controls also enable smartphone meeting participants to quickly toggle video on or off – selecting an audio-only mode, all while continuing to review the meeting presentation content. Users can also quickly set and manage other viewing preferences directly from their phones.

These enhanced mobile features further reinforce Beacon’s multi-channel capabilities which include support for both virtual and in-person engagements across various device types such as desktops, laptops, tablets and phones. This flexibility provides more convenience and utility for end users including medical science liaisons (MSLs) and key opinion leaders (KOLs).

Dr. Vinona Bhatia, a medical oncologist trained at the University of Pennsylvania and UCSF, commented, “ HCPs are constantly on the go. They often use their mobile phones as a preferred mode even in patient diagnosis, treatment and follow-up workload management. Having these additional, easy-to-use mobile features will make Beacon an even more convenient virtual meeting solution for scientific exchange.”

These new mobile features, along with the platform’s integrated video conferencing module and user-friendly content management functionality, further increase the impact of Beacon within a range of life science companies from small to large and with varying technology infrastructure.

“Our newest product update is exciting and relevant,” said Jessica Wong, Alucio’s Vice President of Product Management and Strategy. “It’s important that we provide Beacon users with many ways to access the platform while maintaining a simple and high-quality content sharing experience.”
