“I hope to be a bridge between my work in the streets and the professional care we deliver to our pets in a clinical setting, so pets always receive the emotional support they deserve.” —Dr. Kwane Stewart

Fear Free, LLC is excited to welcome Dr. Kwane Stewart as an advisor in the role of Chief Veterinary Professional Relations Officer.

As a graduate from Colorado State University’s renowned veterinary school, Dr. Stewart brings more than 25 years of experience as a veterinarian, including work within shelters, nonprofits, emergency clinics, and even film sets as Netflix’s veterinarian.

Today, Dr. Stewart is best known for his volunteer and charity work. After nearly 12 years of providing free medical care to pets of the unhoused, Dr. Stewart co-founded Project Street Vet in 2020, a charity that provides free veterinary care, treatment, and support to the pets of individuals experiencing homelessness and/or housing vulnerability.

“With Dr. Stewart’s intimate experience across most aspects of veterinary medicine, he was a logical choice to represent Fear Free for various audiences,” Dr. Marty Becker, founder of Fear Free, said. “But his passion to help all pets live happy, healthy, full lives—and the ability to lead others to follow this ‘dream with deadlines’—made the decision to have him join the Fear Free team an easy one. Dr. Stewart is the rare combo of both fitting in and standing out.”

In his new role, Dr. Stewart will serve as an ambassador of the Fear Free brand, participating in speaking, public relations, and community engagement opportunities with the goal of raising awareness and furthering education about Fear Free within the animal health and welfare industries. He will also work alongside the Fear Free team to identify new and inventive ways to better serve our pet owner community.

“As someone who has always ensured that the animals I care for have a positive and stress-free interaction, I’m thrilled to join the Fear Free team,” Dr. Stewart said. “I hope to be a bridge between my work in the streets and the professional care we deliver to our pets in a clinical setting, so pets always receive the emotional support they deserve.”

Since 2016, Fear Free has provided online education to more than 248,000 veterinary professionals, pet professionals, animal welfare employees and volunteers, and pet owners. By closely listening to the needs of the profession and those of the new generation of pet owners, Fear Free has become one of the single most transformative initiatives in the history of pet care, providing unparalleled education on emotional wellbeing, enrichment, and the reduction of fear, anxiety, and stress in pets and improving the experience of every human and pet involved.
