I really want to create an interest in the biblical text, particularly John’s Gospel

Delashaw combines experience, Bible study and personal anecdotes to create a guide looking into the passages of John’s Gospel in “The Search for Home: Steps of Grace in John 1-4”.
The book is broken down into chapters corresponding with the Gospel of John and 100 subcategories revealing the “Steps of Grace”. The book offers devotionals and commentaries and introduces the reader to basic principles and vocabulary of the “inductive Bible study method” and attempts to help the reader structure their devotional life. Delashaw also writes about practical steps for intellectual growth and character development.
“My first goal is to help both pastors and laypeople in the Christian community to mature biblically and theologically,” Delashaw said. “I really want to create an interest in the biblical text, particularly John’s Gospel.”
Delashaw believes that on a certain level, John’s Gospel is straightforward and simple but, upon further examination, however, is profoundly deep, and a person could spend his or her entire life reflecting on its message.
“I have introduced biblical material within the context of personal stories so that the reader has an opportunity to reflect upon his or her own life in light of Christ’s personhood,” Delashaw said. “The intersection of Word, Spirit and personal experience is very important here.”
