KONICA MINOLTA BUSINESS SOLUTIONS U.S.A., INC.

BLI PaceSetter 2021–2022 in Healthcare: Visionary Leader

“There is nothing like a global health emergency to drive home the importance of the healthcare sector,” said Jamie Bsales, Keypoint Intelligence’s Director of Smart Workplace & Security Analysis. “The leading manufacturers of office document technology have stepped up their role in supporting their healthcare customers with time- and money-saving solutions for better workflows. The visionary vendors have expanded beyond the document imaging space to also deliver innovative medical technology to advance healthcare research and improve patient outcomes.”

To determine which companies lead the market, Keypoint Intelligence conducted an in-depth evaluation of the healthcare-related offerings of most of the major document imaging OEMs. The granular study drilled into over 50 points of differentiation spread across key categories: market vision and leadership, MFP/printer hardware and security, software, service/support, professional services, and relevant product offerings beyond document imaging. The analysis included a proprietary scoring rubric to codify a vendor’s strengths, and those that receive top scores are named as PaceSetters for the industry.

Canon shined in the areas of print technology and solutions, bolstered by its expansive ecosystem of offerings that work together to enable healthcare workers to be productive and focus on patient care. Canon’s service capabilities are also a strong suit. “From compact-yet-feature-rich imageCLASS MFPs and printers to reliable imageFORMULA scanners to robust imageRUNNER ADVANCE MFPs, all enhanced with top-notch solutions and service, Canon has the full range of document imaging technology any healthcare provider could require,” said Bsales. “And Canon pushes beyond document imaging with technology for patient diagnosis and treatment such as digital radiography solutions, ultrasound products, retinal cameras, and genotyping technology.”

In addition to award-winning security, HP’s MFP and printer technology incorporates other on-trend capabilities in healthcare. For instance, the HP Workpath Platform supports the development of healthcare-specific workflow tools, while a new Healthcare Edition MFP responds to cleanliness requirements, featuring keyboards, control panels and covers that can be disinfected. The HP Healthcare Advisory Council allows the company to gain insights into what clinicians need to attain that goal. “The focus for HP’s healthcare business has been on helping the company’s customers improve patient outcomes through innovative technologies,” Bsales noted. “The company’s expansion into new areas, like microfluidics, gives promise for treating and eradicating disease.”

“Konica Minolta goes well beyond document imaging devices and software to provide in-demand solutions for hospitals and group practices across the country,” said Bsales. “Its All Covered IT services division aids with HIPAA/HITECH compliance, electronic health records systems implementation and support, healthcare application development, and more, while its Return to Work program is designed to help curb the spread of COVID-19 as employees get back to the office.” The unique Return to Work offering combines a range of the company’s technologies that together provide a comprehensive step-by-step program to help customers re-open offices safely. The company’s IT services for healthcare include HIPAA-compliant cloud services, setup and management of telehealth solutions, and security penetration testing for medical equipment.
