Speakers include the Director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy Dr. Rahul Gupta and HHS Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use and the Leader of SAMHSA Miriam Delphin-Rittmon, Ph.D.
Why: The U.S. recently passed the benchmark of 100,000 deaths over a 12-month period from accidental drug overdose (OD). COVID-19 brought about several temporary changes to the way medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder (OUD), including methadone administration, is provided to patients through our nation’s opioid treatment programs (OTPs). Currently, there is widespread discussion and controversy about what changes should be made permanent and what other changes should be considered.
