Cecelia Health Celebrates 2022 Donnelly Scholarship Recipients

Cecelia Health today shared their participation in the 2022 Novo Nordisk Donnelly Scholarship. The two national recipients, Anne Marie Hiser (Acworth, Ga.) and Bogdan Vizoli (Woodbury, Minn.), were awarded scholarships of $10,000 each last month and celebrated at a reception during the first week of the US Open where they visited with sports icon Billie Jean King as well as leaders from Cecelia Health and other scholarship sponsors.

Winners received virtual diabetes education and support from Cecelia Health around disease management, device support, nutrition, and exercise while competing at an intense level. The company’s Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (CDCES) built trusting relationships with the 2022 program athletes to better understand and manage their blood sugar levels, demonstrate improvements in their time-in-range (TIR), and learn life-long skills to successfully manage their diabetes.

“Cecelia Health is honored to support the Novo Nordisk Donnelly Scholarship program,” said Mark Clermont, chief executive officer at Cecelia Health. “The relationships our CDCES built virtually with Anne Marie and Bogdan are exemplary of the value that human connection has on achieving health goals. It is consistent with our mission, and we congratulate these remarkable award winners.”

The Novo Nordisk Donnelly Scholarships are awarded to students who completed an application that included an essay question describing how their life has been impacted by diabetes, and who are entering a four-year college or university program, intended to support the student’s cost of tuition, educational materials, and other related expenses at the college or university the student selects.

This scholarship, now in its 20th consecutive year, is named in honor of Tracey Donnelly Maltby and Diane Donnelly Stone, who along with their father, Bud Donnelly, all played Division I collegiate tennis while affected by the challenges of Type 1 diabetes.
