Now at Advanced Periodontics and Dental Implant Center of Connecticut, Dr. Thomas will be adding his skills to the team’s already extensive care offered for periodontal concerns. One of the leading services offered is treatment for gum disease. This common condition affects the hard and soft tissues of the mouth, including the gums, teeth and jawbone. When diagnosed early, gum disease can be treated before extensive and permanent harm occurs. However, if left to progress untreated, gum disease can cause serious oral and systemic health concerns. Advanced gum disease can cause jawbone deterioration and tooth loss. Research has even linked it to health concerns like heart disease and diabetes.

Periodontists Drs. Amato, Kang and Thomas provide effective treatment for gum disease through LANAP® laser dentistry. LANAP is an advanced solution that does not require the use of scalpels or sutures. With gentle laser light, infected gum tissue can be removed and healthy tissue can be stimulated for regrowth. Since there is no cutting, most patients find the treatment to be comfortable and sedation is often not required. This also means that treatment is quicker than traditional treatment and areas of gum disease can often be treated in just one appointment.

Existing patients of Dr. Thomas from Bridgeport, CT are welcome to join him at his new Monroe, CT location.
