iaedp™ Foundation Offering Core Courses for Certification Live in Orlando at 2020 Symposium

The International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (iaedp™), recognized for excellence in education and training standards for healthcare treatment providers who treat the full spectrum of eating disorders, is offering its group of Core Courses needed for certification in a live, two-day format on Wednesday, March 25 and Thursday, March 26 – just prior to the start of the 2020 Symposium in Orlando at the Omni at ChampionsGate.

The Core Courses are typically offered online, but the iaedp™ Symposium makes the live format possible. Each of the classes is presented by eating disorder professionals known nationally in the field for their eating disorders treatment expertise along with a co-presenter from the iaedp™ certification committee. Core Courses include: Course 1 – Overview of Eating Disorders: Prevalence, Diagnosis, and Contributing Factors Through a Social Justice and HAES® Informed Lens; Course 2 – Treatment Modalities for Feeding and Eating Disorders; Course 3 – Nutrition Therapy for Eating Disorders ; and Course 4 – Medical Treatment of Eating Disorders.

“Not only is it convenient for those professionals already attending the 2020 Symposium who want to take the Core Courses,” said Bonnie Harken, Managing Director at the iaedp Foundation, “it is exciting to experience the Core Courses in a live setting.”

The Core Courses may be taken at the Symposium to either satisfy the requirements for the Educational Designation and Certification or as a refresher. If a professional is pursuing certification, all other prerequisites regarding education, experience and supervision apply. Both the Educational Designation and Certification require a successful completion of a written final examination post-Symposium.

Following the conclusion of each Core Course, a candidate will take an exam for that particular Core Course and must pass each exam with a grade of 80 percent or higher. A passing Core Course exam score is valid for two years upon completion. The live, on-site Core Course workshops are equivalent to three Continuing Education Units (CEUs) per Core Course.

The Core Courses are offered as a separate 12-hour track for $375 or combined with a 2020 Symposium registration for an additional $250.
