Farlong Nutraceutical, a vertically integrated, plant-based ingredient and supplement company, has initiated the process to earn Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) status with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for the natural ingredients, Xiaohongshen (Radix Et Rhizonma Rubiae Yunnanensis) and Qingyangshen (Radix Cynanchi Otopylli).
Xiaohongshen is derived from the dried roots and rhizomes of Rubia yunnanensis Diels. The extract works to nourish and enhance regular blood flow and remove blood stasis to promote tissue regeneration. It is also used to help with infertility; bruises and strains; numbness; joint swelling and pain; rheumatic pain; cough and wheezing; dizziness; headaches; abdominal pain; and insomnia.
Qingyangshen is extracted from the dried roots of Cynanchum otophyllum Schneid, Asclepiadaceae and has been utilized to help with strengthening muscles, bones, the spleen and stomach; treating cold symptoms; relieving spasms; lumbar weakness; muscle and bone pain; loss of appetite; epilepsy, and febrile convulsions.
