“Stratus is proud to have the opportunity to support UnitedHealthcare’s initiatives to help ensure their members have access to the right care at the right time,” said Charlie Alvarez, CEO of Stratus

Stratus™, the nation’s leading provider of EEG solutions and services, today announced it has received a national, in-network contract with UnitedHealthcare, the nation’s largest private insurer. The contract, which became effective late in 2022, provides improved access to diagnostic electroencephalogram (EEG) testing services for UnitedHealthcare members who may be experiencing seizure or seizure-like symptoms.

This national agreement offers eligible UnitedHealthcare members access to Stratus’ nationwide, in-home video EEG services without prior authorization for the test. This means many patients needing a long-term EEG will experience shorter wait times between when their physician orders a test and when the test is performed. Prior authorization can traditionally take between 14 and 30 days, so the time reduction can be significant. Additionally, UnitedHealthcare members who live outside of a major metropolitan area will also have convenient access to testing in the comfort of their own home because of Stratus’ metropolitan, suburban, and rural service offerings.

“Stratus is proud to have the opportunity to support UnitedHealthcare’s initiatives to help ensure their members have access to the right care at the right time,” said Charlie Alvarez, CEO of Stratus. “This goal fits well with Stratus’ mission of providing high-quality and convenient long-term EEG testing services to patients. Without convenient access, many patients forgo testing completely and extend the time to get answers about their medical conditions. UnitedHealthcare granting this agreement to Stratus means physicians who order tests for their patients will get the information they need faster and help them make better and more timely decisions for their patients.”

Effective immediately, Stratus can schedule physician ordered tests as in-network for most members who are part of UnitedHealthcare’s commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid health plans.
