Mayor Dietrich to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony at Ideal Option Open House

Ideal Option, a national leader in outpatient medication-assisted treatment for opioids, methamphetamine, alcohol and polysubstance, is partnering with NUWAY Alliance and the Steve Rummler HOPE Network to host an open house at their new clinic in Inver Grove Heights. The event will kick-off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held by Inver Grove Heights Mayor Brenda Dietrich, South St. Paul Mayor Jimmy Francis and City Council members.

Substance use and overdose deaths have skyrocketed across Minnesota, largely due to the increasing prevalence of fentanyl in the illicit drug supply. According to the Minnesota Department of Health, there were 1,286 reported overdose deaths in the state in 2021, a 35% increase from 2020.

Fentanyl is regularly mixed with other illicit drugs to make them more addictive, often without the user knowing. According to a statement from the Drug Enforcement Agency in 2022, six out of every ten fake pills contain a lethal dose of fentanyl.

Polysubstance use disorder is now the most common diagnosis at Ideal Option. Patient data from 2022 show 60% of all Ideal Option patients tested positive for two or more substances at enrollment, and 26% tested positive for three or more substances.

On Tuesday, May 16, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., all members of the community are invited to attend the open house at Ideal Option’s clinic in Inver Grove Heights located at 5972 Cahill Ave, Ste. 112B.

During the open house, attendees can tour the facility, meet expert staff, pick up printed materials, learn more about community resources and enjoy refreshments.
