Robert J. Lowe, Jr. (Rob) and Michael H. Lowe (Mike) were honored by City of Hope’s Los Angeles Real Estate & Construction Industries Council with the Spirit of Life® Award at a dinner held on December 3. Fundraising in support of the Spirit of Life event totaled in excess of $1 million dollars. The Spirit of Life Award is presented to individuals who exemplify the ideals and values that have guided City of Hope for a century, and whose professional and humanitarian accomplishments are worthy of celebration. Industry leaders are recognized each year for their outstanding professional and philanthropic contributions.

Rob and Mike were selected in recognition of their philanthropic, community and business achievements. They carry on a family legacy of humanitarian and professional accomplishments; they are not only the first brothers to be honored, they are also the first sons of a prior honoree to receive the Spirit of Life Award. Their father, Robert J. Lowe, Sr., received the award in 2000. The brothers share CEO responsibilities at Lowe, a national real estate investment, development and management firm founded in 1972. Since inception, the company has been involved with more than $32 billion of real estate. The Lowe family encourages giving back to community as a core value of the company culture.

Recipients of the Spirit of Life award include a broad range of leaders from the world of business, entertainment, science and philanthropy. What connects them is a shared commitment to elevating the human condition and a profound belief in the power of each individual to effect change.
