ClinOne Expands Patient Ride to Serve Global Clinical Trials

By reducing the barriers presented by transportation, we enable a more diverse population greater access to participating in life-changing research.

The ClinOne Patient Ride solution, in collaboration with Uber Health, currently enables clinical staff and patients to arrange transportation to a US clinic or lab, within the ClinOne platform.

Expanding the Patient Ride solution globally means enabling patient and provider relationships worldwide, providing more opportunities to gather and analyze high-fidelity data on an international scale, particularly with previously untapped patient populations. “Broadening ClinOne’s reach through our global partnership with Uber provides easy-to-access transportation services, vital for all patients with varying needs to have peace of mind for their successful participation in a clinical trial. Providing a turnkey way for sites to arrange for these services gives them one less thing to do and enables them to focus on patient care,” says Andrea Valente, CEO of ClinOne.

The ease-of-use, centralized billing and real-time confirmation of patient transportation has been a boon for US clinical sites to recruit formerly underserved populations. “Increasing diversity, inclusion, and equity in drug development cannot be an afterthought; it must be meticulously incorporated every step of the way,” Brian Ongioni, Vice President of Product at ClinOne notes. “By reducing the barriers presented by transportation, we enable a more diverse population greater access to participating in life-changing research.”

Decentralized Clinical Trial (DCT) design is an important part of the changing landscape for clinical trials, and transportation is a key driver for that change. In a survey sponsored by the Michael J. Fox Foundation cited in Applied Clinical Trials, “95% [of sites] reported that transportation infrastructure would improve recruitment efforts, and 63% felt it would ensure all studies recruited on time. Eighty-four percent of respondents reported that a taxi, livery, or ride-sharing service partnership would be the preferred transportation infrastructure.”

1,250+ Patient Rides Provided in a Single Study is only one example of how Patient Ride bolsters accessibility and flexibility and drives significant ROI by enrolling faster, improving experience, and increasing patient retention.
