Nurse.org Teams Up with Boston Red Sox and Seattle Mariners to Honor Nurses This Month

“The Red Sox are excited to host thousands of nurses again at our annual ‘Nurse Night’ with Nurse.org. We look forward to honoring and thanking them for all of the hard work they do on May 17th at Fenway!” – Carl Grider, Sr. Director at the Red Sox

Nurse.org, the largest website and community of nurses online, will host its 7th Annual Red Sox “Nurse Night” at Fenway Park on May 17th, 2023. Over 5,000 New England-area nurses have already secured tickets to the event, surpassing last year’s record attendance.

According to the Red Sox, the annual “Nurse Night” is the #1 theme night in Red Sox history. “The Red Sox are excited to host thousands of nurses again at our annual ‘Nurse Night’ with Nurse.org,” said Carl Grider, Sr. Director at the Red Sox. “We look forward to honoring and thanking them for all of the hard work they do on May 17th at Fenway!”

The pregame ceremony will feature a performance of the national anthem by nurse Kelli Neville, a pediatric nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) for Children in Boston, MA. Kelli won the opportunity to sing from an online audition and vote by the Nurse.org community. She said, “I have always loved honoring our country by performing the anthem at special events and as a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan, it would be the ultimate dream come true to do so at Fenway.”

Ten additional nurses, nominated and voted on by the Nurse.org community, will be honored on the field during the pregame ceremony, and one will throw the first pitch. The nurses recognized for their dedication to the nursing profession include:

  • Eileen Ruggieri – Courtyard Nursing Care Center in Medford, MA
  • Jackie Haney – Lawrence General Hospital in Haverhill, MA
  • Jeremy Boucher – Greenwood Center in Warwick, RI
  • Katherine Johnson – Mass General Brigham Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, MA
  • Laura Creed – Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA
  • Mary T. O’Sullivan – Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA
  • Noelle Sullivan – Boston Veteran’s Affairs Healthcare System in Boston, MA
  • Samantha Peck Dionne – Southcoast Behavioral Health in Dartmouth, MA
  • Sammy Soto – in Chelmsford, MA
  • Tatenda Bomba – Lowell General Hospital in Greater Boston, MA

“I look forward to this event every year,” said Nurse Alice Benjamin, APRN, MSN, ACNS-BC, FNP-B, CCRN, CEN, CV-BC, Chief Nursing Officer and Correspondent for Nurse.org, and the host of the award-winning “Ask Nurse Alice” podcast. “I can’t wait to meet all of these amazing nurses. Go Red Sox!” Nurse Alice will host the pregame ceremony and looks forward to meeting nurses on the main concourse during the game for photos and other giveaways.

Nurse.org is also hosting its first “Nurse Night” at T-Mobile Park with the Seattle Mariners on May 8th. Kelli Camp, a nurse anesthetist in rural Washington, will throw the first pitch, and Matt Dustin, a charge nurse at Tacoma General Hospital, will catch.
