National Movement Rallies to Answer “Why We’re Pro-Life”

“Why We’re Pro-Life” by Trent Horn

“…Saying ‘abortion should be legal so that it’s safe’ is the same as saying, ‘it should be legal for bigger people to kill smaller people so that it’s safer for the bigger people.'” —Trent Horn.

In the wake of new state ballot initiatives to enshrine the right to kill the unborn and the vandalization of houses of worship and pro-life women’s health centers, hundreds of organizations, universities, nonprofits, and advocates from across the nation have come together to declare that human life is a human right.

“The decision in the Dobbs case released a torrent of violence and lies about the pro-life movement, even recently spreading misinformation that human fetuses do not have a heartbeat at six weeks,” says Christopher Check, president of Catholic Answers. “Yet the science is definitive—each new life begins at conception. And with that, human beings deserve protection and care at every stage of development.”

Unifying the national movement is the distribution of copies of “Why We’re Pro-Life,” a new, free booklet from pro-life defender Trent Horn. The booklet advocates for unborn life as a human rights issue, providing counterpoints to pro-abortion arguments with the help of the most up-to-date science and statistics.

“Scientifically, this answer isn’t hard to find. Even pro-choice scholars agree that the unborn are simply very young members of the human species,” offers Horn. “An unborn child isn’t something that can develop into a human being. It is a human being in the process of developing into a more mature human being.”

In “Why We’re Pro-Life,” Horn provides both pro-life advocates and those unsure of their position a compelling series of thoughtful questions to reflect on, including “When does life begin?”, “What is a person?”, and more, while offering science-based answers and fact-driven reasoning pointing to the universal truth: human life begins at conception.

Published by Catholic Answers, the booklet also addresses the legal and cultural landscape of the post-Roe world. It strikes a thoughtful, peaceful tone by engaging with patience, kindness, and equanimity to bring others to an understanding of the humanity of the unborn.

At only thirty-two pages in length, “Why We’re Pro-Life” equips readers with solid foundational reasoning to respond to even the most ardent proponent of abortion. Horn debunks the logical fallacies in pro-abortion arguments, including “My Body, My Choice” and abortion in hard cases, offering data-based statistics and research into each. Horn writes, “Saying ‘Abortion should be legal so that it’s safe’ is the same as saying ‘It should be legal for bigger people to kill smaller people so that it’s safer for the bigger people.’” And for those impacted by abortion, Horn closes the booklet with a message of hope and resources to help heal post-abortion trauma.

Beginning today, “Why We’re Pro-Life” will be distributed in physical form, for free, by hundreds of organizations, universities, nonprofits, and advocates, religious and non-religious, across the nation. A digital download of the booklet is available at whyweareprolife.com.

“This isn’t a matter of religion—it is a matter of humanity,” reaffirms Check. “It’s about recognizing the value of human life at all stages and that even at conception, that new human is morally relevant.”
