“The Emprint™ SX’s system’s navigation-based microwave ablation’s precision and real-time 3D ultrasound imaging guidance make it a valuable tool that can help to ensure that the treatment is delivered effectively and safely,” says Dr. Dmitri Alden.

Dr. Dmitri Alden is a board-certified, world-renowned oncologist and surgeon of the liver, pancreas and biliary system, treating patients from all over the globe. Widely recognized in his field as one of the top specialists in the country, Dr. Alden is always at the forefront of medical innovation. His practice is proud to now offer patients the revolutionary Emprint™ SX ablation platform with Thermosphere™ technology by Medtronic. The Emprint™ SX ablation platform combines real-time, 3D ultrasound and patented Thermosphere™ technology to treat non-resectable liver tumors. The combination of these helps to increase target accuracy and complete tumor coverage with adequate margins.

Microwave ablation is a medical procedure that uses high-frequency electromagnetic waves to generate heat and destroy abnormal tissue in the body, such as cancerous tumors. Navigation-based microwave ablation involves the use of real-time imaging to guide the placement of the microwave antenna so that the ablation is delivered precisely to the targeted tissue. It is typically performed using image-guided techniques such as ultrasound, CT or MRI, which allows the physician to locate the tumor or abnormal tissue and guide the placement of the microwave antenna to deliver the ablation therapy. Navigation-based microwave ablation has several advantages over traditional ablation techniques. It offers more precise targeting of the tissue, resulting in a higher likelihood of complete ablation, a lower risk of damage to surrounding healthy tissue and simultaneous monitoring of the ablation process.

“The Emprint™ SX’s system’s navigation-based microwave ablation’s precision and real-time 3D ultrasound imaging guidance make it a valuable tool that can help to ensure that the treatment is delivered effectively and safely,” says Dr. Dmitri Alden.
