American Physician Partners Appoints James Grimes as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer

As we seek to build out our senior executive team with strong industry leaders, we feel James’s senior-level finance and accounting experience in healthcare will contribute to American Physician Partners’ ongoing growth and reputation as an industry leader.

American Physician Partners, LLC (“American Physician Partners” or “APP”), a leader in emergency medicine, hospital medicine, and critical care management services, is pleased to announce the appointment of James Grimes, CPA, to the role of senior vice president, chief financial officer effective October 20, 2022. Reporting to John Rutledge, president and CEO, Grimes will have responsibility for all accounting and financial activities of the company, including financial reporting, budget oversight, tax and treasury functions, growth forecasting, and revenue cycle management.

Grimes has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare accounting/finance. He is a growth-oriented leader, supporting more than $4B of acquisition and organic growth. He also has extensive external financial reporting experience, including 144A debt financing and SEC experience. He started his career in a senior audit role for Ernst & Young, LLP and has spent the last 18 years with Ardent Health Services, a Nashville-based owner/operator of hospitals and ancillary operations with $5B in net revenue. In his most recent role at Ardent as SVP finance, chief accounting officer, Grimes was responsible for internal/external financial reporting, corporate accounting, tax, government reimbursement, budget and capital planning, and revenue accounting/analysis. James received his BS in Accounting & Finance from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and his Master of Accountancy from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville.
