Bay Alarm Medical’s latest version of the SOS Smartwatch uses artificial intelligence to accurately recognize falls and filter out false alarms

Bay Alarm Medical, a leading medical alert systems company, has announced the addition of automatic fall detection to its popular SOS Smartwatch.
“A smartwatch needs AI-powered, next generation fall detection,” says Alan Wu, Bay Alarm Medical’s Vice President of Marketing. “Our new option delivers extremely accurate fall detection. It’s a real game-changer.”
Few medical alert watches on the market include automatic fall detection because wearing the watch on the wrist has historically made it prone to false alarms. But Wu says that Bay Alarm Medical’s latest version of the SOS Smartwatch uses artificial intelligence to accurately recognize falls and filter out false alarms.
“Our SOS Smartwatch is the modern-day alternative to traditional medical alert systems and has proven very popular with our clients,” says Wu. “One of the top requests we received was for high quality, highly reliable fall detection for our smartwatch.”
Wu says that the underlying technology used in the SOS Smartwatch allows for more accurate fall detection with a higher ability to detect many types of falls.
When a fall is detected by the smart fall detection algorithm, the SOS Smartwatch checks in with an intelligent, cloud-based machine learning engine. If the intelligent engine detects a real fall, the SOS Smartwatch will ask the wearer if they’ve fallen. If the wearer does not respond, or confirms the fall, a call is immediately initiated to Bay Alarm Medical’s always-operational emergency dispatch center.
With the location and communication capabilities of the SOS Smartwatch, wearers are assured that they will be helped immediately by Bay Alarm Medical’s highly trained call center agents.
Bay Alarm Medical’s SOS Smartwatch is a standalone medical alert system. It does not need to be paired with a smartphone. In addition to its smart fall detection capabilities, the watch includes a 4G cellular connection and GPS. This allows the wearer to get emergency help anywhere with an AT&T cellular signal and allows Bay Alarm Medical’s emergency operators know the wearer’s precise location where they need help.
Wu says that the stylish SOS Smartwatch is designed for ease of use, even by seniors who may not be tech savvy.
The watch arrives already programmed with perfect screen display lighting and pre-installed with an AT&T 4G LTE sim card. No setup or installation is required by the customer, enabling immediate use.
The SOS Smartwatch has an optional wrist extender and the battery lasts up to 24 hours, depending on screen brightness level, cellular signal strength and daily movement. The waterproof watch’s step tracker also allows wearers to set daily goals, track progress and celebrate achievements.
